Can they somehow find a way to right their wrong?
Changes abound when a group of seven ladies raised in an orphanage become an inheritance to the small town of Pine Falls, Nebraska. The ladies have grown up to be strong and independent, out of necessity. That serves them well in a new environment as they start seeing the many single men in town, until they start pairing off as couples. The local men are familiar with the dangers of living in the west in 1890, and try to protect their special lady. However, the ladies are used to taking care of themselves and each other. The men have a difficult time getting the ladies to rely on them and say something if things don't seem right.
Just as they think they've found a solution, a traumatic event intervenes. The ladies know the men would have prevented it, had they known what was happening. Now the ladies are wracked with guilt as they hope their men can somehow find a way to right their wrong.

This book had the ingredients for a good story. Seven young women, who had been together in an orphanage, had travelled West to start a new life. I did like the friendship of the women, who were grateful for this new start in their lives. The men in their lives were very protective and were aware that the dangers in their town were not something the women were used to. I hadn’t read the first book but previous events were easily explained. My main complaint was that the pace was too slow and there was too much repetition in the dialogue. I received a copy via Booksprout and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

IF ANYTHING HAPPENS, SAY SOMETHING!

As a fan of Ms. Misty Malone's books, I started with book three because I missed books one and two, but I have purchased or borrowed them in KU to begin at the beginning. I love the storyline concept and see how this played out, and there will be more stories in the series. It is rare I would go back and get previous books to read, but I am glad I did.

A quick rundown, Pine Falls, Nebraska, had a prominent citizen die and bequeathed the town his home and money. The Sheriff is in charge of the estate. It is decided that what the town needs is single ladies for potential brides and filling essential roles. An ad is found, seven orphan ladies looking to become mail-order brides. Put one and one together, and the is the concept of these stories. The seven (of age orphans females) are provided with a train and stagecoach ticket to travel together to Nebraska. The benefactor's home will become theirs to use while living in Pine Falls; they find employment and start courting single men in town.

The story will have a wedding and several other couples becoming more series as they are exclusively dating. It will have one man pushing a romance when the woman doesn't feel like she wants to be with him, and he starts harassing and stalking her—and eventually leads to a dangerous situation. The ladies that are now part of Pine Falls Township have had to learn an entirely new way of life, dangers, friendships, trusting, and dominant men who show that they care for their ladies, even if it means a spanking.

Sheriff Dawson and Cecelia will be planning their wedding—but he keeps pushing for her and the other six ladies to have what they will need for Nebraska winters—mittens, hats, warmer clothing. The money is in the account, but Cecelia wants them to buy them from their earnings and waits too long—and will be punished for her stubbornness as he had warned her.

The story has a mystery that Cecelia and Rose became entangled with, trying to 'help' the Sheriff solve the mystery of the missing oats. They do risky things that could lead to them being hurt and eventually get caught. There are also the threats to Sally has after one dinner with a newcomer to town, Howard Tuckman—and that will play a scary role in this tale—especially when the ladies decide to keep this quiet.

"He didn't threaten me or anything like that, but he made me feel very uncomfortable. He told me when he finds something he wants, he doesn't give up easily and quickly left."

The story has plenty of angst, mystery, suspense, danger, and romance. It will have several ladies in trouble with the men they are courting, and it will have those men showing their disapproval in the form of spankings.

"For a spanking to be effective, it has to hurt, and it has to hurt enough to make you stop and think before you do that same thing again. Then and only then have you suffered the consequences of your mistake. Then and only then will you be forgiven, and then and only then will you be able to forgive yourself."

The story has the good, the bad, and the ugly of people. The seven orphan ladies all learn what it is like to feel cared for, needed, and to have a town that rallies around them. They also learn that while Pine Falls' men seem bossy and controlling, it is done with care and concern for their well-being. It has one evil man who takes things too far and is determined to have his way and ignore when he has been told no. Someone will be hurt, another will be traumatized, and two people will find their way together.

"I promise that anytime in the future when you don't say something when you should, you'll be receiving a spanking."

The men of Pine Falls believe in spanking their women—and several scenes include domestic discipline. What the story does not have are sex scenes—even within a marriage.

What worked well in the first book, didn’t work quite as well for me in this one. The slower pace wasn’t a function of these young women getting used to their new town and meeting their new neighbors. And the bratty and ‘too stupid to live’ behavior wasn’t the result of the heroines not knowing any better. On the upside, I thought the heroes were a remarkably patient and understanding lot. Maybe it was just me and the mood I was in when I read this, but the dialog felt unnatural and the term “ladies” was used too often for my tastes.

This is the second book in this series, and I've really enjoyed reading both books. The women from the orphanage still don't want to be a burden to the town, preferring to wait until they can buy things with their own money. This tends to cause a problem for some of their behinds. Cecelia and Rose are trying to help solve the mystery of who might be stealing oats from the livery, getting the two of them, and Sally just for being there, in trouble. And that mystery goes much deeper, ending with a kidnapping. Fortunately, all ends well with that situation. It was fun to see more new relationships develop between these women and some of the men in town. But the highlight of the book is Dawson and Cecelia's wedding. The thing I like best is how Cecelia can always come up with a justification for anything that she's been involved in. It doesn't always fly with Dawson, but she certainly gives it her best shot. I'm really looking forward to the next book.

Love this sweet series. Set in the late 100th it touches my heart with all kinds of emotion. The women from the orphanage learning how to live their lives in the world and how that is so different from an instatution. They have never interacted with anyone not of the instatution until now.
It is warm and funny, sweet and tender with a few spankings thrown in.
This is the 2nd book and as great as the first. They are real and share all our insecurities, hopes and dreams. Hearts of gold, strong willed, determined to do it on their own and not be burdens, they get jobs, make friends and even fall in love.
I recommend this series, can be read as a stand alone. Spoilers if you read them out of order but not enough to take away the enjoyment of the story.

This is book two in the series, but the author does a great job quickly rehashing what happened in the first book. We follow the young ladies who came to Pine Falls to find husbands. Cecilia and Dawson are engaged, Rose and Fred are courting and all of the other young ladies, except Sally, are courting as well. The book is mostly about Cecilia and Rose, but we do read about the other women as well. The biggest problem the ladies have is that they don't think that things are as serious as their men tell them. They learn the hard way that they grew up very sheltered. I enjoyed this book and I'm hoping there are books for all the ladies!

Say Something is a seamless continuation of the Pine Falls series. All the great characters I loved so much from the first book are back in this sweet romance. As some romantic relationships continue, even more are added as the story moves forward. The wonderful air of love and friendship is pervasive, making the book heartwarming and so easy to read. The plot kept my interest and had elements of danger and suspense in addition to power exchange. I can't wait for the next installment of this entertaining series.

Keywords Say Something.
I read the first book and it appears Miss Cecilia has not yet learned when Dawson says something she really should listen. The interaction between those two is fun. All the characters are great you read quite a bit with Fred and Rose too. I am really enjoying this serious and love seeing the other ladies finding their special person. I cannot wait for the next book. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

I haven't read the first book in this series, but I found this to be an entertaining read. The women from the orphanage had a kinship and were very sheltered growing up. They were all grateful to be starting their new lives. It was a nicely paced story that had interesting and entertaining characters.

This was a great 2nd book in the series that follows 7 women that grew up in an orphanage. They depend on each other, so when they move to Pine Falls and start courting and marrying men they have to work on letting the men help. Will the girls be able to give up some independence to be part of something more?

A story you can get lost in and it grabs your attention and holds it. The characters are strong, well developed and easy to relate to. The story line is well written and flows smoothly through the pages.

Book 2 in this series and don't worry if you haven't read book 1 as the events are summarised well in the story. This book is not what I was expecting. Book 1 was about the start of the relationship between Dawson and Cecilia so I thought this book would be about another of the ladies. Instead, it very much follows Dawson and Cecilia as they prepare for their life together as well as incorporating more about the other ladies and the relationships they start. So it reads more as an ensemble. It did take me a bit to adjust my thinking but by the end I was really enjoying it. This is a clean, sweet romance so try something else if you want some sexy times. My only complaint is that the story did seem to move slowly and drag in places
