I love fantasy, adventure, and magic. More than that, I adore my readers.

My books are written to entertain -- fantasy adventures filled with compelling characters, spectacular magic, thrilling action, constant intrigue, and a sense of discovery. I equate them to the "Marvel Movie" version of fiction, intended to be a fun escape.

I would love to have you join me and my quirky characters for one outrageous adventure after another. With over a million published words, my author journey has just begun.

Best wishes,
Jeff

4.5-stars.

I think that this was a fitting ending to a good series. One of the characters that I didn't particularly like at the beginning became someone I did by the end; so that qualifies as a redemption story for me.

Obviously there is an underlying nod to Tolkien but I also thought of authors like Feist and Eddings at times during this series, and that was welcome for me personally because I've enjoyed a lot of works by both those authors in the past.

I thought/think that this series is well worthwhile giving a try. It is a good example that indie authors can write entertaining stories.

I shall be happy to read more by this author in the future.

'Welcome to the final verse of the spectacle that altered the fate of a world.'

And damn! I'm sorry to see it end! Not because the end was bad, but because I wanted more!

The 6th and final installment in the epic Fate of Wizardoms Saga is where all the stuff goes down!
We get questions answered, truths revealed and more than one twist along the way.

Humanity and the world seem destined to fall. The die is cast and it will all end one way or another.

With the Eight Wizardoms on the brink of devastation, our band of reluctant heroes has no choice but to continue their quest despite the seemingly impossible odds. And the sheer insanity of the quest is bound to get to each and every one of them.

In a world that seems to have gone mad, even the best laid plans may go to hell in a hand-basket. But such is to be expected, when mortals act as pawns in a contest of gods.

I will not spoil and tell you how this tale will end, but be prepared for one heck of a ride.
There were two particular moments along the way when my reaction was nothing short of a shocked NO! NO! NO!

It's true that "Sometimes heroes die to save others. It is what makes them heroes and is the way of the world."
But....
Damn it, Jeffrey Kohanek!!! Why did it have to be them!?
And if you ever get to read this - know that you actually made me cry!!

Wizardoms: A Contest of Gods is a spectacular conclusion to a fabulous series. Epic, riveting and heartbtreaking!

Magic and danger, friendship and betrayal are again topped with humor and witty banter, albeit not as much as in the previous books. The entire cast of fully fleshed wonderful characters had me rooting for them till the very end. And reaching for a pack of tissues too.

Wild edge-of-the-seat adventure and twists that yet again, you will NOT see coming will have you biting your nails at times, while the fabulous character dynamic will make you chuckle even when the odds are despairing.
I said it before and will say it again - I haven't been so caught up in a series since reading The Wheel of Time.

Heartbreaking at times and uplifting at others, this riveting series has all the marks of a fabulous read. Wonderful wordbuilding, an ingenious magic system, beautifully crafted characters, great mystery and intrigue, witty banter and fun filled adventure, as well as dash of romance.
The Fate of Wizardoms is an engaging epic fantasy series with something for every single reader out there.

There is something about Jeffrey L. Kohanek's writing that makes you forget the world around you, and get lost within the pages of his tale.
You don't believe me?
Go ahead and give his books a try.
I guarantee you won't regret it.

This series is Awesome! With a capital A!

3.5/5

this author sure knows how to write plot twists I'll give him that. now as a book it wasn't the best in the series but it was enjoyable. i didn't quite like the darkspawn storyline because it ended up consuming the plot while only having been introduced at the 3rd book.

what i love about this book though is the characters. i know I'll definitely miss them.

p.s. my girl aiden died for nothing 😭

do recommend

This saga has been truly epic and with this 6th book we come to an ending and wow what an ending this is! In this book we get to see mortals once again being used as pawns in the power struggle between the old Gods. Primarily there were eight wizardoms, where high lord wizards ruled over the people gaining their power through their people’s prayers which were directed to their individual new gods, through their towers of devotion. However the wizards started getting greedy for more power and we saw the fall of one wizard after the other and those remaining grasping to take the power of devotion for themselves. This brought an imbalance in the magic of the world and the darkspawn were able to enter and cross into the cities. Our group of heroes were also sent in search of many magical artifacts which were to help them bring balance in the world once again. However the dark lord Urvadan and his demon lord H’Deesengar were invading the lands and wrecking havoc on the people. Our heroes go all out to stop them, risking life and limb many a time during the struggles. In this book we see the loss of many of our heroic friends who willingly give up their lives in order to save their world. And in this book there be dragons who also return to get vengeance on evil and help bring peace and a new beginning to those who survived. I love the fast paced action which does not flag throughout the book and the way all loose ends are tied of beautifully in the end. This was an amazing adventure in a massive war between the light and dark forces where as usual mortals are used by the Gods. Even though this final book gives us an ending to the story there is more to look forward to in the eight kingdoms now run by Kings and Queens rather than Wizards.

Well written, enjoyed them all.

This rating is for the entire series. Well written with good character creation. It's hard to tell a new story in the world of fantasy but the author has done well here. Shades of all my favorite fantasy authors are within these pages but only as influential in their own for any new authors to aide in the story they will weave. Jeffrey L. Kohanek uses that influence well. Enjoy your time in the wizard's. I know I did.

What a great conclusion. I love that all of the team worked to save the world. It is sad that we lost some of them. I still like Jace and Narine the best. I can not wait until their next adventure.

Great ending to this series but leaves it wide open for a follow up series (I sure hope so). Some of our heroes give their lives to save humanity. It’s tragic and heartbreaking, but a story of survival and triumph for our unlikely ragtag bunch of heroes. Action, romance, good, evil, it’s all there in this 6th book. Loved it!

Amazing epic adventure final chapter

Loved this series. You have brave characters, quirky ones, people good and bad, and a group of world-savers who wonder why they’re there. Are part of a plan that unfolds through the books and reveals fully in this one. Friendship, love, honor, magic, fighting, loss, it’s all gear. Read the series!

Omg! It all came together! It was perfect and magical But also heartbreaking and horrible. I don't even know how to even feel right now. I will say that there are moments where I should have cried and I don't know if there was too much foreshadowing or something else that kept me from fully connecting with the moments however there were no tears shed despite how sad I was and still am. There were definitely moments I didn't see coming though! Priella maybe my spirit sister 😄. I'm so glad there's going to be another spin-off series because I'm so not ready to leave this world. Especially after that final chapter!

An epic conclusion to an awesome series, just bloody brilliant. When the world is on the brink of destruction from the darklord and his darkspawn, everyone including humankind, wizardkind, dwarves and elves must put their differences aside and come together to save what they all hold dear, life. In this final book of the series, the magic battles are our of this world, Dragons vs Wyverns, Gods vs Gods, Wizardlords vs Wizardlords, absolutley epic. Our band of heroes finally meet up after going their separate ways in the previous books. After collecting the magical devices they set out collect, but will it be enough to save the Wizardoms and humanity from the darkness that is about to smash into them. Wow the worldbuilding, plots and settings is just amazing, if you love fast paced action packed fantasy, check it out you won't regret it. The narrator Travis Baldree has been brilliant through the whole series, I highly recommend. Now for the next series The Fall Of The Wizardoms....😁🔥💥

A Contest of Gods is the epic conclusion of The Fate of Wizardoms series by Jeffrey L. Kohanek. It has plenty of adventure with all of our favorite characters. The twists and turns keep coming even as things are wrapping up. Often I couldn't guess what would happen next. The best part is that Kohanek doesn't rush the ending. He carefully ties everything together and gives us all the feels as our heroes say their goodbyes. He then sets things up for the next series, so that fans will be eager for more.

I received an Audible code for A Contest of Gods. Travis Baldree is a brilliant narrator. I love listening to him and he does the different characters well. This is my honest and voluntary review.

This ending to the Fate of Wizardoms series is brilliant. It ties off the whole interconnected web of plotlines that have criss-crossed through the preceding five novels and allows for consequences. Even though the quest is solved, the actions of the heroes and those they stopped have far-reaching consequences, which the author promises to resolve in a second series, Fall of Wizardoms. I'm very excited to keep reading!

Although I saw through the twist about Vander and Salvon in the previous book, there were indeed a few twists and turns in the final battle that I didn't see coming. I really enjoyed how it was by combining the efforts of all the heroes and with some measure of luck that everything came together despite some pretty harrowing odds. There are some pretty heart-wrenching sacrifices too, but they were well done and those character deaths felt meaningful even if they might have been unexpected. The author hints at several of them in earlier books through prophecy, which helped to make such things easier to handle, while still making the moments impactful. I'm glad this is not a book where everyone comes out the other end unscathed. They were fighting a demon lord, hoards of darkspawn, and a dark god, after all. I definitely appreciate the way the situation was handled.

Of course, I was sad that nothing came of Rawk's feelings for Rhoa, but her ending was satisfying enough and definitely has me interested in finding out what she finds in her quest to discover the hidden dwarven stronghold. I think it's a fitting quest for her, and like how she embraces the freedom to make her own decisions once she broke free of being a pawn in the great scheme revealed in this book. She's a fantastic character and I look forward to seeing her again in future books.

Jace and Narine are my favorite power couple from this series and I can't wait to see what more crazy schemes these two are going to come up with in the future. Both are decked out with some pretty amazing magical items now too, which will make for some fun encounters in future, I'm sure. I really enjoyed watching these two characters come into their own and grow together, learning to rely on each other and support the strengths of the other while bridging the gaps when they work together. I do hope they get a HEA, althought their HFN is great too.

Priella was the "hero" character I liked least from the previous books, but she's grown on me. As an unsympathetic individual, I do respect the author for being able to provide a powerful backstory that allowed me to understand her and root for her success even though I didn't like her. That takes some skill and I appreciate it. This character's ending was also very satisfying and I'm happy with how it all turned out.

All in all, this series is a fantastic epic adventure with some fun (and amusing) heists, a great cast of characters who form a rag-tag squad (sometimes separated into two groups). The plot is twisty, unexpected and yet still follows some of the major tropes of classic fantasy while playing around with them and adding intriguing moments that are different from what one would expect. I particularly enjoyed the magic system. It is simple, yet a few deft twists allowed it to be intricate, and made the final reveal in the battle against the dark lord really interesting.

By the time my Fate of Wizardoms series ended, world-altering events had taken place. Some characters died, while others stood triumphant. The events concluding the story were sure to greatly impact the Eight Wizardoms, which offered a wonderful platform for a new tale in the same world. At the same time, I was unwilling to say goodbye to the characters I had grown to love (or hate). Thus, I felt compelled to craft a sequel series. Thankfully, my readers wanted more as well.

Wizardoms: God King Rising is the first book in the Fall of Wizardoms epic, a direct sequel series to A Contest of Gods, the last book in the Fate of Wizardoms saga.

Wizardoms God King Rising by Jeffrey L. Kohanek

Readers can expect more action, intrigue, humor, magic, and twists as the Eight Wizardoms draw toward a spectacular, yet devastating, end. New characters join beloved ones from the prior series. If you are wondering: Yes, I do love witty banter (especially between couples), and I find it impossible not to include a solid dose of snark.

As of this writing, God King Rising is available for preorder and will soon be in the hands of eager readers. Five more books will follow, concluding the series by the end of 2021. I hope you will join me for this thrilling adventure.

You can find the book on Amazon using this link: https://geni.us/GodKingRising

What an epic finish to an equally epic tale!

A Contest of Gods, the last book of the Fate of Wizardoms series, is a race to the finish, jam-packed with unexpected twists, bloody battles, destructive magic, mythical creatures, and last but not least - GODS!

As our heroes gather to save the world, their pasts are revealed, along with an intricate web of events weaved throughout history, not in the least over the course of the 6 books. Indeed, the truth of the story spans many, many years... And the revelation gave me goosebumps! Kudos to the author for creating such a complex yet easily followed storyline.

Here, in A Contest of Gods, the reader is taken on a wild adventure, left to fret as some enemies become allies; others believed to be trustworthy prove the opposite.

Great world-building, fantastic characters, edge-of-the-seat action, sweet romance, unbreakable friendships, hilarious banter, and a thumping climax; this series has it all!

But it is not for the faint of heart, for this story is heartbreaking as well as it is entertaining, making one just as likely to cry as one might laugh. I cannot believe it has come to an end, and I'm truly saddened, no matter how satisfying the conclusion.

I absolutely loved this story, start to finish! I cannot recommend it enough!

Note: I listened to the audiobook narrated by Travis Baldree. It is a high-quality production and truly brings the story and its characters to life. I highly recommend this means of enjoying Fate of Wizardoms!
