Join Matt Drake and his team in the fight of their lives . . .
In a new world, Drake and the SPEAR team, no longer attached to Special Forces, have separated to avoid their enemies. An unhappy Alicia Myles finds the wild and raucous streets of the French Quarter of New Orleans a welcome distraction. Drake heads for the wilderness of Colorado, whilst Hayden joins friends in LA, only to arrive as old rivals carry out a revenge attack.
But it’s Alicia who finds herself in more trouble than she can handle.
Marinette has a dark and carnal reputation. She lives in Black Snake Swamp, a legendary no-go area for locals. She smuggles guns, people and drugs, and indulges her need for fresh body parts. But this is only the tip of the iceberg. Marinette has a more sinister master—Baron Samedi, the Voodoo God of the Dead.
And the great ceremony is coming—a vision of Hell in which the SPEAR team, captured and drugged, conscious but coerced, will be forced to take part.
Against their will, they have already worshipped Marinette, but now stand ready to do the ultimate bidding of the Voodoo Witch Queen of New Orleans as hypnotic fires rage, forbidden rituals begin, and the Voodoo Soldiers rise up from their graves . . .
International bestselling author of twenty one thrillers, thirteen in the Matt Drake Action/Adventure series, also The Disavowed and Alicia Myles series'. All available for the Amazon Kindle.
OMG!! Just as you thought Matt Drake and the former, (now dispersed) SPEAR Team's adventure missions couldn't get any more brilliant, along comes #26 - the breath-stealing, heart-stoppingly tense Voodoo Soldiers.
David Leadbeater is a literary god among action-adventure-suspense thriller-writers, in a supreme, positively-engaging, amazing, realistically terrific, exciting, action-packed maelstrom of brilliance, as he delicately scrapes his nails on your mind's 'imagination blackboard', making you ready to scream, as the tension ramps up exponentially with each building sub-plot, towards the exquisitely vibrant climax, during which the Team, along with others sworn to help them - ultimately bring down, (or do they?) Marinette, a voodoo witch Queen of a New Orleans black swamp 'realm of darkness and evil malevolence, that reminded me of Tia Dalma/Calypso, (in her spooky location in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies) or Rose the Hat in Dr Sleep, (with her fear-contolled acolytes and soul-stealing ways).
An outstanding addition to David Leadbeater's sensational Matt Drake series, Voodoo Soldiers will haunt you for some time to come and is not for those of a nervous disposition, (especially during the second half) but I definitely believe it's worthy of a 25-star rating and my highest possible recommendation for fervent supernatural thrill-seeking fans, of tales of the unexpected...
Don't wait to get your copy today...I am your Queen and you WILL obey me in this...then tell all your friends, so they can meet the Voodoo Soldiers too - at the zenith of the bestseller lists everywhere!
After the death of President Corbin all of the task force teams were disbanded now they are just ghosts. It was suggested that they take a break apart so Drake takes off to the woods Alicia, Can and Shaw head off to New Orleans Mono and Hayden decided on a bit of us time and Mia went home to see her family. Drake enjoyed a bit of me time ended up saving a girl from a serial killer, meanwhile Alicia and co end up going from bar to bar Alicia never knowing when to stop gets in to bother and Cam comes to her rescue and in doing so gets kidnapped. She calls Karen for help but doesn't wait and her and Shaw also get caught. Next it's Hayden and Monos turn to the rescue and they too are caught as are Drake, Dahl and kenzie. Marionette is a voodoo witch and has drugs them to do her bidding. Meanwhile Karen contacts Mia who gathers a group of ex soldiers and actually gathering information and forming a plan they set off to save their friends. David Leadbeater ha out done himself this time I highly recommend this book
Yet another example of the author taking his characters in a new adventure and bringing the storyline together in a way that leads you to the conclusion is that although the characters separate and go on different directions eventually events bring them back together to fight the forces of evil as a team and makes them realise that they operate better as a team than individuals proving the old adage of strength in numbers. Looking forward to reading the next instalment of the Matt Drake series.
OMG! If you are not reading this author, you are missing out! This one of my favorite authors. The team needs to be together, they do not function well without each other. I recommend this series to anyone who wants to read about great characters and a fast action pace thrill ride. Get the mans books and leave your reviews! Thank you for using KU.
Concept was risky but I liked it. The obvious message of team over individual was clearly portrayed and we got another amazing villain out of the deal. Mai came across best here followed by Cam, Shaw and Alicia being her usually excessive self. Don't know how much longer you can do it but this certainly wasn't the end! Fun and entertaining! Five stars!
Voodoo Soldiers (Matt Drake Book 26), 5 STARS, by David Leadbeater is in so many ways the most horror filled book I’ve ever read! Leadbeater is such a talented writer, and says this was great fun to write! Wow. Book 27 is coming next year - I can’t wait. Don’t hesitate to read this one.
Great novel. Incredible storyline terrifying new villains, and tons of dropped character hints. I really enjoyed this one and the last oh fifteen chapters or so require bingeing. You won’t be able to put it down. I’m interested to see where Conner ends up as a character. He has tons of potential. Can’t wait for the next one.
Voodoo Soldiers has more twists than San Francisco’s Lombard Street, and I enjoyed following the trail. This is not a drastic departure from the team’s usual adventures, but it is different enough to be very intriguing. As always, I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
I'm sorry that I can only award 5 stars to this book. By far the darkest of this series and probably the best. Anyone not in the Matt Drake club, start at the beginning, you will not be disappointed.
Not a fan of voodoo fiction so I didn't enjoy this story line. In today's world there are more events that would offer better objective story lines. It took awhile for me to read because it didn't hold my interest,
I can never start to read and stop I have to reach the e to find out how goes but knowing they will make it. Best team ever and David Leadbeater is the best author ever
I have read every single book that David has knocked out and every one is a brilliant page turner. I've said it before and I'll keep saying it, why aren't these books films yet? They'd be amazing, so long as they kept true to the book.
The SPEAR team is no more, split as they try to stay under the radar, but they will always be their for each other, if needed. Good book that moves at a nice pace, as the team are drawn back to each other to take down the Voodoo Queen.
Highly recommended read. Always with the right amount of pace to keep things interesting and make this a difficult book to put down. Different direction from the usual bad guys. Looking forward to the next installment.
What an absolutely storming novel this is. From the off you see it going in a very different direction to the previous books, but it certainly did not spoil the team SPEAR legend, and by the by, that ending superb.
Voodoo Soldiers (Matt Drake Book 26) by David Leadbeater. The team breaks up to avoid retaliation from their enemies. Alicia heads for New Orleans with Cam and Shaw where they encounter trouble they can’t get out of. Without the rest of the team.
Another great read. Just as you think they are all washed up the story brings their separate adventures into one that brings about their reunion. Plenty of action - great stuff.
