Highbury is falling under an enchantment, and a vengeful witch is on the prowl. Hearts and lives are in desperate peril. Can Highbury’s fairy Godmothers break the curse and save the village? The story reaches a dramatic climax in this charming fairy-tale adventure. A variation of Jane Austen’s Emma.
When she’s not writing stories or thinking up stories or reading other people’s stories, Nina likes to paint and collage pictures, get taken for long walks by her adorable dogs, and cook all things plant-based. She also does other things, like office work, but that’s the boring bit. She lives very happily in rural Cornwall, England with her family.
‘Theft,’ said the North Wind, glaring at Rue. ‘Corruption.’ She stared at Myrtle. ‘Folly of every kind.’ She turned her icy gaze to Harriet.
Yes, yes mistakes were made to be sure, but in the end everything worked out.
I will note, that for those who were enchanted into a different form when they were turned back to normal they lacked clothes. Nothing graphic but most embarrassing for those who were freed from the enchantment.
Harriet was probably my least favorite character character in the end. She mostly blushed and worried throughout the series which I found disappointing for she was the first character we were introduced too but there was no real character growth she couldn’t even find the thief of her wards match even though that’s what she should have been doing the entire time.
The whole Magic and Matchmaking idea is interesting but Magical Matchmaking never proved useful in the storyline for all but two couples who were matched in the end found each other without the help of a Godmother or magic.

The concept behind this series is something a bit different which I appreciated. And I needed to know how it all ended so badly that I read book 2 & 3 back-to-back in just 2 days. The story was quite clever and needed all 3 books to fully play out. I just wish the male characters and their relationships with their matches were better developed - there was just something missing.
What a fun and exciting ending to this Emma inspired tale! This book was nonstop magical action and whimsy with a beautiful ending. I would love to see the Godmothers Rue and Myrtle turn up in another Jane Austen fairytale. Or have Nina Clare just make each novel a completely new and magical retelling. So cute and fun!
