One witch. One very unsuspecting town. *Miranda*I spent my childhood being bullied by the other children in town. They didn’t like me… they were afraid of me, I was told. Afraid of what? I’d asked but had never gotten an answer. Then Grandma died and everything around me began to change. The trees withered and an almost deadly accident made me more of an outcast. It wasn't like an act of nature was my fault…*Luken*Babysitting Miranda on her new path isn’t exactly how I want to spend my time. But the council had deemed it necessary. I definitely didn’t expect to find a beautiful, lonely girl living in a house that appeared ready to collapse. This couldn't be right. Reality didn’t mesh with the legend of her grandmother. Then things became clear. Her grandmother had hidden everything from the powers Miranda possessed to the untold wealth she’d amassed. And now it fell on me to teach Miranda everything.Vengeance might be too tempting as I try to lead her toward the light. Choices have to be made and time is working against her. Unless she can learn to control that, too.
Heather Young-Nichols is a USA Today Bestselling author of contemporary and paranormal romances. She writes swoony heroes and snarly heroines with a heap of romance.
When she's not writing, she's binging a show with her kids, watching baseball, or snuggling with her cuddly animals.

This is a fascinating new world. Though it feels enough like that it could back onto the author’s Empowered universe, so it doesn’t feel altogether unfamiliar. There are lots of threads of intrigue buried carefully throughout this story that make me think we’re in for a wild ride in subsequent books. I really liked Miranda and Luken. Their “newness” to magic made their story even more relatable to all of us on the outside. And their feelings of isolation made them easy to connect with – especially during this particularly in the middle of current world events. Miller was the perfect comic relief and I’m really hoping to see him as the hero in his own book in the future. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from through Booksprout.
Miranda Deerborne has always been bullied and disliked by the other children. No one would ever tell her why, but they feared her. When her Grandma died, Miranda had nothing left but an old house in disrepair, her job at the flower shop in town, and still had no friends after living here for 16 years.
Miller Campbell, Luken MacCormack’s friend and a member of the Council, powerful descendants of the Salem witch survivors, appeared in Luken’s apartment to tell him Serena Good was “unexpectedly” dead. To Luken’s surprise, Miller had been sent to get him, right now. Luken was not a power player and was confused why the Council would want him particularly.
Luken met the 5 members of the Council. He was told that Miranda’s powers had been bound by her grandmother and would be activated now. Luken was assigned by the Council to provide guidance to Miranda, to help her choose the light and not the darkness. He had to save her without becoming involved with her. He showed up at the cemetery where only Miranda was at the site for her grandmother. His eyes met hers and she felt drawn to him, calmed by him, yet still would not approach him. He finally asked her about renting a room and she agreed to it. But following her back there, he was surprised to find her living in a house that threatened to fall down around her. With her powers, this should never happen! But it soon became very obvious that her grandmother never prepared her for this and had hidden Miranda’s powers and wealth from her. She didn’t even know she was a witch! This would make Luken’s task much more difficult. But he had learned of his own powers late, so he would do his best to make it easier for her.
As truths are revealed by discovering the secrets, Miranda and Luken become closer. Danger and romance swirl around them. Is the darkness trying to get to Miranda? Can they keep each other safe?

Awesome story. Really loved the story line. Miranda only remembers finding her grandmother in her bed deceased. But it is a foggy memory. Her Grandmother raised her from the time she was 3 when her parents died in a plane crash. She was always picked on at school by the Reverend's twin daughters from the time she started school. Luken is called in to the Coven headquarters to go make sure that Miranda follows the path of white witches instead of the dark. He is told that Miranda has a lot of powers that she knows nothing about. He decides to meet her at the cemetery where she is burying her grandmother. He asks her if she has a room to rent cause he has a job nearby and needs a place to stay. Luken doesn't tell her she is the job. When Miranda is showing him to a room to use, he asks about the other doors and Miranda says they have been locked forever. He tries one unknown to her and the knob turns but he doesn't open the door. It gets a lot more interesting when you read the book. Miller, who trained Luken, is sent to help with Miranda's training but you read the book to see what happens next.

After the death of her grandmother Miranda is alone in the world. She lives in a small town (Warwick) where everybody seems to hate her and she has been bullied all her life. She has nothing left but the old dilapitated house so she is fine to rent out a room to handsome Luken, whom she meets at the graveyard after the funeral. Luken explains to surprised Miranda she is a witch. His mission is to make sure Miranda chooses white magic instead of black, but he cannot tell her.
Overall an easy read. It has potential but I am not sure if the author wanted to write fantasy or a (steamy) romance. The storyline is rather simple and with some very explicit scenes. The timeline was a bit off it seemed but even then Miranda and Luken fell into bed on the second (?) day. I did think there was some strange character behavior and resolution to the main issue. Would recommend for a light beach read.

I will try to do this with as little spoilers as possible. Luken is sent to help Miranda after her grandmother passes because Miranda doesn’t know she’s a witch. Luken’s friend Miller comes later to help and they discovered that Miranda is a descendant of Sarah Good. Now I’m sure if you’re familiar with the Salem witch trials you know where the story is headed. For everything that Miranda had been through she was an amazing person, I quite enjoyed her character. The big confrontation was disappointing and a bit anticlimactic but it wrapped it up in a neat little bow. There’s no cliffhanger although it does hint at what the next book will be about.

Miranda was bullied as a child she didn’t know why but they were scared of her then her grandmother dies and weird things start to happen around her, Miranda’s grandmother had so many secrets from Miranda she had bound Miranda’s powers but when she died Miranda’s powers came full force. Luken is told by the council that his next job is to make sure that the powerful witch Miranda who has no clue about anything takes the course of the light and not the dark and when he meets Miranda in the cemetery they are instantly attracted to each other. There is so much going on in this story but that’s all I’m going to give you, fantastic story and I can’t wait to read book 2 and I highly recommend this book.
Miranda was bullied all throughout her schooldays, living a lonely life of poverty and seclusion with the grandmother who raised her. When her beloved grandmother dies, Fate stacks grief and doubts about the future to her already-miserable existence. Suddenly, two hot guys show up to “rent a room” in her ramshackle house. They turn everything she knew about her grandmother and herself upside down. Even her house isn’t what she thinks it is. This rags-to-riches — actually “rags-to-witches” — romantic story is fun and full of surprises. I loved reading about how Miranda faces all the challenges her new life.
Miranda is dealing with grief over the loss of her grandmother... the last member of her family. She lives in Warwick, a town that has NEVER been kind to her or her grandmother. Luken comes to town and changes everything. What's a girl to do when she suddenly discovers her whole life has been a lie. Truths are revealed, secrets shared, and both Miranda and Luken discover a completeness they never thought possible. There is chemistry galore between these two. This story has a nice blend of drama, danger, chemistry and romance. Looking forward to seeing what comes next in this series.
This is the story of Miranda and Luken. How they meet and the fascinating story of what happens next. Miranda's grandmother dies and Luken shows up to be her teacher of sort to guide her to chose to be a good witch. The story was interesting to read as Miranda begins to learn the secrets of her family. Both Miranda and Luken were cool characters and fun to read about as Miranda really becomes the woman she can be. The story made me laugh and groan and root for Miranda and Luken. A fun world full of magic.
Her whole world starts to fall apart after her only family member, an aunt, passes. A man she meets at the cemetery asks for a room to rent. He has surprises ahead for her, as well as trying to keep her on the intended path. So many characters and backstories come into play, as well as twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. Could not put this down as I was transfixed into finding out what happens next. What a wild ride.

Witch of Warwick (Dark Coven Book 1) is the beginning of this new realm that is magical. Secrets are revealed, lies are untold and friendships formed. Romance is intertwined with dark magic and the element of danger. Descriptively detailed world building settings and fleshed out characters. I love reading tales about witches and im looking forward to reading the next book in this young adult paranormal romance series.

This is the first book by this author that I've read, and I really enjoyed it. The main character discovers that witches exist, and that she is one on becoming orphaned by her only remaining family. Well written, good world building and endearing characters all made this a great read for me. I will defintely read more of this series.

A fascinating tale of a young woman trying to navigate a world that is new to her. The story had an intense, exciting vibe and the story was fast paced. I loved her character and I totally enjoyed reading this story.
This was a great book. I wasn't sure I was going to like Miranda with her serious self-confidence issues. Then she started to grow. I look forward to more from Miranda and Luken.

A really awesome book that has A really wonderful storyline. This is the first book I have read by Author Heather Young-Nichols. But it won't be my last. Enjoyed reading...
I enjoyed this book a lot. The story is interesting and the characters have great chemistry. I wish it was longer because I would have liked more development in the story and in Luken and Miranda's relationship. It seems like I barely got to know them and then the story was over.
Action packed, emotionally thrilling adventure filled with magical and exciting charters, witty dialog, heart racing twists and undeniable passion. Really enjoyed this highly entertaining and engaging journey from beginning to end.
