This story was my first introduction to an Online Dating/Online Gaming setting, and it honestly did not disappoint. This is the perfect short read if you need something lighthearted and fun, with the added bonus of an omegaverse setting. (brief spoilers below) The strongest part of this book is definitely its worldbuilding and plot - the book's setting relies heavily on the online world of the game for a good two-thirds of the story, and revolves around the protagonist tsundere Yue Fan's return after a lengthy unintentional hiatus. I really liked that we were able to see his reunion with his old gaming friends, as well as establishing himself as a powerhouse within the game. The Omegaverse aspect of the story is secondary in comparison to the rest of the plot. It is presented as a secondary gender, and doesn't often come up in-game besides briefly in the beginning. It really comes to shine in the latter half of the story, when Yue Fan finally begins his first year of college, and is central to the plot outside of the game. The romance is lacking, to be frank. It starts off with Yue Fan and Jiang Xiao fake dating online, before Jiang Xiao falls in love with Yue Fan, shamelessly pursuing him online and in real life. To be honest, it was all just a little boring and unconvincing. It was hard to believe that Jiang Xiao fell for Yue Fan out of their limited interactions in the game, so I think this story would have benefited from exploring his attraction a little more. The main conflict with them not being able to be together is due to the case of "mutated pheromones," but the conflict ends up being easily resolved in the end. Personally, I loved the characters of Yue Fan and Qin Xiujie the most. Yue Fan acting so coquettish was so funny and charming it made me instantly love him. His cousin, Qin Xiujie, was so meddling and conniving, I loved him so much. Jiang Xiao...ah, I wanted to love him but again, he was just...not very charming. Anyways, story ranks 4 stars for general enjoyment and easy read.
This novel definitely has moments of comedy, face-slapping, drama, being fed dog food, and pity. It's pretty well-rounded, but also maybe a little too fast-paced (Yes, I want moreeeee D:). It's just a 64+4-chapters novel, so really, just spend about 10 hours on this cute novel.
It's a gaming (not e-sports, no competition involved!) novel with an omegaverse/ school-life background. Plus points for this novel are that it's really quite funny, it's fast-paced (no dragged-out drama/ misunderstandings), and there is practically no discrimination between the different genders. In the world setting, it's pretty common to have kids born from AB parents, which I felt seems to be rare in other ABO novels.
There are quite a few plot twists which I really appreciate, as they make the novel more intriguing and they really captured my attention. .
Our innocent, tsundere, spitfire MC is really cute and funny. I like that he doesn't immediately get together with the yandere (mild), cunning ML. TBH, it seems as if most of the tops/ gongs/ semes in the novel are pretty much cunning/ black-bellied in one way or another. Not that I'm complaining.
I feel that 一世华裳's way of writing really captures my attention. Furthermore, the novels with completed translations have really interesting descriptions. Hence, Imma be on a 一世华裳 reading streak~
