When the eccentric Blanche Porter reports that her beloved Mr. Cheeters has vanished, it isn't your standard missing persons case. As Nancy Drew soon discovers, Mr. Cheeters, is a pet chimp. Or is he? Based on a preliminary investigation and information obtained from Blanche's brother, Lawrence, the River Heights police dismiss the case as bogus – doubting that there ever was a Mr. Cheeters to begin with. But when Nancy Drew discovers there's a missing diamond necklace as well – she's on the case! Can Nancy, along with Bess and George, recover the great ape and the necklace, or has Blanche Porter made a monkey out of Nancy Drew? Ages 8 to 12.

It turns out that an important aspect of the story is the problem Bess has with her allergies, which tend to cause her to sneeze a lot and loudly. She may be allergic to all the stuffed animals she has and she doesn't want to get rid of them.

The mystery itself involves a woman who claims her pet chimpanzee has gone missing. It also seems that the chimp was wearing a diamond collar.

The story talks about some nasty animal testing that went on in the past and how the woman saved one chimp from the labs. The woman, by the way, lives at the Stratemeyer Estate. The woman is also a little bit on the somewhat looney side.

A relative of the woman, though, claims that the chimp doesn't not exist and the woman is just plain crazy. This ends up leading the girls to an old and very run-down circus, an ill tiger, Bess's sneezing being used to trace the chimp, the girls being caught and put in a cage with a very healthy and very hungry tiger, and a demonstration that animals may not be as dumb as some people think they are.

Nancy gets kidnapped (again), and this time gets to learn how to fly a helicopter. Of course, it's either fly it or crash and burn, so the incentive to learn was definitely there.

A fairly good story.

I have a weird relationship with Nancy Drew. I know that I read her books first. I also stumbled across the Bobsey Twins and the Hardy Boys soon afterwards. I’m pretty sure these were in their most original incarnations cause I’m way fucking old.

I certainly don’t remember any details but I do remember that I didn’t much care for the Hardy Boys. I liked the Bobsey Twins a lot and Nancy Drew after the Bobsey Twins.

Where the hell did I find these books? How did I get them? The Library? Beats the hell out of me.

In this genre I finally found my favorite of these types of series the “Alfred Hitchcock and the Three Investigators”. How the hell did that deal come about?

I felt it was the best written and the most ‘modern’ and I was aware even at the time that it was an attempt to write a ‘Nancy Drew-like series’ that appealed to more modern readers and it did.

However, I still have a twinge of nostalgia for Nancy Drew and have always wanted to re-touch that flame and see if it was all just youthful imagination or if there was something really cool there that I want to return to?

So anyway when I found a Nancy Drew comic book I had to try it! So sue me!

The graphic novel is titled “Nancy Drew girl detective. Based on the series by Carolyn Keene”. It sounds weird, like she’s a circus performer because she’s a girl!

I absolutely love the digest size of this book and wish every comic book game this size. It’s published by “Papercutz” who I have never heard of and seems to have an ‘anime-inspired’ drawing style.

The book inside the cover and on the title page has “Mrs. Kusserow” stamped in purple ink. Does a little girl call herself ‘Ms. Kusserow’? Was she afraid of someone stealing her comics? Did she think they would have to bring them back if it had her name stamped in them?

I do remember her boyfriend and he’s definitely part of this story.

I don’t remember her friend ‘Bess’, but it has been a while.

It actually plays out a lot like a Batman/Nightwing story.

She interviews witnesses, breaks into places when their occupiers aren’t home. She really ought to put on some spandex.

Well, it was a cute story and well drawn (though no exceptionally).

I give this book 4 stars. It was definitely good for what it was meant to be and the format and art were excellent. I won’t hunt down any more of these, but I’m glad I read this one.

This story had mystery, it was compelling. I wanted Nancy to find Mr. Cheeters. It was a fun read exploring with Nancy and her friends as they solved the crime of Mr. Cheeters being kidnapped or should I say ape napped? I even learned a few things about allergies and primates along the way. I enjoyed the way fun facts were thrown into the mix making the story even more interesting. The story kept me wondering what was real and what wasn't. Was Blanch out of her mind like everyone thought and making the whole disappearance up in her head? Or did Mr. Cheeters really exist?
The writing, the story and the drawings were very well done. I'll be reading more of these Nancy Drew Mysteries in graphic novel form....a great idea.

Nancy Drew, girl detective, is back in a graphic novel. When newcomer Blanche Porter says that Mr. Cheeters is missing, Nancy, Bess, and George set out to find him. Then they find out that Mr. Cheeters is nothing but an Chimpanzee that Blanche made up, or is he? Nancy wants to know, is Mr. Cheeters an imaginary ape, or is he real?
Nancy Drew books have pleased people for years, and now its a graphic novel! It has the same characters and mystery solving pals. The age range is 8 and up to 12.
I like this book because its mysterious and fun. My favourite character is Bess, she's like another character I like. There is nothing I don't like about this book.

This book was a great surprise to learn about and see that Nancy Drew was carrying on as a graphic novel now. While I wasn't too keen on the art style, I still sucked it up and enjoyed it. The story was good, but Nancy was a bonehead! She was so absent minded and forgetful, this was nothing like the real Nancy Drew in the main series. I was disappointed about that, but it was still a fun read.
One other thing I am wondering about is where the heck is Helen Corning? Nancy seems to only be hanging out with Bess and George now. Don't get me wrong, I like Bess and George, but I liked Helen too.

When Blanche Porter’s pet, Mr. Cheeters, goes missing, she seeks the help of Nancy Drew and her friends. Oh, by the way, Mr. Cheeters is a chimpanzee wearing a diamond necklace. Despite the town thinking Ms. Porter is an oddball, Nancy is taken with the love she has for her pet and agrees to search for Mr. Cheeters.

When Blanche’s brother, Lawrence comes to town to calm his sister, Nancy believes he’s there under false pretenses. Can she find Mr. Cheeters before it’s too late?

This is my favorite of the series that I've read so far; it's clever, compassionate, and especially funny. The first page, for instance, sets up what looks like a terribly dangerous situation--only to have it deflated when you turn the page. There are pro-animal messages, but they aren't overdone. Also, there were some clever twists that kept me guessing.

Nancy is on the case for an eccentric woman named Blanche Porter who is searching for her missing pet chimp. Chaos ensues as Nancy and her friends George and Bess solve the mystery of the missing chimp. The story was ok, but I enjoyed Writ in Stone more than this one. Ah well sometimes in a series there are some duds. This may just have been a dud. Oh well. On to the next!

Didn't know they had started making these into a comic series. But upon reflection it makes sense.

E brought some home and I read them. Ok. But I like the books better. She liked the action agent part a bit more than the Nancy Drew sort of silly mysteries. Overall she likes the combo Drew-Hardy comics best.

God knows why I still read kids books at my age but I cannot resist a nancy drew story. I am obsessed with the graphic novels. Although the story is a little lame with a chimpanzee called Mr Cheeters is missing, it was still an entertaining read

I liked this manga version of Nancy Drew. The artwork was a whole lot better than the Hardy Boys version by the same company for some reason. It was a fairly quick read, but still fun all the way around. Wouldn't mind reading a few more of this manga series.

The book was a little boring. But it would be good for kids to read. I liked that the girl wouldn’t give up on finding the ape. I also like that the guy got defeated in the book.
