Young, confident, and a bit too naive for the big city, Criminal Psychologist Sarah Parker has been hired to help track down Jacob Perry – a notorious killer who has evaded the police for years. If she can bring him to justice, she just might prove that she's worthy of a permanent position with the department.
In one tense moment of being in the right place at the right time, she finds herself alone, face to face with the object of the hunt. To keep him from killing again, she heroically offers her companionship to the lonely man. In exchange, he guarantees the safety of his next intended victim.
Unexpectedly, a connection begins to build between the two who are on opposite sides of the law. Learning about Jacob's dark past increases Sarah's feelings of compassion – possibly even love – for the man she is supposed to fear, and she begins to question everything about what she's been hired to do.
Now she finds herself forced to choose: secure her dream job by bringing Jacob to justice, or aid him in his pursuit of redemption — taking the risk that he'll betray her trust and slip from her fingers once again.
What will she choose?

I really liked this book. I found the dialogues natural and well written. I liked the way the characters do stuff at the same time as they talked. Didn't make it too static as some books can be. It feels like stuff are happening at the same time as they are talking.
I also liked the no-nonsense writing, as some stuff happened pretty quickly compared to most books where it’s more slow-paced. The author pushed her way through and made it a part of her writing style. At the same time, I wish that some of the story bits had been a little more slow-paced. I would also have liked to see more of the other characters. But the true stars of the book were Sarah and Jacob and if more time was used on other characters, then maybe they would've suffered.
I really did like Sarah and Jacob. Sarah was established as a pretty likable character at first. Some depth was added to her no-nonsense sense of being; like when she gave the keys to the moving people to go with Mike and start the work with Jacob. I also liked that she had ruthlessness to her, and wasn’t one to stay behind and wait.
Jacob was an enigma and I didn't know what to think about him at first. He was kinda boring at first, but then layer upon layer opened up and we saw how vulnerable he was.
The relationship between Jacob and Sarah quickly deepened and I really liked their interactions. It was sweet but at the same time we got to know them quite well. We learned more about Jacob, but at the same time I also think that Sarah got a lot of development too. I really liked this book and would recommend it to everyone here.
Jacob Perry wasn’t a bad man; he was a lost man, a broken man, a man who recognized that something was wrong in his life and needed help to fix it. He needed someone like her – someone who could see him as more than just a criminal, someone who wanted to understand his heart and get to know not only the man he is, but the boy he used to be and the man he wanted to become.
This unique character study follows criminal psychologist Sarah Parker, who walks a thin and murky line after getting emotionally involved with a man she was supposed to be helping bring to justice.
Decently developed characters and an interesting storyline highlight this solid debut effort by author Cassie Beebe.
I loved this book for so many reasons. It had twisted you don't expect, people more complex, and the writing is beautifully done. 10 out of 10. Gonna go read book 2 now!
I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I was not sure what was going to happen when I read this book. I went in thinking that I was not going to like Jacob as a character. It was more that enjoyed what Sarah made him become as she spent time with him. It was a book that kept me turning the pages so I could see how everything turned out. It had my heart racing at time and biting my nails at others.
This is such a well written, gripping read. I loved the characters and felt pretty instantly invested in what was going to happen to them. I didn't want to put it down, and I can't wait for a second book!
A very good read. Managed to get through it in a weekend and still wanted more. Sarah is sharp and Jacob is mysterious enough that you just want to reading to figure him out and they surprisingly make an interesting pair.
OMG! I just got this book and I CANNOT put it down! You think you have it all figured out and then it turns on you! LOVING it! Can't wait to read more from this author in the future...
Sarah Parker is a newly qualified criminal psychologist with the opportunity of a lifetime: a secondment to the Manhattan Police Department that, if she does well, could turn into a permanent position as their resident psychologist. She is dropped in the middle of an unresolved case: that of the notorious killer Jacob Perry, who seems to have some pattern to his murders that has yet to be discovered. This is a novel and a character with an interesting agenda. Forgiveness is at the heart of Sarah’s attitude to life and her attitude to crime. This is an interesting and exciting dynamic, as crime thrillers often steer away from moral grey zones. Yet any decent lawyer has studied the power of rehabilitative justice and knows there is no black and white. Of course, this is a romance novel, and here it provides some interesting twists. There’s an obvious tension with one of the police officers, enhanced by their difference of opinion about forgiveness, then suddenly there’s a whacking great twist and the book goes in an unexpected direction. I wasn’t always comfortable with the story, which I imagine is part of the point. If you like bad boys with hearts of gold than this may be in your territory – although it was a bridge too far for me, it was a hell of a concept for a romance! Equally, if you like a book that makes you think about criminal justice, a book that keeps you on the edge of your seat, and not even sure how you want the book to end, try this out. Keep No Record has a sequel, Broken Together, but works fine as book on its own.
