holy moly this book. oh so beautifully written and a reminder that Jesus does everything he does out of his love for us. A love that is beyond understanding, without conditions, and never changing. A (very) few of the many lines that struck to my heart.
“God is only pleased with Jesus, not you. By faith, you stand before God as Christ, because Christ stood before God as you.” HOLY GOODNESS WOW.
“Refusing to sin is inferior to refusing to depart from Him. Jesus didn’t die to keep you from sinning. He died to have your heart. He washes sin away to take you in His arms. Some have a Christian life that’s been reduced to attempting to avoid sin. Yet you won’t get into heaven by refusing sin. Only Jesus can impute the righteousness you need to enter. You can’t wash you. He must wash you. Just as He is righteousness for us. He is righteousness through us.” - this struck a cord with me so deeply. I felt called out in the best way possible. A refreshing reminder that I can fight my sin on my own and that sanctification is not just about “sinning less”, rather becoming more like God because we are falling more in love with him. This book also gave a whole new gravity to the symbolism of marriage/union. What an amazing God to serve who is so intricate in the details!

Refusing to sin is inferior to refusing to depart from Him. Jesus didn't die to keep you from sinning. He died to have your heart. Sin is the result of Him not having your heart. He washes sin away to take you in His arms.

First off let me say, I wanted to highlight every single word in this book because.. i honestly don’t know what to say. It was beautiful. It emphasized and detailed who we are, and we are Christ’s Bride, not soldiers, not warriors. But His love. Each part of this book has made me think, to reexamine my heart so I can be pleasing to him. There’s so much more that wants to come out of me but the feeling in my bones and relief in my mind after reading this book is just enough for me to write out. Jesus is so so good.

sweet & short lil book!! making me a lil teary eyed about how God views us as brides, how he continually chases us down & pursues us! he is where our satisfaction lays & he wants to satisfy & fill us, not with worldly desires but with him (psalm 23)!!

Such an incredibly sweet and tender book that shifted my perspective and deepened my love for Christ. I sometimes forget how God sees me, and this was a beautiful reminder that He wants my heart. “The act of two becoming one means the loss of self in another.” I want to be lost in my Savior!

Really enjoyed adding this to my quiet time! Short book, not about earthly brides, but being His bride (so applicable to us all)! I truly feel there’s a need to understand who we are to Christ as the Groom and His deep love for us as His bride. Something I’m continually learning recently and it’s so beautiful!

i was gifted this little book recently and i had originally thought it would be about marriage so i avoided it for quite some time, but it is not simply just about marriage. it is about a relationship with Jesus, our bridegroom.
if you have been locked in legalism for whatever reason, i very strongly urge you to read this. it strikes in at only about 30 pages as about half the booklet is for personal notes, but eric truly has much to say in little words. i cannot even begin to describe how this has confirmed what i have known in my heart for a long time. everything is backed by scripture. please pick this one up!

The church is obsessed with telling people that marriage is meant to reflect Jesus’ relationship with the Church as an encouragement to pursue holiness within the marriage covenant. But what does that mean for us, as brides, in the covenant that started the moment we gave our lives to Christ?
Eric Gilmour exhorts his readers to be the brides of Christ, finding our full satisfaction in Him. The book transformed my way of how I see my part in my relationship with God, what it really means to be fully satisfied in him.
It’s a quite short book, definitely can be read in one sitting. I would recommend end for people to read one chapter at a time and meditate on what is being said.

Eh. I really enjoyed Childlikeness and Love Him by Gilmour. This one, not so much...
The best parts are the last 2-4 pages, which are worth reading. The rest struck me as too... vague...generalized...strange...? I call God my Husband, though I am married here on earth too, so I am not unfamiliar nor squeamish with the 'bridal' language in reference to God; nonetheless, the first half of the book went too far for me to enjoy.

This one sitting read came to me at divine and perfect timing. It was a soul healing book at that time because it just dripped with the love of God. The language is so beautiful and it re-centered me in what's most important, not my striving but Him and being His bride. Since then I've given away several copies as gifts and recommend it as a devotional resource.

It took to a long time to actually sit and finish this book, but it has left a mark on my heart. I am so often clinging to my past and where the Lord has worked, instead of looking to where He is moving now, and where He is currently calling me. I am called to be a bride, and to prepare my heart for my groom!

Read this short book with Bella...and I was super excited to read it but maybe I need to take more time with it? We read it within like 30 minutes (the shortest book I've ever read I think)! Some good points and illustrations written out buttttt didn't hit as hard as I expected it to. It almost read like a poetry book?
