Out of the Frying Pan... is a joy to read, and reading this book is as easy and fun as eating pizza—the chapters are even divided into slices! How many chefs do you know who would build their own traditional pizza oven? This is a wonderful story of a father and son team who take a leap of faith and devote themselves to renovating a storefront and creating a kitchen where the perfect Neapolitan pizza is baked and served. Frank Sr. walks you through the process of finding the building, demolishing the earlier interior, and reconstructing the inside. He explains the much-needed inspiration, preparation, and persistence needed to choose floor tiles and fixtures, and the monumental task of assembling the pizza oven. He even includes the the drama of final inspections and opening day.
Follow along as Franks Jr. and Sr. make Jr.’s dream come true, prefaced with biographical data about the two and their families. It’s a fascinating, and humor-filled tale, and you’ll never eat a slice of pizza again without a new-found appreciation of what went into the process.
