A raging tempest of vexing exigency and perplexing events, observing the taxing trials and arduous tribulations, stumbling through the startling twists and wicked turns, testing our characters in ways they could have never envisioned. Restrictions are heightened and exploited, baring all the hard facts, deals and debacle, igniting a fierce vengeance, shifting this jewel into overdrive, kicking it into a frenzy with a mind-blowing realization. One heart pounding, pulse racing, adrenaline pumping, block buster, catapulting this gem to a whole new realm. The characters, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits add diversity, transforming into formidable personalities. The Mistake, a prequel to Sloan Calder’s The Birthday and The Call of Fire, follows a short dramatic period of Aleron Foussé. He’s a 17 year old up and coming Fire Alpha who has lived a guarded and safe life until his world is turned upside down by the revelation of how his supernatural world really is. After being asked by his parents to participate in a desperate mission, his world is devastated! I am greatly looking forward to reading The Call of Fire to see if Aleron can fix the wrongs in his life.

I enjoyed this novella but I enjoyed The Birthday more than this one. While this had a consistent flow through the handful of time jumps, I find the story didn’t hold me as well as the next novella did. It was still interesting and certainly caught my attention. Also, once again I find this story concept really great! I’m really looking forward to The Call of Fire and I can’t wait to see what Aleron’s next step in life is! Great short read!

Wow, what an exciting beginning to a new series. Aleron is eighteen years old, and looking forward to college where he will be on his own for the first time. Trouble has been brewing in the Natura community, his father asks him for a favor, and of course Aleron agrees to help. Unfortunately, one little mistake changes Aleron's life in ways he could never have foreseen.
Wonderful characters in an exciting plot with magic, and a little action.

I won this book through goodreads and it's a power packed novella. Aleron Fousse is a wonderful man. He excells at what he does and he has a good and loving family. When asked to help his dad with a task to help his people, he readily agrees. Because they are Naturas, Mother Nature's decendents. As such they live among us and are elementals who are supposed to keep nature under control.
It's a coming of age paranormal romance that pulls at your heart strings. Looking forward to see where Aleron's life takes him.

Aleron Foussé has reached the best part of his life at 18, or so he thinks. The Natura wield one of the four elements (Earth, Air, Fire and Water). Aleron is a powerful fire elemental. Everything is going his way and his future is looking good! But when his father asks him for a favor, the invincible 18-year-old makes a mistake that has lasting repercussions. It was serious enough to destroy all of his dreams.

This was a very good set up for the upcoming series and lets the reader understand why Aleron is filled with vengeance now. Grab your copy and get revved up for the start of the new series!

Aleron Jacques Foussé has it all…..

…wonderful family, lovely girlfriend, good grades and a bright future in sight. As the first-born son of the leader of the Elite One, the enforcement unit of the North American Natura, Aleron idolizes his father and would do anything to help him in any quest he may have. Behind their human appearance the Natura wield one of the four elements (Earth, Air, Fire and Water) and are collectively responsible for the balance of the planet, following the Magnus of each element who is entrusted with a magical cuff that controls the element. The fire cuff is momentarily on the wrong wrist (pun intended) and Aleron’s father ask for his help to remediate this situation. Unfortunately, Aleron makes a disastrous mistake that will change his path forever.

“The Mistake” by Sloane Calder is a very good crafted prequel to the upcoming “Natura Elementals Series” that succeeds in explaining the circumstances that brought Aleron to the situation he will find himself in the next installment in the Series.

Fabulous introduction to this thrilling Natura world with supernatural beings ruled by Mother Nature. Protecting Earth from the humans’ damage. That’s a daunting task! This introduces the teen Aleron and his family as he and his father set out on a mission to right a wrong. The worst happens and Aleron is fixed on a path of revenge with a giant heartache. So sad! I love the exciting set up for future stories and these beings with abilities ruled by the elements. Aleron is a fantastic hero and I can’t wait for the rest of his story. Loved it!

Rcvd an advanced reader copy for giving my two cents. An 18 yr old boy who just graduated and plans on college and marrying his high school sweetheart are cut short when his parents ask him to risk it all to help them stop the man in power. What he didn't count on was what was to happen in that fateful night that shattered his dreams. Ok story.

I know this is supposed to be a short prequel but it really didn’t grab my attention. I will probably pass on this series. Might be good for some.
