Lessons from a Frozen Lily Pad is the second anthology in the F.R.O.G. Blog series. UNTHAWED encompasses a series of blog posts revised from author Christina M. Eder's FROG Blog, plus stories from select contributing authors, and brings the reader along on a journey to growth in and with Christ.
Christina’s words in this sentence struck a resounding thud in my spirit, “I’m humbled to think if I followed God with the intensity with which He pursues me, I wouldn’t be as enticed to chase distractions that haven’t bled for me.” Solid truth packed in those words. I loved the stories shared from contributing guests in the book. There were many moments I felt a connection with the writers as they revealed past struggles and victories. Short reads with much to savor.
One of Christina’s skills is her ability to use words in a creative way. Some examples in “Unthawed” include: • “I defined 2018 as my Year of Intent, and I committed 365 days to answering my lifelong call to write.” The motto for her year was, “I’m so committed to writing that I’m willing to live in a tent to live with intent.” • In the blog, “The First Rock Concert,” she began with Mt 15:18 when Jesus declared, “You are Peter and upon this rock I will build my church.” She then stated that Jesus presented Peter with a “sign on bonus guaranteeing that the gates of Hades would not prevail.” Peter then “jumped onto Jesus’ tour bus,” and then they “invited others to experience a Real Light show. Jesus booked additional tour dates and offered Truth and Wisdom tickets to be eternally redeemed.” • In “Paper Bridges,” she gave a “Warning to lactose sensitive readers: The following includes trace of cheese.”
In addition to creating “word pictures,” the author has a knack for baring her soul in a way that helps readers see themselves in of her stories. Be prepared for many inspirational messages!
Another unique characteristic about Christina is her ability to convince reluctant individuals to share their experiences! You can read more about that in “The Underside of the Lily Pad,” which was a wonderful way to introduce her guest authors who also shared some powerful stories. Whether you enjoy reading books cover to cover or having one you can read short segments at a time, “Unthawed” will not disappoint you!
