When bizarre, immovable black stones appear across the globe, the world's best scientists are baffled. Where did they come from? What is their purpose? When the stones begin to 'wake up' the answers are worse than anyone could have ever imagined. As global anarchy erupts, US Coast Guard Guy Granger sets off on a desperate journey across the Atlantic to find his children.
Elsewhere, Mina Magar is a journalist forced to photograph horrors she can barely believe, while fading pop star Rick Bastion is forced to fight for his survival despite wishing he was dead. When the enemy finally reveals itself, all seems lost.
An apocalyptic saga inspired by such works as Stephen King's the Stand, Brian Keene's the Rising, and Max Brook's World War Z. You'll never see where the story is heading next, so hold on and enjoy the ride.

I dont really know where to start with this collection of books.
So much promise and premise that ultimately went nowhere.
It lost me in book 5 when a character who had previously been flirting with men suddenly became a lesbian. It was almost as if the author did this so its could be an impact when the character she was seing died.
Its also badly written but not all the time, like the author was taken over by a GCSE english student. "Glistening globs of felsh fell off the demon and glistend in the light" is just one example.
It has been mentioned on here in other reviews that the book reads more like a blockbuster hollywood movie. Maybe thats what the author is aiming for.
Very very repetitive as well. Demons get shot and die, shot and die, oh no the hereos are running out of bullets the demons are going to kill them oh here comes some ridiculos deux ex machina to save the day. This happens at least twice in each of the books.
Oh and to compare this collection of novels to Stephen King is an insult to Stephen.
I have just read this 6 book series again; the first time was when he was writing it and I had to wait until the next book came out and you kind of lose the inthensity. Now it is available all together and I have spent over a week reading it, only putting it down when I truly had to - my cat wasn't a fan of my Kindle before but now she hates it and sits on it to hide it every chance she gets {giggle} but I can't blame her cause she needs her cuddles! Anyway, this is the absolute horror series you will ever read but it's cut with humor and even a little romance to give you a breather - trust me - you will need it! If you enjoy being terrified, then this box set is definitely for you! Thanks again Mr Wright!
Thought this was going to be brilliant, seemed to be going great guns, well written, good characters but then it died for me. I couldn't get into the second book. It just seemed to be rehashing the first. I was enjoying it right up to the navy lieutenant back story and he just killed it for me. Vamps story revived it a bit then the story of the policeman, church etc came in and i couldnt get past it. I have promised myself to return to it at some point but it may be a while. To the Author i apologise sincerely as his writingvand ideas are excellent, i just found it a little repetative and had nobody to root for.
Very enjoyable read full of tension and action, scary moments and stomach churning incidents. It is far fetched nonsense but hey, it's a rollercoaster ride with great groups of characters battling to survive Hell on Earth. Suspend belief and enjoy a great read, I read them all back to back, fantastic fun albeit a tad long!
Really enjoyed these books, the language and banter was current and the storyline not what I'd typically go for but characters were believable. Was a little twee at times and some of the main characters were wiped out a, la walking dead but the book had a lot of main characters!! I am reading through a prologue of Tar and it seems pretty good, will be getting the complete book and would recommend
Where do one even start writing a review for this rambling mess? The first book seems like it wants to be Stephen King's The Stand. End of the world, only a select few humans left, and it even has a has-been pop star! But it all fizzles away into nothing... Or perhaps it wants to be a movie script? The thing it fails to do is entertain, to draw the reader in, to drive the story. I managed to struggle my way through all six books, and how many plot lines went nowhere, I have lost track of. Six books of gore and demons and characters dying, but about half a book's worth of story. Kudos for killing off characters, though, this writer might give George R. R. Martin a run for his money on that score. Except you actually care about what happens to Martin's characters. I bought it really cheap, sure, but I still want my money back. My first encounter with this writer, and there will not be another.
Good characters and really great action, just ran through it at break neck speed.I love the outlandish Vamp, and totally awesome Mass. You’ll hate the fallen and some people such as Col.Thomas.You’ll love Maddy and James.Great books every one!
I had read the first two books in the series a while ago and then read some other books. I got back into the series a little while ago and just finished it. I thoroughly enjoy reading Iain Rob Wright. I have read 14 of his books this year. I intend to read more asap.
Gave up partway through the first book..had high hopes but there were many instances of "men writing women" that was insufferable. Dialogue and action felt like a string of corny one liners that didn't flow or add anything than a shoddy attempt at having a "high cool-factor".
If you love horror stories then this book and author is for you A bit too graphic for me, hence 4 stars Gripping story line, characters are totally believable and will continue to read more by Iain Rob Wright
Ian has quickly become my favorite horror author! The characters are so relatable and the storytelling is smooth...grabs you from the first page and doesn't let go!
