Reckless by Lexi Martin
Loved it... this was an utterly fascinating masterwork of sweet, sexy, sophisticated and swoon-worthy romance. This unputdownable page-turning story completely encapsulates the madness of the first stirrings of love and lust when you can’t get enough of someone, yet they each have challenges they need to face. This book held my attention from the beginning—sometimes laughing and sometimes telling them to stop it! Ethan is a single dad looking for a Nanny to stay on his ranch to help take care of his two kids since he wife left and now going through a divorce, and Tori really needed a job. Tori’s sister Kat recommended Tori to Ethan’s brother, but Ethan was skeptical at first, but they soon started to trust each other until Ethan found something out about Tori. Will this be devastating enough for Ethan to fire Tori? The chemistry between Ethan and Tori was undeniable. What happens next? Find out by reading this captivating story. This is the first time I read Lexi Martin’s book, but I hope it will not be my last. With excellent storytelling, Lexi Martin impressed me with this story with not only her lovely writing but an engaging yet easy plot, and delightful setting.
Long Shot by Kennedy Ryan
Wow, this story is an emotional rollercoaster as we ride every high and hit the withdrawal symptoms that the characters endures. This book was heart-wrenching in its emotional angst, highs and lows of the two main characters’ struggles as they help each other try to get what they each need. This was a crushing and, at times, unhinged story that is edgy, suspenseful, guttural with gritty real issues. This book was flawlessly and poignantly written about August West and Iris Dupree’s love story—emotional and exhilarating—this book is best read with tissues nearby. Long Shot drained every bit of moisture from my eyes, and just when I thought I had none left, tears would occur again. I fell head over heels for August and Iris, and I have no doubt you will too. Domestic abuse is a pattern of incidents that transpires in our society constantly. I loved how Kennedy Ryan brought the darkness of abuse to the forefront and didn’t shy away from showing how bad things end up when a person becomes abused and the painful choices you have to face—specifically in the sports world. It's not a glorious thing, it's not an easy thing, and it's not something you just ‘survive’ and then walk away from forever.
August met Iris at a bar the night before he played for the National Championship—his last collegiate game while on the cusp of becoming a NBA player, and they had a connection that was so powerful and so real until Iris informed him that she has a boyfriend. Once August found out that Iris boyfriend was Caleb Bradley, someone he has known growing up, this did not deter him from still wanting Iris. But life managed to tear that connection apart after an incident, and August’s heart is shattered in a million pieces because of fear of not playing. Caleb, Iris and August are in a love triangle that turns violent and tragic. Caleb’s affection for Iris turns into obsession—and love means both devastation and redemption. Iris must fight for the life and love she deserves if she’s going to survive. The characters in this story were so real, so cinematic, it was like they were living and acting right in front of me. Find out what happens next! You will not want to miss this one! This is one story that will stay with me forever. This is the first time I read Kennedy Ryan’s book, but it will not be the last. Kennedy Ryan delivered a powerful, addictive, intriguing, emotional, and all-consuming story that left me obsessed and yearning for more.
Checkmate: This Is War by Kennedy Fox
I loved this enemies to lovers romance. This is an unputdownable, fun, flirty, and delightful slow-burn story that summed up so succinctly the very essence of romance. This book held my attention from the beginning—sometimes laughing and sometimes telling them to stop it! This page-turning story is so endearing with great outer conflicts that don’t inflict the couple with forced angst as they are discovering what could be, yet they each have challenges they need to face. Viola hates Travis, but she has known him since she was 10 and he was 12. Travis is also her brother’s best friend. When Viola accidentally overheard Travis talking about her, she knew she could not avoid him completely, but she was determined to hate him—he is such a douchebag. Everything came to a head when Viola stays at the house that her brother, Drew and Travis rents during spring break. Travis and Viola have a unique—hate/love relationship. They will fascinate you and frustrate you at the same time. Travis is sexy, crass, cruel, and think is is god’s gift to women—meaning manwh**e. With the rules set, now the games begin. Who will be able to Checkmate! Cliffhanger—now onto the next book.
Checkmate: This is Love by Kennedy Fox
This is the conclusion to Travis and Viola’s story. Travis has more or less redeemed himself. Yes, he is still sexy, sinful, but not a douchebag. He has a way of taunting that will have you panting—he does not play fair. Then Mia Montgomery show up again and I thought why! I really hate her. Then Viola doesn’t trust Travis, and this puts a strain on their relationship. There are some ups and downs throughout but it builds to the story as well. The storyline is well thought out and unique. This is an incredible romance that will grab you from the beginning and not let you go until you finish the last page. This is the first time I read a book by Kennedy Fox, but it won’t be the last. Kennedy Fox’s eloquent, fluid style is flawless.
Knocking Boots by Willow Winters
I’m in love with Willow Winters’ books, and Knocking Boots is no exception. I loved this friends to lovers romance. This is an unputdownable, fun, flirty, and delightful slow-burn story that summed up so succinctly the very essence of romance. It was such a great read. I am not kidding, this book was everything. All the things—witty banter, humor, angst, emotions, and all of the steam. And the characters? OMG—talk about Charlie! Charlie owns a bar, is very swoon-worthy, sexy as hell, handsome, and an eligible bachelor who does not want to get married or any kids because he was burned from a previous relationship. Grace is the complete opposite—she is independent, goal oriented, has a great job, wants a husband, home, and kids—kid(s) is her priority before her biological clock runs out. Grace stops in Charlie’s bar most nights from work so that he can fix her different drinks, talk about her problems, so they became friends. Since Charlie’s sister is getting married and in order to keep family off his back, he makes a deal with Grace to pretend to be his fake girlfriend. The chemistry between them is off-the-chart hot. They will fascinate you and frustrate you at the same time, but the banter was everything. This book left me wonderfully content at its conclusion, and I can reread this book over and over again. Willow Winters manages to weave humorous plot lines centered on romantic ideas with artfully developed main characters. The storyline is fluid, and it will pique your interest.
I HIGHLY recommend this book, Keep My Heart!
