Sometimes the penalty for magic is death.

The Midwest Pack used the Clostra to perform a powerful and dangerous spell to save me. Now the pack is dealing with the aftermath and doing damage control. But they can’t hide how the magic has changed the dynamics of the otherworld—or that they are responsible.

Ethan has dangerous secrets and so do I. The worst one: I developed new and disturbing powers reminiscent of a deadly being that once ruled and terrorized the otherworld. What Ethan and I are has been exposed. The penalty for it is a death sentence. The Creed wants to enforce the punishment.

The Midwest Pack’s priority has always been to protect the pack. Protecting becomes complicated when a new pack emerges, aided by a powerful new ally, and tries to take over the Midwest Pack’s territory by force.

In order to survive, the pack must call in all favors and form uneasy alliances. But will that be enough?

McKenzie Hunter is the author of urban fantasy, dark fantasy, and paranormal romance books. She discovered early that new adventures were just a page-turn away; all she had to do was read a book. She’s had her share of escapades from hanging out with vamps, joining the chaos of shifter packs, creating spells with witches, and avoiding deals with the fae.

When she isn't working on her next book, she’s reading, binge-watching TV, or disappearing into her own world during nature walks (probably on the lookout for magical beings—or maybe not).

Aaaargh! So many things but I have to say this is the most exciting installment so far! A lot of satisfying wins with tons of action from everyone but most especially from Skylar.

I loved that:
> Skylar is starting to mature and honing her skills and powers to be the badass I have been waiting for.
> Ethan's red flag is slowly downgrading. Please! We all need a good character redemption for this asshole because really, it had taken 3 books of him being a jackass before he starts improving.
> Skylar and Ethan's relationship is improving and the romance is now at the right direction. Also, have I mentioned they're so hot together? 🥵 Ugh. Please fix their personalities. 🫠
> Sebastian is starting to warm up to Skylar and remains the strongest foundation of the pack despite his hidden political agendas.
> Josh has gotten so much stronger and I really wish he ends up leading the Creed.
> The corrupt leaders of the other world are starting to reveal themselves and possible allies are slowly becoming evident.

I hated that:
> Steven left Skylar. I know that one is inevitable but honestly, all through the 4 books, Steven has been consistent with his care and genuine affection for her. Sometimes friends leaving us hurts so much more than when a lover does. I wish they get past the heartache. 💔
> Quell has to leave. 😭 He genuinely like or maybe love Skylar and his affection and care for her is one of the purest and most human thing in this series.

This book was such a great redemption for book 3 which I kinda hated. I'm glad I persevered. I look forward to more badassery! 😂

My, my my, what an interesting take Ms. Hunter weaves in "Lunar Marked." Our story begins with Skylar doing what she does best, taking care of others. I'm this case, she finds a loophole in which to help Quell. Of course with the 'bat s#$@#crazy' Michaela we already know this has the potential to go very wrong. To make matters worse both Ethan and Sebastian are honor bound to scold Sky over the situation. Steven is back and none too pleased with the Skylar ,Quell relationship as well.

Ethos is back with a vengeance and he and the ever annoying Marcia are playing a deadly game that will only end in bodies likes high. Someone we love on Skylar's team with come close to death. The question is whether or not he will survive. There is a lot of butt kicking going on in this read and no one will escape from it.

On a personal note, Sky finally gets a little nookie! Yay, is it about time! Nope. I won't tell you with whom. Kelly, one of my favorite characters is still missing and I want her found. There is just so much wild and crazy going on you have to carefully read every word for fear you will miss something. My only complaint is I wish Ms. Hunter had better editors because the glaring mistakes continue from book to book. I can't wait to see what will happen next and hopefully see some more bad guys go down!

Love this series!

This series is full of twists that are well written, allowing bits of information to be revealed along the way, keeping it interesting and engaging. I have enjoyed the characters and the way they interact, their friendships, dysfunctional as some may be, and the bonds as well as struggles, both between each other and within themselves. There is a great balance of action as well, and plenty of sarcasm and snarkiness, which keep the reader entertained, intrigued and curious to find out more about the characters as well as the many secrets woven throughout. I am looking forward to the next book to becoming available.

Omg! Why would it end like that I have to say I like this one more than the ones from 1 to 3 at this point you get to see more of where everyone stands and everyone’s roles they have Ethan is everything in this book there’s a few lines he said that had me giggling then He went rogue because of sky. There’s a lot of character growth more for Sky in this book but Ethan 🥰

He’s why I kept going with this book there’s very little spice I’m fine with that but what had me giggling is the protective and jealous sides from both him and Sky. Then there’s Josh and Steven who also grows onto you too but Ethans some else.

I enjoy these books, but sky is one of the least self aware people that I have read, especially when it comes to her relationship with Quell. As long as you understand this about her character, these are a good rad. I liked how she is impacting Ethan and he is changing for the better. Baby steps. I enjoy her relationships with all her pack members. Looking forward to the next novel.

Another series that has a interesting premise but devolves into a shit "poor me" 'heroine', an abusive romantic relationship, and ultimately just a lame job at coming to any sort of conclusion with story lines. So if you like the whole trope of "the bad guy keeps getting more powerful so let me keep making my heroes more powerful to conquer", coupled with a horridly written abusive "romantic" relationship then this series is for you.

There is nothing quite like waiting for a new book release, anticipating how good it will be and it turning out to be even better. I absolutely love this series. Will be adding it to my paper back collection as I know it will be one I can go back on regularly.

I have really loved this series and was hooked from the first book.

It seemed like such an interesting and fresh idea when I read the blurb and it is what made me read book 1 and is what has kept me continuing on reading. I love how the story develops throughout the books and the issues the characters face just keeps on getting bigger and more interesting. The characters are also very well developed - Sky's relationships with the pack are changing and has formed a closer relationship with them, I find Ethan and Josh's interactions fascinating to read and with them being at different ends of the personality spectrum, it's amazing that they don't butt heads more but you can tell the love is there and that they would do anything for each other. I especially love Ethan and Sky's relationship, I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing it grow and develop into what it is now and that it has been gradual and not a "love at first sight" one. It makes for a more interesting read. Sky's personal growth has been great to read and I started off not really liking her at the beginning of the first book due to her silly actions which left me feeling annoyed, to loving her by the end of it, and now I can't get enough. I don't ever want her story to end!

McKenzie has an amazing ability to draw her readers into the world that she has created and makes you feel so many emotions. Even though it is set in a fictional world, she knows how to make the characters believable and relatable which allows the reader to connect with them. She makes you wanting more and more by the end of each book and I'm so happy that I discovered this series.

After finishing this book I am desperate to find out what will happen next, especially with Ethan and Sky, bring on Book 5!!! =o D

Another adventure in the Sky Brooks series, with the mystery of Kelly's disappearance, weird man/animals that aren't quite shifters, and the ever present problem with Quell. Also to keep things interesting, Marcia and the witches keep causing problems and have an interesting ally to help them out.
Sky and Co have their work cut out for them. Sky plays more of an active roll in the story, rather than sitting on the sides and hoping to go along with Josh and Ethan, like in the previous books. Sky grows more as a character, including her relationship with Ethan. The main issue I have is that Sky keeps holding on the Quell and denying his feelings for her, she choses not to see them and it gets a little frustrating. I do like how much she grows. She does stand up for herself and I'm glad she gets to take an active role in her saving for once.
Anytime I do a reread of this series, I usually read from this book onwards because Sky really fills herself out and she gets to be more of an active participant, rather than a passive one. Plus she gets laid.

There is some non-explicit steam in this story, and violence and murder.
The series must be read in order otherwise you will be completely lost.
The book ends at about 88% and the rest is the first chapter of Ethan's book and the first chapter of the next book in the series.

Lunar Marked (Sky Brooks Series Book 4)

I really liked this book, in the series and in order to understand it, you have t read them in order or you will be lost because there were so many unresolved conflicts prior to this book, now some new ones are being introduced luckily this book does resolve some of them. Which is satisfying because it lets you move on to the next issues without so much still being opened and hopefully leaving us wondering what happened.

On the love ❤️ life , I am so happy that they finally got together. Yeah Ethan and Skylar !!! I really hope it develops and doesn't just fall apart. I am looking forward as well to learning more of about Claudia as she is intriguing. I have enjoyed seeing Sky grow and acclimate to her new life more than she was.

I can’t wait to read the next book. So I recommend this series...

Love all your book, I really enjoyed reading the books. Mckenzie Hunter does an amazing job of bringing her characters to life and you get a great sense of who they are. I connected with the characters and I was happy that this book wasn't predictable like other books of this genre. Even the characters you are meant to hate, you find yourself rooting for them as well. When I read Moon Tortured it hooked me in from the beginning, literally by the first chapter. I literally could not put the book down and finished the first one in one day. Yes, I practically stayed up all night to finish it. This book series is one of my faves This book is funny, intense, mysterious and leaves you wanting more. Which is amazing because there’s like 6 books 🎉 SERIOUSLY. READ IT. You won’t be sorry. I’ve even got my mum hooked on it and she loves it as much as I do.

Good

Whenever I read these books and there’s a sexual interaction between Skyler and Ethan I just want to be able to reach into the book and smack Skyler. Apparently she’s one of those women that likes to let people treat her like crap and then sleep with them anyway. Sometimes when she talks about how much she needs him it really irks me because he treats her like crap. Other than those a couple annoying features the story was good. It is getting a little bit boring though because it’s almost the same thing every time I read it. Someone is trying to kill Skyler, she has some kind of sexual encounter with Ethan, or everybody’s trying to keep secrets from each other. I’m hoping the series will end soon but if it doesn’t I’m sure I’ll read the next book until it finally ends.

I bought the first 4 books as a group because of the discount offered, so I kept reading.
There were definitely parts that drew me in, like the training Winter, the wereanimal, gave to Sky, and parts of the relationship Sky had with Quell, the vampire.
The problem I had with this book, and the series in general, was that the evil characters kept returning over and over again. The Pack seemed to never be able to get rid of the bad people and their black magic.
I do like the way Sky has improved over the first 4 books, but the personal relationships amoung the pack were not very engaging.
The ending of this book was a cliff hanger and I highly doubt I will continue on with the series. It just seems to drag on and on.

Slow

Yet again another disappointing book in this series it is slow and tedious and takes a long time of little happening until there is some action. There is perhaps a little more of interest in this book but also lots that has yet to be explained. Ethan still has magical abilities that are not explained Skylar has become linked to a tre'ase that holds her life in his hands and who is making huge demands and the pack released all curses that were meant to stay in place for protection when they released Skylar from a witches curse now they need to put things right we will see what the next book brings.

Well at age 24-25 Skylar has honed herself into a badazz, she can fight, she has reconciled with her wolf and has tried to remain true to her sense of humanity and what is right and wrong. The pack still treats her like a problem child. Josh and the magic is a shaky situation. Ethan continues to run hot and cold and never gives her the full story about anything. Sebastian is dominating as always. Being kidnapped, Sky has figured out a way to save herself as much as possible and keeps an eye on her vampire friend. The vampires, witches, and dark elves get on my last nerve but I am compelled to move on to the next in the series.

Witch fairy,werewolf mystery

I liked all 4 of the books there is so much going on all the secrets, behind the scenes drama and a love story but you are not sure of who she will pick. The first book with sky shows and immature girl and as she matures thru out the series of the 4 books. Sometimes it is hard to find out who the good guys are but you root for them just the same. If you want a book that you won't put down and you want to start on the next one this is a series for.

Finally some things are actually starting to happen, these books have been so slow I wasn’t sure if I should just give up or keep going.

I’m still not the biggest fan of Sky’s character she makes a lot of stupid decisions and drives me nuts

Her relationship with Ethan is interesting he’s still an ass who treats everyone like crap and we know he’s hiding secrets but does she bring out the best in him? We will see

This book ends on a cliffhanger and I can only guess what we’re going to see next

No. Nope. Nooooope.

Ethan is toxic as fuck. I was hoping to be surprised about her (skylar) not ending up with Ethan, but sadly, it didn't happen.

And I can't stress this enough about Skylar and Ethan...🤮🤮🤮

Ethan is a POS, with NOOOOOOO redeeming qualities ( tbf I'm only at chapter 10 book 4 (Lunar Marked))...but nooooo

And unfortunately I have this thing about completing a series, unless it's so bad, but I'm not holding out hope for books 5-7.

Full disclosure this series was "free" with an Audible membership.

Spoilers.

I have to admit there are certain aspects about these books I like. The plot has such great spots. I love the twists but this will be my last book in this series. I hate so much Ethan. I hate he’s cruel to the point of abusive and still gets the girl with no apology. The family virgin victim that’s happy to be abused is I am just over this series it ruins these books for me. I was really hoping for her to end up with Sebastian. The alpha seems to always try to do the right thing in a way alphabet does that’s not abusive for no reason

Finally! Sky Gets Some😉😍👏🐾

So much is happening and no one gets any time to just *breathe*! Love how Ethan and Sky finally made love but all this craziness with the witches, elves, and vampires!?! 😱 Never know when everything can settle down for Sky to finally explore her pack relationships and to finally see where her and Ethan will end up as either a full commitment or if he'll break her heart. On to the next! #HappyReading ❤

I keep thinking I will love this series because I do enjoy McKenzie's worlds. I do not enjoy this series, I am unsure why I keep reading it. The Raven Curse series by McKenzie is a MILLION times better than this series. I think I would enjoy this series more if I didn't absolutely hate the tropes used and the main character. I thought I could power through to the end of the series, but I just can't.

Slow burn love

Book 4.lots happen in this book plus it ends on a cliff hanger. I do think the vampire thing has gone on to much and it just makes sky look stupid.I get she knows she is not in love with him, he is her friend and its clear she can relate to him two souls who tried to end their life because they thought they was monster's.but she could just call and chat? But still not get involved.

Things are slowly being checked off my list that I made in my review for the first book. My only problem seems to be is that the magic and otherworld still confuse me. I don't know if that is because we follow Skylar so what she knows is only what we know. I feel like I have to read Ethan's POV now more than ever. I have a feeling that there are a lot of things that we do not know and Ethan won't be so mysterious.

This series has a special place in my heart! The plot is phenomenal, superb writing. Miss McKenzie Hunter, you kept me on the edge and trying to predict what would happen next, but surprised me around every corner. I cannot express how much I loved it. It was so different from anything else I've read in this genre This will forever be in my top 5 series I fall back on to reread because it's just that good. Both Sky's & Ethan's!

Couldn't put them down

I couldn't put these books down. From the first chapter of the first book I was captivated, reading as fast as I could to see what would happen next. I only wish there were more books to come with Sky and Ethan. If you like supernatural books this series is a must read.
