Dangerous God: Wrath, Vengeance, Recompense, and Terror

Rate this book
. . Sure, you have some concept of a supreme being—but, is your god-notion, God? The one true God? The biblical God? The God who is? To anyone who has ears to hear, I simply say that it’s time to open the Book and truly behold the dreadful holiness and terrifying awe of I AM. Certainly, it is long past time in this era of low-resolution preaching, denominational banality, and pervasive biblical illiteracy. For indeed, the Bible is unmistakably clear. . . “It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” (Hebrews 10:31) At the age of 42, Jim left a twenty-year business career to answer God’s call to preach. Since early 2004, he and his wife, Karen, have lived in Milan, Italy, where Jim is the pastor of the International Church of Milan, a non-denominational, Bible-believing, and Bible-teaching church ministering to internationals from every corner of the globe. He is also author of Everything Says, Glory!”: Science Exposes Darwinian Folklore and Uncareful Walking Where Feet May Fail. “A book of good news—terrifyingly good news.”—Donald Whitney “Euphemistic thinking about God is not truthful thinking about God.”—Pastor Jim Elliff “. . . a call to a serious reconsideration of our weak, contemporary ideas of God. . .”—Professor Jim Ehrhard “. . . Dangerous God . . . deflated my pride, exposed my mancenteredness, and rekindled my fear of the Lord to the praise of His glory and the joy of my soul.”—Pastor Brad Vaden “Dangerous God is not like any other book you will likely find in the twenty-first century. Albright dares to declare the true nature of the God who inhabits the universe.”—Pastor Keith Jones “. . . a no-holds-barred exposé of the God no one wants to talk about. . . . You owe it to yourself, your loved ones, and your neighbors to read it.”—Pastor Alan Johnston

This book had good points. In today's world, the truth of the God of the Bible is watered down. Yes, He is a God of love, but He is also a God of wrath. Every knee will someday bow before Him. Everyone will be judged. This book describes the God of wrath seen in the Bible and ends with the good news of Jesus Christ. However, I did not like the style of writing the author used. It was very "in your face", and there were a few ideas that he presented that I questioned.

This is a much needed resource of a very neglected, but vitally important topic, the wrath of God. Jim delivers hard hitting truths in a candid way, with no apologies. Would that all believers speak of this attribute of God with such boldness and candor.
