Every time I finish a book in this series I ask myself why I'm reading them as they're releasing! I could save myself so much anticipation, worry, and anxiety if I could just wait it out. But alas can't stop, won't stop and there's no going back at this point.

Going into this story I thought it was going to be one of my least favorite adventures but I was SO wrong. Everything started out innocuous enough for the team but it spiraled so fast onto a road I didn't even know existed and then preceded to rip my heart out and laugh at me.

Christian's one-liners were on point throughout the story. I still wish we could have seen even more of him in this novel. Don't get me wrong, he was a big part of this book but I want him in every scene with no exceptions. There's nothing wrong with that, right? Tell me I'm wrong.

Raven was a kick*ss as ever and so brave. I love how she willingly puts herself in sketchy situations for the chance to help others. She's evolved so much throughout these 9 books and I can't wait to see what her next adventure is.

It probably isn't realistic at this point to hope that everyone in the Keystone group gets a happy ending but I still hope. I'm currently very invested in Claude and Snitch. Fingers crossed no one dies by the end of this series because I will revolt!

The last hour and a half of this book gave me heart palpations. There was almost a HUGE and very mean cliffhanger to this book. I finished this book in the wee hours of the night because there was no sleeping when the fate of these characters was concerned. The very ending made this book amazing and heartbreaking at the same time!

The Audio Book:

The narration was amazing! I loved everything about it! All the character's voices were distinguishable from one another. There were no strange noises in the background of the narration.

A very eventual continuation of the series! The ending came very close to being an incredible cliffhanger, luckily Dannika Dark took mercy on us readers and extended the ending.

Not my favorite Crossbreed book but it was better than some of the recent. The awful cringey sex scene were poorly written and cliche. Raven & Christian have been together as a couple and we're still reading "do they or don't they". Weak plot that was all over the place. I didn't like the way alcoholism is dangling as a plot point.

Too good to savor...

I wish I could’ve taken my time reading this book, but as usual, I gobbled it up in one sitting. Heartless really builds on Raven’s character and the people who hold sway in her life. This book in the series illustrates some hard truths about all of the characters we know and love. Everyone has weaknesses, and how they learn and grow from them is the highlight of the book.

Houdini is a major player BTW - which of course brought me great joy! I mean, I love Raven... I love Christian... but, I adore Houdini. To me, he is the most complex character in this series, and I am completely invested in his arc.

I absolutely couldn’t put Heartless down, unfortunately, and now I’m paying the price for barreling through it so quickly. My book hangover is going to be ridiculous... Oh well, looks like a re-read will be happening in my very near future!

Noooo....!
Normally Dannika Dark writes like everything just flows along on a summers breeze.
-but this was more staccato, and it included a few eyerolls.
It felt a bit forced.
Sorry 😖

I love this series!!

Another great addition to the Crossbreed series! What I love about this series is everything - the wit, the laughable moments, you cry, you are on the edge of your seat during the action scenes, the romance that turns you to mush and the hate you feel for certain characters where you want to either stab them or slap them! It's all here! Thanks again Dannika Dark for another great book

Heartless brings us 9 novels deep into Dannika Dark’s Crossbreed series and I’m still in love with the characters and their world.

This time around the Keystone group is working a case where Mage females have gone missing. The clues point to them being taken and used in cage matches. Raven is front and center while she goes undercover as a bartender at the breed fantasy club (think sex club without the actual sex.)

Raven makes contact with the person inside the club who has a connection to the fighting world. She works the fights to get in deeper to find out who is the head honcho.

Keystone brings down another bad guy and Raven works through some of her feelings about the abuse she lived through with her Mage maker. We also get to see her vampire creator, Houdini again. He is very mysterious and I believe we have not seen the last of him. He’s one of those bad guys you hope to see more of.

I also enjoyed getting Claude’s backstory into Keystone.

Heartless is a solid installment in the Crossbreed series and I look forward to more from Dannika Dark.

I cannot rave enough about Nicole Poole’s narration performance for the Crossbreed series. Poole is the reason Dark is an audio-only author for me. She masterly voices all the characters from the female to the male. Her voice for Christian Poe is perfection.

I feel conflicted, cause I loved the plot of the mission and seeing Raven struggle with it and overall seeing Raven cause I love her and she is a queen.

But, Christian. Oh Christian...

There were two occasions when he got caught doing something and asked other people not to tell Raven - and I was so happy when Wyatt ignored that and still told Raven cause he’s the king we need and deserve!

Then after all the shit, Christian pulls on Raven he decides that she doesn’t need to know who put her in the coffin.
I have a lot of issues with that.

1. He’s not telling her cause he hopes that will mean she will assume it was Houdini, but Raven is not stupid. She’ll figure it out eventually, she was already thinking that her gut says it wasn’t him. And about the Houdini thing, again Raven will eventually see him for who he really is and I think she’s already started on that path here. I think Christian is being a hypocrite, since it took him a while to see Lenore for what she really is, but Raven isn’t allowed time?

2. He’s also not telling her cause he’s afraid what she’ll do. Again, Raven is not stupid. She knows what it would mean for her if she would kill Lenore. If Christian can restrain himself can’t Raven?

3. TELL VICTOR! My god, I can’t understand why we can’t tell Victor that Lenore has put both Christian and Raven in a coffin. Maybe the first one Victor could argue against but the second? No way, Victor would have Raven’s side, cause Lenore trying to get rid of Raven shows she’s not on the high horse as much as she tries to preach. Oh, she kept telling everyone how they’re so young to hold onto their grudges that things have changed. But then she still goes against Raven because of the hold she has on Christian? Another hypocrite right here.

Those are some that came to mind first.

I just hope Raven can forgive Christian when everything comes to light, or more I hope Christian can pull his head out of his ass. Cause, this couple is one of the biggest reasons I read this series and I’m just tired of seeing Lenore. I get what she brings to the story but I’m just so exhausted every time I read her monologues, like stfu already please.

Some general spoilers. Nothing too specific.

Ugh. I’m almost halfway through this audiobook, and I don’t know if I can even continue, I’m disliking it so much!! Please tell me it gets better at some point!!!

I’ve read most of Dannika’s books and I’ve read all of the books in the Magiverse, and I’ve really enjoyed all of them until the last few in the Crossbreed series...and this book is the worst so far! I hate the Houdini and Lenore storylines. Like, HATE hate. It’s like they can do whatever they want, whenever they want, and they just keep getting away with it. And has Victor suddenly turned into a moron? Has he suddenly lost his ability to read people; ie Lenore. And are Raven and Christian partners or not? Why do they keep getting separated on assignments in this book and the last?

And what’s with the hardcore sex scenes in this one? It’s practically non-stop in the first half of the book. I don’t mind a little sex in my sci fi/fantasy novels, but so far this one is just WAY too much. And too much BDSM! Like WTF is up with that? Write another series if you want to start writing erotica books.

So here I am halfway through the book, once again watching Houdini fk with Raven and watching Lenore fk with Christian, and of course there’s nothing either one of them can really do about it. My eyes are in danger of falling out from constantly rolling around my head!

Can somebody, anybody, please tell me this gets better and the ending will be worth it!

I have read and loved all of the crossbreed books up until this one. Urban fantasy is advertised as not having a lot of explicit sex. Romance I like but I can do without someone else's drips, sucks & groans. Thank you. The more sex there is, the less plot, character and personality development there tends to be. I found that to be so with this one. I got just so far and couldn't take it anymore realizing there would probably be more of Raven & Christian--doing their thing. In the future I will take a sample first on my kindle before burdening myself forever with the complete book. If a writer wishes to write porn, they should write erotica. There is a field for it. Thank you.

I've devoured every book in the Crossbreed series and this one was no different. I've enjoyed the last two books but it was great to see Raven and the Keystone crew get back to their roots and out solving a gritty crime in the Breed world. Viktor puts Raven into the eye of the storm when she's placed undercover to investigate an underground fighting ring after a few bodies of Breed have turned up dumped. And you know the first rule about any fight club...I'll show myself out. She's separated from her delicious partner in and out of work, Christian, and working in a fantasy sex club for Breed. The deeper Raven digs in, the more convoluted and dangerous the illegal fighting ring seems to go - literally to the death. The plot was fresh, intriguing and had all the bits and pieces I love about this series. More on that below.

Book Nine picks up about a year after Raven has joined Keystone, which honestly just seemed unreal to me, probably because I've reread these books so much it feels like it's been longer than that in the Crossbreed world. The books starts with two of my favourite characters: Christian and Crush. I adore the love to hate dynamic between these two and the latter as a secondary character adds so much to this series and Raven's character. While more ingrained in the Breed world, Raven is still trying to juggle immortality with who she is and I love the realism that the secondary characters surrounding her add to this. There's the usual and much appreciated sarcasm throughout the book and on the heavy side from Raven and Christian and the Keystone crew show up throughout to add their unique flair to the story line. I liked that Raven and Christian were the main point of views for this book because even though I love the other characters, these two are the reason I read the books. There wasn't a lot of Niko and Gem which was fine due to Book Eight giving them their chance to shine. And, as always, Hunter remains a firm favourite of mine. I generally don't like kids in books, but his interactions with Shepherd are always such a highlight and it's a welcome addition.

Christian and Raven's relationship continues to build and he's possessively dedicated to her - it's hot as and I'm Silence of the Lambs, crawl into their skin kind of obsessed with the pair of them. There are a few great, intense scenes between the two and I was so happy the the presence of Lenore the...not so nice lady didn't go the predictable route and throw up too much over the top relationship shade between them. My favourite part, however? Houdini pops back up in a fairly decent chunk of the book. Houdini - I"m just saying his name again because it gives me all kinds of shivers and is right up there with whispering 'Mufasa'. I flipping love this character and what he adds to the books. I saw a review state they were over this angle being included in the series - mate, jump off this train, then, because Houdini needs to stay and I seriously question your sanity and drug habits if you think this story line should be done with. He is diabolical and all kinds of wonderful and I think the books would be the lesser for him not being included, my personal obsession aside.

Poe manages to pull out some great lines on love directed Raven's way, which was all kinds of gooey deliciousness. There's also a bit more of a reveal on Claude's background. Lenore continues to make a variety of trouble, enough to make the reader want to scratch her eyes out as she tries to divide Christian and Raven. For Mageri fans, there are a couple of subtle and brief innuendos to significant characters from that series, and yes, I did squeal a little in a very undignified way. Sorry, not sorry. Without spoiling anything, the book takes a right curve towards the end of the book that comes out of nowhere, leaving an almost cliffhanger that's sure to be continued in future books.

Overall, this is another great book in one of my favourite series. Loved it - this was solid Keystone. Five stars.

Another amazing addition to the Crossbreed series.

Raven ends up on a dangerous assignment that brings up the harsh memories of her past. Little does she know, it's not her past she needs to worry about. This had all the things I love about the series. Raven and Christian's banter is always my favourite. Wyette's t-shirts are hilarious. Fast read that sucks you in. Highly recommend.

This is so very good! This is urban fantasy with a wonderful romance and the continuation of a series. It features Raven, a half-breed vampire/mage and Christian, the vampire who loves her. It's also is about a group of paranormal crime fighters/mystery solvers that all live and work together as a team. They each are different supernaturals including shifters, grave walkers, vampires, sensors and Mages. I tried to read it slow, but the whole second half of the book had me on the edge of my chair and I ended up reading it fast. Suspense, action and romance filled with wonderful characters. Highly recommended to adult paranormal or UF readers.

I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. This is one of my favorite series to listen to. Dannika Dark and Nicole Poole are such a great combination that even though the audio for Heartless was released a whole month later than the ebook, I waited.

Raven is assigned to an undercover role as a bartender. She's bait as they try to catch whoever is behind this fighting ring that is leaving people dead. Raven is so deep undercover that Christian can't even be with her. Which makes for some interesting situations when we find out just who the boss of the bar is and then what Christian's crazy ex is up to.

Raven is tough, but she is forced to deal with some inner demons. So we end up with little bits of everything mixed into this story of whodunit.

I love Raven and Christian together and they totally prove their relationship is a strong, reliable one. They are one of my favorite fictional couples. Besides, Christian is just all round amazing!

I hate how this ended. Not that it was a cliffhanger, but I had so much anger that I wanted a good resolution and I don't feel like I got that. It is well written and leaves us chomping at the bit for the next installment and hopefully see the resolution I want.

Heartless was an emotional ride and I loved every minute of it, even if it left me crazed. All of the characters at Keystone are amazing and it is so great to see how they are all there for each other (even after some drinks)! This review was originally posted on Rantings of a Reading Addict

Love love love this series !

Oh my days!! What an amazing read. Dannika Dark you are truly talented.
Raven is going undercover to try and infiltrate an illegal fighting ring using mage women. Christian cant be partnered with Raven on this as Vampires are not allowed in side the club. This very assignment tests Raven to her very core.
Every page has you transfixed and engrossed to find out what comes next.
There is some really good banter in this book between the keystone group and the Mall scene is hilarious...you will have a few laugh out loud moments. There is a hair raising moment towards the end of the book that has you shocked because you dont see it coming !!
Love all the characters they all have their own quirkiness but they all work great together....but there is one character that I hope gets their comeuppance !!

Dont leave us hanging too long for the next one Dannika Dark.

The plot thickens....you’ll be in heaven!

To prime up for this new book, I reread all of other books to make this newest one last! Im ashamed to say that I devoured this book today! No food, lots of tea and a plate of fruit salad once I hit the last chapter(thank you for the heaven for adult children that make tea and try to bribe me to eat. Plus they know when they see takeout menus they need to make dinner. My children wish I had more of these books because I adore them so much and they love to hear me laughing or bring me puffs when I cry at parts!) I absolutely love this world and all of the characters! I can never get enough of Raven & Christian. I love the strong Alpha female in books, I put Raven up on a pedestal like Merit, Jane Yellowrock, Kate Daniels, Talia; just to name a few! These series are amazing and well worth reading them multiple times! Plus when I was on Dannika Darks’s website, I clicked on the swag button. Holy heavens there are awesome coffee cups etc with awesome sayings on them from the characters of all the series! Check out Shepard’s quote! I laughed so hard and then there is another series with others quotes which are very funny! They are awesome and I can’t wait till the next book in this series! I’m as addicted to this author as I am the many others that I’ve read so many times repeatedly! Enjoy the series but start with all of them first!

Read this book now! You're Welcome

This is the 9th book in the Crossbreed series and it did not disappoint. This series is my favorite of all time hands down. Dannika Dark is the most amazing author. Being the 9th book in the series one would think that the series might be losing steam or wrapping up. Well that couldn't be further from the truth. This series is still going strong. The storyline is always original, exciting, and funny! The characters are still developing and growing. This is a series where the H and h are not the only characters we as readers care about. Every character in this series is vital and interesting. I truly can't say enough good things about this series and Heartless. Heartless is simply an incredible addition to the Crossbreed series. Read it! Listen to it! Yes you must listen to the series. Nicole Poole does an exceptional job narrating the books. She brings Dannika's characters to life.

I LOVE this series so much!! Dannika Dark writes the BEST series!! You can’t help get pulled in right from the start, with characters that have so much depth. Each one has stories layers. They’re all breed. There are Shifters (wolves, cheetahs, leopards, lions, falcons, etc), Mages, Relics, Vampires and the rare half breed. Raven is one of those half breed. Half mage, half vampire. But her makers never taught her how to use her powers. Victor owns Keystone, an organization to help bring down the bad. He has a mansion where those in Keystone live, practice, work, and they become like a family. I love the relationship between Christian & Raven!!! I love all the members of Keystone and I love the adventures that their work takes them through. I have sucked down this series and look forward to what Dannika Dark has in store for Keystone next!!!!
