I protect my pack at all costs—and I never fail.

The vampires have broken our tentative truce and are threatening to destroy my pack. At the center of their scheme is Sky, an enigmatic lone wolf, who they believe is a weapon that can be used against us.

Nothing about the quiet, doe-eyed brunette screams “danger” or “ruthless weapon.” And that’s the problem. My wolf’s instinct says to protect her, especially after a necromancer tries to kill her, the vampires repeatedly attempt to abduct her, and we receive a dire warning about her.

But as more is discovered about the elusive lone wolf, I quickly realize she’s more dangerous than she looks.

Can I neutralize the situation and protect her life, or do what I do best—protect the pack at all costs?

Moon Crossed is Ethan’s POV of Moon Tortured (Sky Brooks Series: Book 1) with added scenes and storylines. It can be read alone, but reading Moon Tortured first will enhance your reading experience.

McKenzie Hunter is the author of urban fantasy, dark fantasy, and paranormal romance books. She discovered early that new adventures were just a page-turn away; all she had to do was read a book. She’s had her share of escapades from hanging out with vamps, joining the chaos of shifter packs, creating spells with witches, and avoiding deals with the fae.

When she isn't working on her next book, she’s reading, binge-watching TV, or disappearing into her own world during nature walks (probably on the lookout for magical beings—or maybe not).

Didn't expect I would appreciate Ethan's POV. That was different. Definitely emphasized the "there are two sides to a story". It was enlightening to see how much urge Ethan had to protect Skylar behind all the jerk attitude and harsh words. Looking back, he did kinda end up being a pushover to all Skylar's persistence. It's just that in Skylar's POV, Ethan being an ass was at the very forefront of all her ire.

Callous Pack

This is a reread for me but I'm still surprised how callous the Pack can be. They have a very Us vs Them mentality. Even though there is almost a complete overlap to Sky's POV there is enough new information for this story to be important enough to read. I think it would be beneficial to read both POV's at the same time.

Differing POV

I liked getting a different perspective of the events of Moon Tortured. Each not these characters has a skewed POV, but with both, you can see the truth somewhere in the middle. I also booked seeing what happened when Skype wasn't around, A almost a view behind the curtain. Ethan's view on things I'd very b detached, almost clinical, sometimes. It will be interesting to see where this goes from both their perspectives.

**I received a gifted copy of the book an am voluntarily choosing to leave an honest and unbiased review**

Having already loved the original series from Sky's POV I was extremely excited when I found out that there was going to be a series from Ethan's POV. There is so much about Ethan that we don't know - his motives behind his actions and the hurtful yet honest things he says - mostly to Sky. . . I had high expectations for this book and for the author who would be filling some pretty big shoes, but I wasn't worried at all with this one and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it. I was at no point disappointed with what Emerson had written and he expertly provided us a gentler and different side to Ethan while still keeping to his usual a**hatness that is typical of the beta wolf.

I loved seeing his interactions with his brother Josh from his point of view and yeah you know he loves his brother and would go to hell and back for him and that was evident in Sky's POV, but you get a deeper understanding of his love and the things he's willing to do. His relationship with Sebastian and the amount of things he doesn't necessarily agree with surprised me, especially the second time Sky pulled the Houdini act. But most importantly, I loved seeing his relationship with Sky from his perspective, what he thought about her, and how it grew to the infamous kiss and his feelings for her along with his reasoning behind not wanting her part of the pack. I actually love him more because of this book.

I am highly anticipating the next one - even though book 2 is the one I like the least because of what happens between him and Chris, I didn't like when they came back into each others lives again. . . I am really wanting to know how it's going to be written and the logic behind him getting down and dirty with his ex-girlfriend again with the way he feels about Sky.

The book was extremely well written and I can't imagine what it must be like to write a book not being as connected to the characters and the story as much as the original author. His own writing style(?) worked well with McKenzie's and I noticed that some of the same language was used, which was nice to read. I felt that while you did get a sense that you were reading from a completely different character, it didn't make you feel that you were reading a completely different book of a completely different series altogether. I still felt connected to the original which was great for me....if any of that makes sense. All in all, Emerson did a fantastic job and I can't wait to read the rest of the series from Ethan's POV

I finished the whole Sky Brooks series and I’m sad to say I was left with a cliff hanger and just lots of questions on her end ! I was intrigued to find that there were Ethan POV’s books & I find Ethan’s side more interesting and enlightening , but maybe that’s because I already know Sky’s side … I’m hoping while listening to audio Ethan POV that I can get my questions answered from Sky’s last book. I was also proud of my assumptions of Ethan’s “true feelings “ toward Sky were accurate !

“Moon Crossed” is book one in McKenzie Hunter’s Sky Brooks World: Ethan series. This series is in Ethan’s POV.

Being the Beta for the Midwest Pack it’s Ethan’a job to make sure each and every member of the pack are safe. But when a she-wolf becomes a temporary member of the pack and it’s there responsibility to keep her safe from the Seethe, Ethan’s job and roll becomes a lot harder. Especially when magic is involved.

After reading “Moon Tortured” I couldn’t wait to read this book and see what was going on in Ethans head. With each and every interaction he had with Skylar you could see a new side to him and I just needed to see what he was thinking. I was not disappointed, the struggles and trouble he has with being the Beta and the feelings towards Skylar was fantastic to read.

I can’t wait to continue this series and see how much Ethan is going to grow and change. Looking forward to what is next.

Meh

I liked it, it was a good read and nice to get some extra details that weren’t provided in the moon cursed book. However, I don’t particularly see myself bouncing back and forth through this world to continuously re-read the same events in two different books from two different points of view. On that same note I can’t honestly say if I’d enjoy the sky brooks world with multiple points of view bouncing back and forth in the same book either. I like the strength of Ethan’s view, while Skylar seems to still be pretty weak and selfish to me. I just feel like the Skylar books have more conflict and make for a more interesting read even if I find her slightly annoying. That could be because I read her view first, so I skim read a lot of this book since it had word for word conversations and events repeated.

The book was okay but most of the characters were unpredictable and their actions didn't always make sense because of who they were. You also don't really get to KNOW the characters. The only things I got from the characters were the following:

ETHAN- Typical violent and (DUH) good looking guy with some major anger issues. Ok, he's a werewolf, they're predators, it's in their natures blah blah blah, but still. I also didn't understand how he was Beta. Ok, sure, he's strong, but aren't all the were- animals in some way? What makes him different from the rest? Nothing. I found him quite boring and was sick of the whole 'The Pack comes first' thing. I get that Skylar's dangerous, but it isn't fair to kill someone just because they're different! And shouldn't Ethan relate because of his magical abilities? His whole character just didn't make sense.

SKYLAR- She was SUCH a disappointment. She was a damsel in distress type character, and was even more boring than Ethan. Ok, the whole half vampire or whatever she was thing was pretty cool and so was the magic thing, but apart from that, well, she was just WEAK. She barely did anything in the book, despite being one of the main characters. Also, everyone was always making plans on what to do with her, as if she was an object or something, and not a person. They had to 'make a choice' on whether or not they should kill her. That shouldn't be up to them! This is her LIFE they're talking about! Skylar doesn't even really do anything about it. She just lets them walk all over her and control her. Ok, she does run away (twice) but ends up still in their control so it was pointless and afterwards she didn't fight them at all. And at the end, she THANKED them for protecting her! Seriously!? They only did it because they didn't want Demetrius to have her, and ok, they LET her live, but they did think about killing her and at the end Ethan sorta did. Fine, she came back to life, but there was a chance she wouldn't!

WINTER- Weirdly, I sort of liked this ruthless and cold hearted killer. I know, weird. Even though she was kinda evil, she was WAY more interesting than Skylar. I liked that she was one of the most powerful people in the pack and that she was a woman, but what I noticed was that her fighting was always described as 'elegant' while all the males were rougher. There's nothing wrong with this exactly, but it was sorta annoying. It's like the author (s) were making it seem like girls can't fight rough. I mean, what's up with that?

JOSH- Sometimes-nice-sometimes-not and slightly power hungry younger brother. I didn't GET him.
One second he's being really nice to Skylar and flirting with her, and the next he's pressuring her into doing magic. Honestly, author (s), make your mind (s) up! Is Josh good or bad? He can't be both!

SEBASTIAN- YAWN. That's all I have to say.

STEVEN- Nice, but also boring.

There were some things I liked about the book, like.....um......ok, I can't think of something right now but trust me, there was something, or I wouldn't have bothered finishing the book and rating it 3 stars.

Honestly, I don't care if you read the book or not. I don't even know why I bothered writing a review, but you know people, sometimes you do unexpected things. Like wasting 20 minutes writing a review for a book you didn't even really enjoy. What can I say, I'm weird.

Ok, guys, PEACE OUT!

PS My language was so weird in this. I'm British! I'm reading too many American books.... (No offense America)

Five amazeballs stars!

First I really enjoy the Sky Brooks series and I couldn't wait to read this book. I hoped I would like it but I didn't expect to love it. I don't always enjoy books rewritten in another characters perspective. But this worked. If anything, I liked it more. This is nothing against McKenzie Hunter and her writing. The first book is great the way it is. It's the way its supposed to be. Sky still makes dumb choice after dumb choice, that doesn't change, but we dont have to listen to her rationalize it all.
Here we hear everything from Ethan's side. I haven't liked him much throughout the series. He's the strong handsome hero. But he's also an arrogant ass too. This book I think humanizes him more. I understand him better and actually kinda like him.
To someone who hasn't read the series, I dont think this is where to start. I would start read the series first then this one. While nothing "new" happened here, I'm not sure it would be entirely clear to someone unversed in the world.
This is labeled as book 1. I look forward to more books in the future.

This is the second book in this series that I have read and I have to admit to being underwhelmed. It is a companion book to the main POV first book. My problem with it is that while the plot of the book is good, there was very little new material in this book so it made for a largely skip page, skip page, skip page, read page kind of read. I have read other companion books that have been done brilliantly and this pales in comparison.

I didn't feel that it gave me any particular insight into the character that couldn't have been inferred from reading the first book. And as with the first book, I found this book strangely detached or unemotional. For me, there is a lack of connection between the reader and the story despite the story being good.

I wouldn't write this series off as there is definitely things to like about it but due to its relative 'flatness' for me, I'd only read another if I had run out of things on KU that I particularly wanted to read.

format: Audiobook
rating: DNF

You know I'm sure this series is fine for a bunch of people, I used it to try to go to sleep which it did work to do so I got quite a bit of content from the start and also some stuff later in the book.

If I where to rate it it'd obviously be a 1, but I'm not gonna finish so I won't.

Why? Even with some of the ones I've disliked but finished it usually been able to find something interesting with them, or at least something that is interestingly bad.

Ethan is just an arse in the most predictable, tropey stock character way imaginable.
Ugh, and I can't even with that childish thing he has about his brother who can't EVER be allowed to beat him in any way.

Ugh, Fuck Off. Guys like him are toxic, but at least sometimes they are toxic in a fascinating way that makes it worth reading.
This?
It seems like just one cliché layered on top of another. And it's not well written enough for that to be good and relaxing either.

I wish I could return the series

I fell for the marketing ploy “Wouldn’t you like to know what Ethan was thinking?” after reading three of Skylar’s books which I have been enjoying a lot. Little did I know this would provide nothing new to the narrative, no world expansion, no real look into how the best organization of werewolves stayed the best. I stupidly bought the 7-book package. There was a unique opportunity to expand this world from the perspective of someone who inhabited it since birth, but all we got was a cold rehash of what I had already seen thru Skylar’s eyes. For someone who was not with her all the time, Ethan did remarkably little, other than retreat to the gym to work out. Very disappointing. Don’t know if I’ll open up the rest of this series.

I loved Ethan's PoV

It's not often readers get a chance to read a book from another characters point of view, especially when that character is one of the main characters. I liked the way this book was done. It followed Skylar's books exactly, but from Ethan's point of view so I always knew what was going on and now we got the chance to read his thoughts. Thank you for allowing us the chance to read the same story, but from another perspective. It also made Ethan more likeable.

This book held no real additional value from the original story line -- in fact, about 90% of it was large chunks taken from the original book and just adjusted to Ethan's perspective (which typically involved him overhearing conversations between other characters and not really participating or contributing anything). I think the author could have easily incorporated the small amount of new information presented into the original book, which would have added some depth to Ethan's character from the start.

Really enjoying Ethan’s POV I really hope that they go throughout the whole series. I struggled with Ethan in the Sky Brooks because I’m a hopeless romantic and he seemed so hot and cold. Whelp he is but I really love seeing his take and struggles and why he chose what he did . Boy oh boy did he have some issues in This books. One problem after another had them jumping through hoops and fixing issues left and right. The pacing was great and I really felt like I connected with Ethan on a different level than he was seen in the other series. Great book , hope there is more to come.

Ethan is the beta of the midwest pack, his loyalties lie with the pack and the packs safey. When the pack finds out that the vampires have a plan to boost their powers to take over the pack and the supernatural world and that those plabs include a lone wolf, they take in Skylar and offer her the packs protection. Skylar pushes Ethans and the packs patients and often puts herself in harms way, which infuriates Ethan to no end. With the help of his brother Josh the pack work to foil the vampires plans while trying to keep Skylar safe.

I loved it

Reading this story from Ethan's point of view gives you a different insight to the characters. When I read the Sky Brooks series I didn't like Ethan very much. This book certainly changed my mind. The most astonishing thing to me was how engaged in was in this book because I already knew the outcome and events because of Moon Tortured. Great job Emerson Knight. I am looking forward to the next one.

Two separately wonderful same stories

I wasn't sure how I would like reading this from Ethan 's point of view, especially right after reading Skylar's, but I really enjoyed it! It's like getting a behind the scenes look at it. Even though parts of the story are the same I never got that "I've read this before" feeling. So, great job authors for two separately wonderful same stories.

I did not like this. This was book one retold - no additional scenes or more of missed conversations and some of the retelling didn’t match the original story. Very frustrating for someone who remembers does details.

Ethan is a jerk.
Josh is out for power.
Steven’s a cute friend.
Winter is a psycho killer.
Sebastian is a mean alpha.
Sky is just a moron.

I will not be continuing this series on either end.

Ethan mind

I read the other version in skylars head.this is taken the journey again but in thanks head. You do find out what was being said behind the doors because sky was a outsider. the ending does have a end but not HEA. As repeated books go (but from the other main lead) this one does add extra.but I'm not a fan of different books for the same story would of been nice to have them both in the same book.

Different point of view

Having Ethans point of view explained some things that left you wondering in moon tortured. It shows how different one can be outloud and in their mind.
Maybe it's just me but I love different points of view, they can completely change your mind about a certain event.

Picked this because it gave a different POV to Moon Tortured. After reading that, I nearly didn't read this, but glad I did. The writing is actually noticeably better, as in better edited, and I liked seeing the story from the other side. Ethan and Skylar need to get it together a bit more quickly, though.

Story was a good follow up to the Sky Brooks books from Ethan’s perspective. Filled in some blanks that explained a lot. I wish the narrator had listened to the previous books, certain key words and accents were very different. After hearing things pronounced the same in the previous stories it was annoying.

Ethan

Ethan, beta wolf and his brother Josh who is a mage ,save a lone wolf from vampires. Why the vampires are interested in Skylar is a mystery. Demetrius, the leader of the vampires believes her blood can save them from having to stay out of the sun. He has a magical artifact that will help him accomplish this.

Too repetitive

Ethan’s view could easily have been incorporated into skylar’s book. Rereading full scenes and dialogue was just…. Too much. At no point did I feel I was being given enough new information to be worth the time spent rereading 90% of what was in Skylar’s book.

Sorry. I feel like this is an absolute money grab.

Pretty good. I first read the entire "Sky Brooks" series; well, all of the books I could find but the last book in that series leads me to believe that there is much more to that story. It ended unfinished which just left me frustrated and very irritated; not that I loved Sky but she did have some funny moments and then I saw this series.
I think Ethen is a jerk for the most part but since the first several books in this series are free on Audible, I am reading.

Ugh, he's such a jerk!

This pairs with the first book in the Sky Brooks series. It was fascinating seeing things, including Skylar from Ethan's perspective. But he is still in fact, exactly as described by Skylar!

And yet, I'm immediately jumping back into the tandem read to see what's next.

Good book but Ethan is still a jerk

I read this book out of curiosity. I'd already read the rest of the Skylar books and had been told I HAD to read this. The writing is very good,I enjoyed that part immensely but this story on!y strengthened my beliefs about Ethan.
