Out-Damn-Standing
After reading the preview. I thought these two books had the potential of being a fun read. After the first chapter of the first book I was all in. From the contemporary setting in the beginning. To the mind blowing changes of our hero finding himself in an alien craft. This book created adventures we only dream about.
I'm anxiously awaiting the third or even the thirtieth volume. Very, very well done.

Hire an editor
Please, PLEASE hire an editor before continuing the series. There is a solid core here and a lot of good ideas, but the spelling, grammar, and spell check errors make it difficult to read in places. And a good editor can help with the pacing issues that plague both books. And maybe they can help with the continuity issues as well.

Karma
What's a Redleg? With that out of the way, I can say this is an enjoyable tale. It does remind me of certain video games where the warrior gains strengths (Rua) from the life force of those he kills. That part of this story as well as the video game I personally found less than thrilling. Still, it's only a game and this is just a story, but why not gain karma from the good things you do? The whole idea of finding ancient tech is brilliant, characters are endearing, and adventure abounds.

I was able to complete books 1 & 2, but just barely. The author relies on stupidity to tell his tale. Most obvious is the lengths the author goes to to lose navigational data so the MC can't be immediately returned to earth. This is ridiculous in the extreme as it results in highly advanced aliens being less competent, with worse computers, than earth. By the time humans are interstellar travelers we will have galactic maps in our AV glasses or some such. Alternatively the author could have just had the MC choose to take advantage of the once in a life time opportunity.
The MC ends up joining the crew of the spaceship. Shortly thereafter a glitch in the highly advanced spaceship results in the AI using an extremely convoluted plan to kill the MC by stranding him on a backwards planet. Fortunately the captain of the ship turns the computer off and on again, fixing the problem and allowing for the rescue of the MC from amazingly stupid locals, locals who were only chasing the MC because the other crew member with him had done something incredibly stupid.
Are you getting the feeling yet that the author only uses stupidity to move his story forward? If so, go with it. It is basically accurate.
After the AI fiasco the ship returns to “the Unity” which is essentially an interstellar empire run by its wealthy elite with democratic window dressings. The Unity leader, the Chancellor has the MC imprisoned and tortured. Why? Essentially because Chancellor is crazy, after all, Chancellor concludes MC is essentially a spy contrary to all available evidence. Even if MC was a spay a remotely intelligent person would have MC watched, not break the law to get a cheap thrill kicking the MC personally. Is the MC rescued by stalwart companions or his own ingenuity? No. He is rescued because Chancellor is stupid to post guards or lock doors so Chancellor’s daughter walks in on the torture when she came to call Chancellor to diner.
Chancellor then attempts to kill MC in the stupidest possible way. Chancellor gives MC a decrepit Groz ship. A couple of centuries ago the Groz fought the Unity and lost to the Unity’s numbers in spite of the Groz’s advanced tech. The Groz are now believed extinct. In an insane turn of events, the Groz ship is so advanced it was able to hide this fact from Unity scientist for decades. The Groz ship, however, immediately reveals itself to the MC (end book 1).
In book 2 MC takes his magic Groz ship (and it really is a magic ship for all intents), and heads in the general direction of earth because the author ignores the fact that the necessary information to find earth should be readily available on the Unity home world. MC names his ship Ananna. MC and Ananna plan to scavenge more Groz technology on the way to earth. However they become involved in fighting piracy in the first system with a Groz wreck. The pirates are preying on local miners but, as the large corporations running the mining are themselves pirates, difficulties ensue including some really dumb stuff and a twist which can be seen from a mile off but I still won’t reveal it here.
MC & co. resolve the piracy/corporate greed problem and continue on their way to earth via Groz salvage sites. I realize I failed to give examples of stupidity in book 2 but, trust me, they are there.
Bottom line: Only worth the read if you have a high tolerance for stupidity.

I like where this book is going
Reading the first book on this new series, I really felt for Zade as a main character as he was ripped from his home planet as thrust into the role of Head of security on an explorative ship run by a collective of aliens who aren't really what they seem. Right at the beginning of this second book in the series we see just how badly that collective called Unity try to screw him over.
So it made sense that Zade would need his own ship, crew and a badass loving AI. With only buckets full of power (and rua energy) but needing galaxy's full to even begin think about saving his own species back home on planet Earth,it makes sense that the author went the direction he went. Zade is given the guys of what he needs now its up to him to build with what he's got.
I've read other sci-fi books that use this theme (collective death energy) and they are good, but so is Resurgence. Also, not as violent.
Five stars and looking forward to the rest of the series. Hoping we see more diversity of action and more locating and different people groups packed into each book. One scene per book just isn't enough so don't be stingy please Mr Author!

I'm in love!
Couldn't put it down! Absolutely an exciting and thrilling read! This author knows how to write and catch the reader's interest throughout the entire story. Although, Zade was determined to find his way back to Earth, he and his crew went out of their way to help those in need. The old junkie ship that he acquired from Samix's father turned out to be a blessing in disguise along with his first stowaway, Samix herself. The ship's AI personality completely floored Zade to how closely human it was. And, to be able to learn and use the vast knowledge of the ancients' technology gave him hope in searching for his home world. You will definitely not be disappointed in reading this story! I can't wait for the next book!

Again not original but fun
I did enjoy this book and eagerly awaiting more but there were some issue's. The MC is becoming OP with his gifts a bit to quick. Though the book provides that he is not invincible the forge etc. Freebies are making it easy. The whole dead energy forge thing is not original but I hope the way it is utilized is. Though I enjoy the series I don't want cookie cutter or cloned stories. The author is good about adding some history to his characters to increase there believability and do hope this trend continues. Interested to see where the romance goes if there is any as there seems to be plenty of interest. I don't mind harem or mono but hate beating around the bush teasing forever. Looking forward to more book.

Second part of a series I'm really enjoying reading. Plot takes a big swing in direction from the first book with the main characters finding the technology remnants of a forgotten ancient warrior civilisation and using it to their advantage in dealing with corrupt big business taking advantage of asteroid miners. The new tech is interesting being powered by life energy harvested from killed enemies and how it can potentially distort our heroes perspectives. Read in pretty much one session look forward to the next part.

As with the first book in this series, I enjoyed the read, the story was good, but the editing was awful. There were way too many typos, missing words, wrong words (i.e. homonyms), etc. The multitude of minor errors makes both books difficult to read at times. I don't expect to find that many mistakes when I have paid for the privilege of reading a book. I would give the book a higher rating if the errors were corrected.

A Fun Book... but confusing
I enjoyed Resurgence. It's a fun, non-cranial book with a lot of action. But I was confused about some things.
SPIOILER ALERT!!
What the heck happened to Zade's nanites, his upgraded bone density and muscle mass? It seemed like he got is butt kicked often when he should have been tossing men around like rag dolls!
Also, what happened to the human on the planetoid? No explanation. He was simply forgotten.

Another good story about earthling Zade and Samix and AI Ananna (AKA Ann) and their travels toward earth, while stopping along the way to help anyone they can. This time it was miners and pirates and big mining corporations. This time he takes on two Baast, cat-like aliens, brother and sister Mara and Max.
Moving on to the next book today!!!
A little romance and the F-bomb was used 31 times.
As for the narration: Awesome!!! Michael Braun is a great reader with great voices and emotions.

This second effort was not as good as his first. I found the inconsistent tech to be distracting. In the first book nannites practically made the protagonist a super hero who ends up almost immortal. In the second book he's back to normal and the idea of the nannites isn't mentioned again. I could go on but you get the point. I'm unsure if i'll read any more.

Some editing issues
There were several glaring issues with word usage and punctuation, such as bizzare instead of bazaar which took away from the enjoyment of the story. Then there were fight scenes that really didn't make sense, I was hoping would be cleared up but they weren't even referred to before the end of the book.

Great book
A great 2nd book in the series, unfortunately not a major work of over 1000 words, just enough to last a month or so. Action from the get go, new characters and a good plot, make this value for your reading dollar.

Excellent read!
Lots of action moves the story along. Makes great escapist reading.
I'm very happy that this book is as good as the first one.
Drama and excitement SAFE for teens on up. Just a little profanity.

Good storyline and worth waiting for the sequel.
Nice of the author to pickup where it left off in a condensed manner.

Marine policing the galaxy
I think it was a bit less captivating than the first book. Too much forge time. What happened to his babies fixing him. Other than that the crew is forming and relationships are working themselves out.

The only problem I had with this book is how long it took between book 1 and book 2. This story was even better than the first one,and I can only hope that the third one will continue with the trend.

Still very good story. Editing quality dropped. More than triple
Great story. The character development is spot on. Not sure of my favorite,leaning towards a tossup between Mara and Max. Hope your friend is getting the help he needs. Good luck from another Vet.

Excellent story
Excellent story a great swashbuckling tale. Make me think of the old Errol Flynn Pirate movies. With this tale I must commend for a smoother telling, as the last episode was not.

Nice book
The initial plot seems a little too much like Andromeda, but it's a fun read so I can't wait to read the next one. It would be great if the author would spend more time on the psychological aspects of the MC and the crew.

Now waiting for the next
Fun read from start to finish. Characters are likable. Story flows well. Few typos. Limb couldn't be replaced? Thought one was first book? Oh well now waiting on book three.

Great story telling
Characters from book one grew in character and some great new characters became a part of the tale. I especially like the moral approach the tale holds to; nice integrity and honor.

Another WOW
Another must read. This author has a way that makes you part of the story. Can't wait for book 3. Eventually Zade and Sam will finally get together. Can't wait. A 5 star rating. You won't be wasting your money on this author.

A good second book
I found this to be a good read, some sections seemed to drag on, but overall a good book, am looking forward to the next book in the series
