With one simple act, she could erase a thousand years of history. With the future in jeopardy, will she choose love… or revenge?
2533 CE. The only thing time-traveling thief Clémence Arseneau has left to steal is her freedom. But after one of her rogue heists threatens to expose her employer's illegal operations, she must prove she's not a liability with one final job. And though her lover is on the team to help, so is a spy with a hidden agenda.
Traveling to Tudor England to rob Henry VIII, Clémence begins to suspect there is more to this caper than she was told. And when the opportunity to right a terrible wrong arises, she loses sight of the score, focusing instead on vengeance. But fulfilling her vendetta would have devastating consequences… including losing the man who's captured her heart.
Will Clémence destroy her future in the name of revenge?
Thieves is the pulse-pounding first book in the Stolen Time series. If you like feisty heroines, thrilling action, and historical twists, then you'll love Lyn South's high-stakes tale.
The sci-fi action was great in this novel. I felt as if the story nailed the balance between too much information and too little. Like all time travel stories, it helps not to think too hard about the butterfly effect of changing anything.
It was fun to watch high-tech thieves from the future drop into the past. I enjoyed the thieving bits through the novel, too, and all the tech tools (tranq sprays and embedded ear-pieces) and old-school manual tools (lock picks).
The concept was cool, and the tension pretty high throughout most of the novel. It was a fast read. Clemence was an arrogant thief with an unhealthy disrespect for authority and people telling her what to do, which was both fun and terrifying to witness.
She and Nico are already together at the start of the novel, and I would have liked a deeper dive on that relationship and more importance built into it to further raise the stakes. I also wanted to know more about Trevor and what her deal was, but maybe that comes in the next book.
I have known you for about 10 years now. You have always been someone special, especially to our grandkids. This I. Must say, is the best surprise from you yet. I have sat on the book for months, I was waiting for a hurricane and no power to read it. I got tired and kindle downloaded it a few days ago. I had to stop reading a couple of times but found it hard to put down. Now I find myself longing for the next. You out done yourself and can't wait for the next book. I thank you so much.
I Found this book quite interesting and also boring at times I was unable Get to know the characters this I feel was more a love story great try by the author I did enjoy parts of old England and Henry the 8th good research but none of the character really stood out for me an all a nice way to kill time I won't be reading anymore of this author's work
