Lake Fisher #2

Feels Like Home

Rate this book
Dear Reader,

My name is Aaron Thompson and, while I might be an important part of this story, this story isn’t mine. It’s my best friend Bess’s story, and I was just lucky enough to be part of it. Bess met her husband Eli when we were still kids, they fell in love, they got married, and then their marriage fell apart. They hate one another now, and they can barely be in the same room together for more than five minutes without Bess wanting to scratch Eli’s eyes out. Before they can finalize the divorce, however, they have to clean out the old cabin at Lake Fisher, so they can sell it.

You see, this is where I come into the story, mainly because the safety and care of three precious little beings rests on whether or not they can find their way back together. I won’t ask them to pretend like they’re in love; it’s obvious how much disdain they have for one another. All I ask is that they give me one more summer.

I do have my own reasons for wanting to help them, which I will explain in more detail. But right now, just know that Bess and Eli’s story is an important one, and that I was honored to play a part in it.

Best regards,
Aaron

Tammy Falkner lives on a farm in a lovely, sprawling little town in rural NC with her beekeeper husband and a house full of boys, a few dogs, and a cat or two (or five – who has time to count?). As half of the Lydia Dare team, she has co-written ten books, including the Westfield Wolves series and the Gentlemen Vampyre series. A huge fan of Regency England, she often wonders what other kinds of magical, mythical and strange creatures might live and interact within the ton. Exploring the theory that the fae can walk between Regency England and their own land, Tammy spends as much time as possible with the lords and ladies of society, horse-drawn carriages, and elegant balls. Now add to that some faeries, a little murder, a bit of mayhem, and a troublesome garden gnome, and you have her exciting new series. She hopes you enjoys her world as much as she does.

Tammy Falkner crafts a wonderfully sweet, tender and heartfelt romance that made me laugh, cry and smile hugely.

Lake is a magnificent place where families go to enjoy their summer. Many summers ago, Bess and Eli met and fell in love there. But after too many of life’s heartaches, their marriage started to crumble to the point they could no longer stand to be in each other’s presence.

Needing to pack up their lake cabin in order to sell it before they get divorced, they take a quick trip which turns into a long walk down memory lane, prompted by their friends particularly Aaron, Bess’ best friend, who wants and needs to help them find the love they once had.

I can’t believe it’s been four years since I first went to Lake Fisher and met Katie and Jake. Their story was also a second chance romance and I loved every second of it. This time around, Tammy Falkner pens an equally fun and touching story where I wept because of life’s hardships while also smiled, laughed and felt full at seeing life at its fullest, friendships growing deeper, and families becoming stronger.

The story is told through Bess, Eli and Aaron’s points of view. Both Bess and Eli are appealing characters who have their own struggles to work through, while Aaron has his reasons (besides wanting to see his friends happy) for pushing them to fight for their marriage.

I usually only comment on the protagonists in a story, but Tammy infuses each and every one of her characters with so much personality that they all leap off the pages along with a great emotional plot. Jake and Katie from the previous book, Mr. Jacobson and even the kids all play an important part in this amazing story. I feel privileged every time I get to read one of Tammy’s book.

Feels like Home is a standalone, second chance contemporary romance. Told from various points of view with a fabulously happy tears ending.

“One more summer. But hopefully, it’ll be the best one yet.”

this one was such an improvement from the last one. I’m crying right now 😭😭

I honestly kinda loved everything about it??? I’m not a fan of second chance romances, but this one was very well written and it was just really good. I loved watching everyone play and have fun and it always made me tear up because I knew what was coming. This books is just really bittersweet, but I appreciate the author making it as light as possible while keeping the serious tone underneath.

This isn’t just a romance book, it deals with a lot of people and it was just the story of 6 best friends🥺

I wish the ending wasn’t rushed like that, though. I liked it, but I wish we could’ve gotten at least one more pov from Aaron or something. Although I loved how his last chapter was wrapped up.

I’m sad :( I really liked this, but it’s definitely a sad one.

“And in that moment I know that while I won’t get the happily-ever-after I would so desperately love to have, my kids will. And it’ll be okay.”

5 .0 stars. Wonderfully endearing, down to earth story. One that will have you in tears at times for the sad, the happy and the joy. All terrific characters with plenty of laughs and grins, but not without its drama. Jake/Katie and Jake's dad (who's hilarious) from book 1. As well as friends Eli/Bess and Aaron plus everyone's brood of kids. It's Eli/Bess's story his time with Aaron's much needed help for their fragile relationship. This story base is about love and lasting friendships among this brood, some starting as early babies and others from childhood.

Loved these characters as they meet at their favorite childhood campground/Lake Fisher for a get together. One they'll never forget. I can't say enough great about this heart warming, moving story.

I read book 1 too far back to remember all the details, but that didn't detract from this story at all if you just want to read this one as a stand alone. Enjoy!

This is the 2nd book of a trilogy, and is just as wonderful, heartwarming, fun, touching and magnificent as the first book! There are no words to describe how these stories grip the heart, the people, relationships, and situations are so real, they just fill you up! I smiled, I laughed, I cried, and was deeply affected in every way a person can be. Any reader who loves life, romance, friendship, family & children HAS to read these books, because they are more than stories, they are life-changing in the things you learn about all sorts of areas of life! LOVE THESE BOOKS!

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

This book made me tear up so much from happiness, laughing and sadness. I don't know how Tammy Falkner does it, but she creates the most wonderful, beautiful books that resonate with readers everywhere and puts so much emotion and FEELS. Her novels are so real, so life-like that it makes me feel like everything is happening to me, personally.

This book is definitely one of my top 10 novels of 2020, and it is one that I know I will be re-reading again and again.

There are three narrations in this book: Aaron, Bess, and Eli. At first I was confused. I didn't know who was going to end up with who or how it was going to end. But it wasn't about that. Each character had their own story to tell and Tammy Falkner did a wonderful job giving each of those characters their own voice and showing the struggles all three went through. And as long as you make sure to see who is narrating the chapter, the story will flow smoothly and it doesn't feel like it jerks you around at all.

Unlike the first book, I CAN relate to some aspects of this novel, so seeing that relationships struggle, the sizzle dies, shows that one can overcome those issues if they just try. That's uplifting and hopeful.

Aaron is a fantastic dad. You can tell just by looking at his kids and how they behave. Bess needed to grieve, and she got that chance during this summer everyone was at the camp. And Eli needed to trust again. I cannot put into words how REAL this book is.

Again, Pops, Mr. Jacobson, stole the show of this novel. I think as long as there are books in this series and Pops is there (he better be...I'll throw a fit), he will always steal the show. The scene at the bridge? I could not contain my uncontrollable laughter and 100% could not read for a few minutes because I was laughing to tears. But he also has his moments where he made me cry for the seriousness and emotional aspect that he brings to this novel.

I feel very honored to have gotten this eARC novel and was able to read this early, and this book is the exact example on why I one-click Tammy Falkner's novels, even if there is no synopsis. I know she will knock it out of the park and leave me feeling every sort of emotion out there. I'm not sure if there will be another book in this series, but I am 100% going to snatch it, or any other work, up by this author in the future!

Read it! You won't be disappointed!

So many feels…this book is so much more than just one story, one couple, one summer. This story is sweet, tender, heart-wrenching, heartwarming, and deliciously funny. Aaron has a mission when he decides to return to Lake Fisher. He needs his best friends, his family, there. His mission is one he doesn’t want to take but he has no choice. Too many lives depend on his success.

Feels Like Home is a fun, laugh-out-loud, entertaining story that will warm your heart while it is breaking. It has a little bit of everything. And the best character in the story? Well, that would have to be Pops. He is bigger than life and lives his life out loud! You’ll love him!!!

This was a very emotional read. I found myself in tears multiple times. This is Bess and Eli’s story and I really liked the way it unfolded. They met when they were teens and married pretty young, but their marriage didn’t go the way they had hoped. Now Aaron brings them back together at the place where they all met. Will old memories and new revelations help them find their way back to each other? I really enjoyed this book, and I am looking forward to more in this series.

I'd forgotten how profound Tammy's books can become. I knew I would cry, but it still felt like a genuine surprise that she tugged on my heart this much. She doesn't shy away from difficult topics and it makes me happy that she keeps writing these beautiful stories. These characters feel like old friends and extended family you smile sweetly every time you think of them.

4.5⭐

Beautiful story of love

This is a beautiful story of love and family. You will feel all the feels. You'll. Cry, laugh, be annoyed, and cheer while reading this. I just wish for an extra epilogue more detailed of life with the kids after.

A truly beautifully, witty, bittersweet well written story about friendship, forgiveness and above all love. A story of the bonds of friendship that are unbreakable and in some cases all you have above all else are friends who are family
