Stevie here, reporting to you live from Ebenezer Falls, WA with my disaster of a day.Yes, that’s right. I’m having a terrible day. The worst. It started off like any other day with the exception of Win’s strange behavior, that is. But it’s all gone downhill from there and I have questions. So many questions…For instance, why is everyone else in Eb Falls behaving as strangely as my International Man of Mystery? And who the heck is Donna? For that matter, who’s Candy Cane and why does she have snow? Who’s the blonde picking up Win in our driveway? And was that an Aston Martin I just saw drive by?What the heck is going on?I set out to have a perfectly nice day after a long summer filled with tourists and readings at Madame Zoltar’s shop. Since we'd had so little time to spend together these last few weeks, I was feeling a little left behind while Win was off on a guy’s day of his own, but a much-needed spa-day should have cured that.Or at least I thought it would. That was before everything turned upside down, Win became almost unreachable by phone or text, and the words blackmail, drugs, and extortion were bandied about…

Humor, trust issues, and strange behavior offered slapstick laughs.
Everything seems off for Stevie, from her spy guy’s behavior to the people of Ebenezer Falls. Stevie doubts her man in this fun, over the top tale. Everyone around her is acting like she is crazy, but Stevie knows something is up.
This was a quick listen that I devoured while wrapping presents. Stevie is observant, which leads her to moments of self-doubt when things don’t add up.
As the listener I felt I was privy to the happens and watching Stevie out of sorts had me laughing at the shenanigans. I ended up finishing with a smile.
Hollie Jackson has become the voice of these characters, from accents to the unique voices. Her pacing and tone add a fun layer to this series.
I recommend listening to the books in this series in the order of their release. While I am sure listeners can surmise what is happening, this is more a listen for fans of the series. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer
Stevie is having a really bad horrible day. Along the way she discovers some things about herself and all the changes life has brought with the addition of Win and Arkady into her life. This exciting addition to the series is as adorable and slapstick as one would wish. A terrific addition to the series.
Such a fabulous addition to this series. Stevie is trying really hard to trust spy guy but her curiosity is killing her. Is Win hiding something? Can Stevie trust him? Why are all her friends acting so strange.
Ok, in these times of Covid, something positive and nice is a reader's gift. That being said, there is very little story or mystery here. Generally, I one click this author every time a pre-order notification pops up, but in this case, I feel I wasted my money. About 30% in, I knew exactly where this was going. I kept waiting for the mystery and peril, to no avail. Sorry DC, I wish I'd skipped this purchase as next book will open with status update and by then I'd expect to find a plot. Title says it all. Sigh, next time.
The Witchless in Seattle stories are usually short but at 102 pages, this one was especially short and I finished in only a few hours. Since the book was short, my review will be very brief as well.
As you might have guessed, in Gettin’ Witched Win finally pops the question but in true Stevie style, she can’t keep her nose out of it and almost ruins the surprise. According to Win, it has taken two months of planning to get this night perfect. Win has a plan which he is trying to finalize. Problem is Stevie is naturally nosy and she hasn’t had a mystery to butt in on for months so her overactive imagination is in hyperdrive.
Stevie overhears conversations. There is a mystery woman in town named Donna who picks Win up and drives off. And Stevie is certain she saw an Aston Martin drive through Ebinezer Falls. the same sports car that her International Man of Mystery owns but which he never let her have.
Win is hiding something from her and Stevie is afraid that some skeleton has popped out of Win’s closet.
Not only is Win, Belfry and Arkady acting weird, it appears that the whole town is jumping every time they see her or simply avoiding her completely.
This series is my guilty pleasure. It truly is a literary Twinkie but I just love it. If you checked our my prior reviews on this series, I was cranky how things were going relationshipwise between Stevie and Win. He was dead and existing on plane Limbo helping Stevie investigate murders. He kept declaring that he would find a way back to be with Stevie. He figured out how to jump into his identical twin’s dying body, all to be with Stevie on the earthly plane and yet, he’s been living in the guest cottage that they built on the property instead of moving into the huge house that he helped design. Even with both of them almost dying again, it wasn’t forcing their relationship along. It was frustrating. What are they waiting for? Well, finally he proposes.
There are still some continuing issues which still need to be addressed, including the Warlock who took away her powers and who keeps trying to kill her and whether Stevie will ever get her powers back. I want answers but I hate to think any answers to these questions might just be the end of our fun.
I loved this one! The story is packed with humor, supernatural chaos, and a narrator who makes you feel like you’re right there in the middle of it all!
Stevie is an ex-witch living in Seattle who has recently lost her powers, and she’s having one seriously weird day. Her ghost-turned-human boyfriend, Win, is acting suspicious, the entire town seems off, and who the flibbity flabbity is Donna?
I really enjoyed the way Stevie narrates and directly talks to the reader. Her wit and sarcasm make the story fun and fast-paced while keeping the mystery intriguing.
Between the odd happenings, the colorful cast of characters, and Stevie’s sharp humor, Gettin’ Witched is a delightful cozy paranormal mystery that perfectly blends laughs with a touch of suspense and a happy ending.
4.5 Stars... The moment has finally arrived!!! Here is what I enjoyed so much about this book, as the reader, I felt as though I was in on the big secret... The clues given by the author were leading us to this inevitable moment and were somewhat obvious which made this read so much more fun... However, our beloved Stevie was hopelessly clueless which brought out her adorable personality and sleuthing characteristics which created a wonderful chaos that only enhanced that final moment of surprise... As a lover of this entire series, I absolutely adored this moment and how the author brought it to life... It fit both Win and Stevie to a tee; sheer perfection:)
Okay, don't get me wrong this was a fun listen. And I get why it gets a full book listing (as opposed to a 11.5 for example) - the series development is important. You don't want to miss this book. But I also really would have liked it if there were a full mystery! Because the only mystery in this book was super obvious from the get go.
I laughed quite a bit, because man oh man was Stevie clueless! For someone who routinely solves mysteries she was slow on the uptake. But, perhaps (like me) Stevie felt like surely something more HAD to be going on, right?
That said, this was a fun short novella with fun narration from Hollie Jackson (as always).
Such a sweet read and a fantastic addition to the series!!! Plenty of intrigue, suspense, and of course lots of laugh out loud moment. not much in the drama department but that didn't take away from the story. Overall a enjoyable and entertaining read. As always my review is voluntarily no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are my own.
As always, I love, love, love every new adventure with Stevie, Win, Bel, Whiskey, Strike and oops, I almost forgot Arkady! Thank you for another fun, enchanting visit with some of my favorite characters, from the phenomenal imagination of Dakota Cassidy. I especially loved this ending because it's been so anticipated.
I've really liked this series, but this one was only avaliable as an audiobook at my library and I didn't love the reader. Also, the title spoiled it for me - it was so obvious what was going on just from the title, and I wanted to know how obvious things would have been if I had been in the dark like Stevie.
Didn't like this one as much - I felt it should have been a part of another story. This one felt out of character and like it was thrown together just to have the story out there. I really feel this could have been intertwined into another story/ies and it would have worked better... that and keeping closer to her nature... I just dint care for this one as much as some of the others.
This author has the best characters. They are well drawn and very lovable. I especially like Bel. He's the familiar for the main character. His name is really Belfry and he is a bat.
Well I have to say this episode started slow but won me over in the end. Good for Stevie and Win. I really advise getting caught up by reading the previous Witchless in Seattle Mystery books before this one. I’m looking forward to the next stories about Hal.
Still trying q figure out how I read #13 before #12! UT never mind.. .IQ loved this so much, it is so Stevie! They are going go have a very exciting life together! So looking forward to #14
Even though this was an incredibly short book for this series, it was still action packed and I can’t complain. I do wish that it had been longer but since it was set in just one day I understand the need for it to be shorter than usual.
This is quick & easy read, filled with plotting and conspiring and at the same time trying to unravel the mystery at hand. Good thing everyone in town & beyond is in on the plan because it literally takes them all to keep Stevie occupied and in the dark.
I love this book! It is shorter than the others but it needed to be. Its perfect. Such a good story and so romantic. This series is just the best - the plots keep getting better, the characters get more fascinating, and each book is better than the last.
