half good
The only really good parts were the other characters then Jaq and Enora . All they did was act like teenagers refusing to communicate and have sex . They both was just very childish especially Enora for her to be a professional. Their were way too many POV and events mention then skipped (like Enora maybe being jealous of jasmine but it was never brought up again or resolved ) and why the people vote Jasmine as 2nd when she technically just as much as a “traitor” as Jaq ? What has she done to really earn their trust so quickly over all the other candidates that worked hard to save them .
This story was good but a lot thrown in a short story that didn’t get elaborate on .
And I notice the other characters are from other books it would have been nice to get an list on the order to read these stories to understand better what’s going on .

Ceres is in peril, and the secret is out.
Vampires are a huge problem; it need to be addressed.
Enora has her own problems, keeping the supernatural under the radar is getting harder, especially with the increasing body count.
There are so many things I like about this series: Maura's men (and their partners), the world of Ceres, with all its faults and pretty landscapes. The characters of Enora and Jacq and the council against the resistance is set up well. I can understand both.
Part 4 is on its way (YAY)

Definitely not a standalone. Don't even attempt to read unless you already know the world this series (and possibly an earlier series as well? A reviewer of the first book in the series mentioned being equally lost there too) is set in, because zero background information is given here. By the end I still wasn't 100% sure what was going on big picture-wise with these characters, though MC-relationship-wise I was good, at least.
It should NOT have taken me 3 days to read a less-than 150 page book. 🙇♀️
