Captain Ash Western Adventures #1

Trigger Finger: A Western Adventure

Rate this book
Brand new from Mike Mackessy! Action, gunplay and rip-roaring traditional Western adventure come together with an explosive bang!

A CSA captain of cavalry does not give his surrender. After witnessing his men executed by Yankee Blue Coats Captain Ash sets out for revenge. The trail leads him to Texas. There he runs afoul of a ruthless gang. Left for dead, buried up to his neck, abandoned, a squad of Texas Rangers find him. The Gang's leader Rio leaves Ash with a memento. He shoots off his right-hand trigger finger. After months spent in the east recovering, he resumes the hunt. In his right-hand holster, he now carries a sawed off 12-gage shotgun. Ash rides with the Rangers and guides for the US Cavalry on a disastrous mission against Comanche Indians. Branded a hot-head Ash begins bounty hunting. No matter what meets him he faces it and overpowers it. Ash extends understanding to those he deems worthy. However, he is still flesh and blood. Ash suffers through bullet and knife wounds, attacks on his name and reputation, and usually comes out ahead. The one constant is he never gives up.

Mr. Mackessy pulls no punches in this compelling western masterpiece, as Captain Ash helps to bring justice to the bad guys who have no qualms in their plight against the people in the area he feels responsible for!

Certainly five stars worthy, as this Rebel Captain of the Civil War tries to find his niche in life after the was is over. He does his job very well, but is often rejected by those he is working with as he has no qualms in how justice is served! Outstanding storylines throughout this compelling western folklore masterpiece, and the selection of characters are unsurpassed in their outstanding performances from beginning to end.
Captain Ash is a man's man, and uses whatever tactics it takes to get the job completed successfully! He is always being scrutinized by his superiors, as he takes very few prisoners. The Texas Rangers in the field, she he is working with them, appreciate his capabilities, but the "upper crust" always thinks he is too severe in the way his justice is served!
Definitely recommend this compassionately motivated, and most certainly entertaining, revelations of how our old American West was probably finally tamed! Ash is a man's man, and his brashness is definitely a life saving attribute that sees him through the scary times in his life! Even you non-western fanatics will find yourselves completely engrossed in following Ash, as he, and his compadres, strive to protect the innocent throughout their assigned areas of responsibility! His being a Rebel Captain definitely prepares him for the many endearing achievements distillery you glued to the story from beginning to end!!!😃

Good read

I never knew that New Orleans was West of San Antonio until I read this book but sure enough it is written they came out of San Antonio headed West for New Orleans. I mean come on Mike at least Google Maps can show you San Antone is a long dang drive in a fast car WEST of New Orleans. That is why I only gave you four stars. I really enjoyed both books and look forward to book number three.

Lots of characters

Started out good then got confusing and then at the end different names were used on the characters Hard to keep your reading flow going when all of a sudden you have a different character. Plenty of action.

Trigger Finger live's on. "Unstoppable"

One of the most exciting westerns I've ever read. AND-I've read a lot in my 80 years. Every time I thought it was the end, it started again. Now I'm sorry its over.

Captain Ash is riveting!

Trigger Finger introduces a new character to Western fiction. The author takes great pains to research his guns, scenery, and timelines. Excellent effort and can’t wait for another from this author!

Minus writing closer to D

Interesting story line ruined by very poor grammar writing editing. Many parts read like a movie script. Possibly written by someone who was in a writing class. Syntax is confused timing is jumbled names are thrown in

This was a great action packed adventure that keeps you interested in it and doesn't matter which part you're in as it is just one continuous adventure after another.

Exciting

I always like to see the good guys win. They eliminated quite a few bad ones. They had a rough way to go.
