With the completion of the Red Door and the prize money doubled, Meg is determined to tackle the White Door, a portal she’s been drawn to since they started the game. But when Brek is attacked and almost killed, they are thrust into the new world sooner than they planned.
And it is a world unlike any they’ve encountered before. Within a setting five hundred years in the future, they find a human race on the brink of extinction. The leader had helped a select few escape Earth on a spacecraft before the planet was destroyed, attempting to create a sinless society. The ones who are considered less than perfect are exiled to a nearby planet.
Traveling to the future, Meg and Brek finally discover the inner workings behind the game and Rosenbaum’s true motivations. They also find out that the people they thought they could trust might be holding secrets far too deep to forgive.
The White Door is the third book in Heather Kindt’s young adult fantasy series. If you like secret societies, masquerades, and microscopic robots, then you’ll love the third installment of the Eternal Artifacts series.
You know when you get invested in a series and the author throws in a twist you just did not see coming and totally makes you view your guilty pleasure series in a whole new light?
Yup… Kindt just did that to me and I am all in my feels about it. Hands down I am invested in this one to the end. What started as a deadly game for epic prize money has turned into so much more. However, you have to read this series to find out what the twist is.
This is one of my favorite unique plot series for 2020. The world building has been different for each book and I love the jump across genres from fantasy to almost sci-fi. The White Door holds more of a futuristic vibe with a hint of magic. The characters go up and down for me though. In this one I feel Meg has been cornered to the point she’s lost her protagonist strength. It fits the plot but it made her character frustrating to appreciate because of her decisions. I am still a bit hesitant with the topsy-turvy relationship triangle but man the twist in the last few chapters just about made it worth it. A sense of powerlessness and constant roadblocks brought a lot of feeling to the surface. Excellent themes of standing for what is right, acceptance, honesty and not being bullied into situations in this installment.
The darkest door is up next and I am itching to find out how Meg maneuvers this task. There is a lot hanging on her decisions and I am excited to see what Kindt reveals in the next novel. Thank you to Heather Kindt for the opportunity to review this gifted digital arc for an honest and unbiased review. True rating 3.5, rounded for Goodreads.
**I received a digital ARC of this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.**
Ohhhh my goodness. You guys! This book. So good. Although I think that The Red Door is still my favorite, this one is a really close second.
The setting/plot for this one is really unique. It is set in space, basically, so it was more sci-fi mixed with fantasy. I loved it. I flew through this one! It was such a page-turner. I never wanted to put it down.
This story dives way deeper into a storyline rather than just the challenge behind the door like the previous two books. This one went so much farther with the story than I expected. We’re not really playing a game anymore, now it’s so much more than that. And honestly, it’s a little terrifying. I have NO idea what’s going to happen in the next book, but I’m 99.8% sure it’s going to rip my heart out.
This one had so many twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. Especially in that last chapter. Um excuse me, WHAT. Crazy things to come for sure.
As always, I love Meg’s character. Although I do feel that she was a little less strong in this one. She went through a lot, definitely, but she didn’t seem as strong to me in this one. Determined, sure. Just not her usual strong female lead.
I like Carter enough. Brek is still my favorite, he’s just so sweet. I’m not sure of how I feel about the love triangle, honestly. I feel like things didn’t quite make sense there in some ways, vaguely put to save from spoilers.
Overall, I have adored this series so far! I thought for some reason that this was going to be a trilogy, so to find that we’re getting another book makes me so excited! This series has such a unique premise, as I always say, but it really does. It’s so interesting, and I can’t wait to see what happens behind The Black Door. (Or at least I assume that is where we’re headed, haha).
Seriously guys, read this series!! You will not regret it. Kindt is such a thrilling storyteller. Her writing catches you immediately, and you won’t be able to put it down.
I love binge-reading a series and I've currently a lot of time for reading 😏
The 3rd book was extremely exciting and gripping. This crazy creepy "choose a door" game transformed into a brutal reality for Meg, Brek, and Carter. From a magical and difficult survival trip adventure in the first book, the 3rd book is a mix of horror and a real psycho-thriller story.
Yes, it's still a fantasy story, but I'm not sure it's still a YA genre. This is a brutal, emotional and not for faint-hearted story.
I understood that each door is always a level harder and more brutal, but this book was quite a few levels up when it comes to the horror and stuff I've just read about.
The game is no longer a game, but a fight for survival. Searching for different artifacts and visiting different worlds, their life is constantly in danger.
I received this and as an eARC to read for free in exchange for my honest review. Thank you Heather Kindt for giving me access.
This was, once again, a PAGE TURNER! Oh my word. As The Red Door was probably my favorite, this one comes at a very close second. The character development we have is just amazing….and what was that?
WHAT?
What just happened? A plot twist that I didn’t see coming? Umm YES PLEASE! But please stand by as I dry my ocean of tears. There are so many twist and turns in this one that you don’t know who to trust.
All we know is: this is no longer just a game.
For what I thought was just going to be a trilogy, I am thoroughly excited there will be another installment!
This book is so good just like the other two installments. The story took me all over the place and anxious to see what will occur next with the characters. The writing is amazing and the plots, storyline and how everything comes together in the story. I really enjoyed this book and I’m looking forward to reading more future books from this talented writer.
This series just gets better and better! Thank you Heather for the eARC, I binge read this in one day. I'm so happy I got my ship wish :) The character development in this book was superb and omg don't get me started on the plot. The world building! The betrayal! The romance! The reunions! I can't wait for the next book I need it ASAP please and thank youuuu! Y'all need to read this series!
Absolutely amazing! So much action and suspense is waiting behind The White Door. Meg, Brek, Cater and others enter but will they exit? You will be on the edge of your seat throughout this entire book! Must read and be ready for the unexpected!
Thank you to all of you who have read The White Door. I want to use this space to provide you with a link to find out more about the world behind the doors. If you subscribe to my newsletter (I usually just give you info on cover reveals, book releases, etc.) you can get a free copy of the Secrets of the White Door which will give you insider knowledge into the world of the Eternals Society. Not even the characters are privy to this information! I'd love for you to join me on this literary journey.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I love that it is mainly sci-fi themed with a mix of fantasy. The story was fast-paced and thrilling that will keep you glued until the end. I like the introduction of new characters and the uncovering of their identities, but the world-building and the stories are getting better and engrossing as the series progresses. Out of the three books in the series, this was by far, my favorite read!
The story is about Megan and Brek entering the White Door to win huge prize money to support their families. The third book started with Brek’s car accident that almost cost his life. And due to a threat in Brek’s life and with Carter missing in action, they decided to escape their pursuers and went straight to the Rosenbaum Mansion.
This book is where all the bombshells will be revealed and the plot has a pivotal part in the whole series. I’m happy that my favorite supporting character was again introduced in this story and I can’t wait to know how she will help the main protagonist in the Black Door. I don’t want to reveal so much and I highly recommend you to read this book!!!
I’m very very grateful to the author and to the publisher for allowing me to read and review this book. I so look forward to reading The Black Door because this novel ended with a cliffhanger.
Okay, if you have been reading this series, I cannot wait for you to grab this one! If you haven’t started this series, it is amazing, and you should absolutely read it! Please do not start the series with this book. This is a series that should be read in order. These are not stand-alone stories.
The White Door picks up pretty soon after the last book ends. We are literally thrown into the action within the first few pages, and it’s a heart-racing adventure from there on out. Someone is trying to kill Brek, and they don’t know who. Behind the white door, Meg and Brek discover yet another world, but this one proves to be so different from the previous ones. They find themselves thrown into crazy plans that have involved them from the start, and dangers that are proving to be more real than they could have ever expected.
I devoured this book! The first two books in this series are so much fun. They were exciting and adventurous. This one though, took a crazy turn, making the whole story come full circle in a way. I’m left with so many questions and a need to know what happens in the next book, but I feel like the puzzle is starting to come together now!
There is a lot of action in this one, and the story moves really quickly. I liked that this one really relies on Meg and helps her to see her own value and worth, she’s not just a girl from the Dump. She is an awesome person with her own strength and importance. It was wonderful character development, and I can’t wait to see what happens with her in the next book!!
I was provided a gifted copy of this book for free. I am leaving my review voluntarily.
We’ve been behind the Green door. We’ve survived the events of the Red door and now we’ve been blown away by the world behind the White door.
Once again Meg and co decide to tackle one of the increasingly more dangerous doors in order to go away with cash prizes. This time around however, our heroes are adventuring in outer SPACE. I have to admit that I completely didn’t see that coming.
Once again it’s hard to get into too many details because it would be too easy to simply give the plot away but I can once again say how impressed I am with the word building. The author essentially builds a new world within her existing one with each subsequent book and once again doesn’t disappoint. This unfortunately led me to believe that for a series, the worlds would be under-developed overall because the author is introducing new worlds instead of building on the previous ones. BUT we finally get to see more of the plot beyond the doors and it’s definitely one that’s filled me with far more anticipation for the future. The white door really ties the books into a series instead of the almost stand alone that they could potentially be.
Meg (our main girl) is starting to fall a little flat for me at this point and instead of becoming more invested with the lass I feel myself growing impatient. I’m also starting to get over this love triangle. Pick Brek already will you 😂 despite this, I enjoyed this book far more than the red door and the ending was FANTASTIC. I was beginning to lose interest the last book and I’ve done a sharp turnaround for this one. The white door was just so much more engaging and exciting. The plot was better, the prize was bigger and the stakes are really and truly much higher.
The premise remains brilliant and I really do recommend this series bits a relatively quick read and easy to get behind.
The mystery finally comes together! The first two books introduced you to the characters and the concept of the worlds, and grew the characters. But The White Door really kicks this into gear. Secrets are revealed, emotions are made known, and things that you were questioning in the previous books now make sense.
This is my favourite of the series so far. The storyline of this one had more meaning to the overarching plot, which the other two felt like build up and filler episodes. The characters make questionable decisions and seem to change their mind super quickly, but they are all trying to deceive each other in some way, which makes it interesting.
I actually cheered when Esme showed up. I wish we got to see more of her!
Once again, you never know where they’re going to end up when they walk through one of the doors. The Sci-Fi setting was a departure from the last two and there was so much more behind the door than I anticipated. I’m so intrigued to see what we find behind the black door!
Heather's 3rd Book in The Eternal Artifacts series ended with a cliff hanger. It was another one of Heather's books that was difficult to predict with a number of twists and turns. It will be hard to wait for the August publication of the Black Door. Loved it!!!
This series reminds me of why i stopped reading other series. After two books of falling in love with characters, the rug is pulled out from under you, they are no longer who you loved. I have enough of that in life. Not sure if I’ll read the last book or not. I’m very disappointed. :(
This series is amazing! I love how it feels like hunger games and narnia but is still its own thing. The twists and turns, secrets and suspense omg up to the last book now!
This is my least favorite of the series so far. I can’t pinpoint why... too much double-crossing, maybe? Don’t get me wrong, I’m still going to read the final book!
I read a digital version. It had a handful of errors in it: 1. “Polygram” was used instead of “polygraph”. This was written properly at a later point. 2. “Land lover” was used in a simile rather than “landlubber.” 3. The phrase “slammed the door open” was used, which makes zero sense.
Regardless of said errors, the series is entertaining. I would still recommend it. I have a feeling that the final book will be good. If I’m wrong, my recommendation for the series will likely change. Off to start book 4 now!
