This series is so fun! It's one of those books that allows you to easily escape from hardships. (I read it during one of my intense depression months I dealt with this year and it was a nice distraction xD) I'm honestly surprised I like it, because of how many love interests are involved with our main character, but there's something about it that works. It's super light hearted and I adore the video game aspect that's threaded through it. Also the doggo is a major appeal lol

Mein neuer Lieblings Graphic Novel! 😍

Ich weiß gar nicht wo ich anfangen soll, aber ich muss was zu diesem Buch schreiben. Ich hoffe, dass ganz viele von euch dem GN eine Chance geben!

Es ist cozy, lustig, ein bisschen romantisch, aber auch empowernd. Ein süßer Hund, tolle Freunde und nerdy Themen. Es ist perfekt für alle die hin und wieder einen Controller in der Hand haben.

Es ist aber auch perfekt für alle die schon immer mal einen Graphic Novel, Comic oder Manga lesen wollten. Ein perfekter Einstieg der einfach nur das Herz höher schlagen lässt. 🫶🏽

Ich bin so glücklich, dass Band 2 schon im September erscheint und werde es zu 100% allen weiterempfehlen die bereit sind zu zuhören. 🥹💞

Liebevolle Zeichnungen, Videospiele, Humor und eine sympathische Protagonistin

Sam ist stolz auf ihr erstes eigenes Game, das sie auf einer Plattform für Indie-Spiele veröffentlicht, aber sie erhält vernichtende Bewertungen, als der erfolgreiche Influencer Marshall ihr Spiel kritisiert. Denn seine Fans stimmen ihm zu, ohne dem Spiel überhaupt eine Chance zu geben. Natürlich ist Sam dann alles andere als erfreut, als Marshall ausgerechnet in der Wohnung nebenan einzieht.

Als erstes ist mir der Zeichenstil aufgefallen: die liebevollen Zeichnungen, in denen Gefühle oft übertrieben dargestellt oder auch personifiziert werden und miteinander kämpfen, außerdem haben mir auch die vielen kleinen Bezüge zu Videospielen sehr gut gefallen. Zusammen mit etwas Kitsch und albernen Situationen machen sie einen großen Teil des Charmes der Geschichte aus.

Meine einzige Kritik wäre, dass die Graphic Novel so kurz war! Es gibt schon einige Handlungsstränge, die angerissen werden, darunter neben Marshall zwei weitere Romantic-Interests, Sams Karriere als Spiele-Entwicklerin und auch in der IT-Firma ihres Vaters, ihre Freunde und außerdem auch Sams persönliche Entwicklung, da sie am Anfang eher schüchtern ist und Konfrontationen lieber aus dem Weg geht. Aber von den meisten Dingen bekommt man nur erste Eindrücke und hat kaum Zeit, sich an die Charaktere zu gewöhnen.

Zwischen all dem steht der Konflikt zwischen Sam und Marshall noch am ehesten im Mittelpunkt; Sam wollte mit ihrem Adventure-Puzzle-Game ihre Leidenschaft für Spiele teilen, aber Marshall scheint nicht bewusst zu sein, welchen Einfluss er als "Viewtuber" auf seine Fans hat. Sam ist sowieso schon schüchtern, da hilft es ihrem Selbstbewusstsein nicht wirklich, wenn sie online plötzlich so viel Negativität erfährt. Dadurch gibt es auf jeden Fall auch ein ernstes Thema, das der unterhaltsamen Graphic Novel noch etwas mehr Tiefe verleiht.

Fazit
Sam ist eine sympathische Protagonistin und ich freue mich auf mehr von ihrer Geschichte, bisher hatte ich auf jeden Fall viel Spaß an der Graphic Novel, die mit einem tollen Zeichenstil und viel Humor überzeugen kann.

En el primer volumen, Krecic nos introduce en la vida de Sam, una programadora de videojuegos que se enfrenta a dificultades tanto en su carrera como en su vida social, se ve obligada a convivir con Marshall, un streamer conocido en las redes. Sin embargo, la relación entre ellos comienza bastante mal. Después de un incidente inicial, sus vidas se convierten en un campo minado de malentendidos y conflictos y más ahora que se convierten en vecinos.

Me ha gustado mucho introducirme en esta historia, ya que no solamente se tratan temas como futuros próximos pretendientes amorosos de Sam, sino que trata también temas más serios como la ansiedad social, la presión de la fama en internet y la forma en que las relaciones humanas se complican en una sociedad tan líquida 🚣🏻‍♀️

Además, como la historia gira en torno al mundo de los videojuegos, ha despertado mi faceta de amante de este universo y lo mucho que disfruto jugando 🎮💕

Lo que no me ha gustado es que estoy acostumbrada a lecturas en que mientras se va leyendo la historia, poco a poco te vas enterando de todo lo que ocurre, pero en este caso el volumen te introduce muy ligeramente los temas, por lo que toca leer más partes para seguir conociendo lo que les ocurre a los personajes.

Os recomiendo mucho esta lectura si os gustan los videojuegos pero al mismo tiempo leer una historia llena de personajes interesantes y con problemas muy reales ✨

PD: la historia del perrito Bowser es súper tierna 💙

Let me start off by saying as a future CS major this was so exciting ! I loved all the coding references and lingo but even without being one I think it's still a really great story . These come into play due to our main character being a developer (her dream and hobby is developing and playing video games ) Her friends are also gamers(play only ) and I loved how they showed that they all had their different personalities and varying interests despite all being gamers .Also notice that her dog is called Bowser and he has a princess peach toy/doll !! MARIO REFERENCEEEEE .A collection of geeks brought together by this .I rlly need to highlight the amount of characters here that just rlly capture your heart in their different ways , such dimensions and vibrancy to them even with the side characters. From Jacob aka the guy who manages to be professional and appreciative with his funny comments that must include “dude” , while still maintaining formality and lightheartedness . My dude jacob to viki a practical goddess and such a sweetheart with her soothing presence ( I want me a viki ) and MONICA OH LORD MONICA ! I 100% did not expect to fall in love with this woman- if anything the complete opposite , yk that character you just expect to be catty and jealous and all that bull? COLOUR ME PLEASED . SHE IS A BAWSE , confident in herself to the point where she isn't threatened by other females and is actually super sweet and caring to them and others alike , as well as a TOTAL alpha female and i love to see it . *clears throat * sorry , did i say how much even side characters capture ur heart ? We also get their stories along the way and get to see them develop as well . Its so heartwarming . I think ill just dedicate a lil to our main characters and ships , I also have much to say on side characters but Ill just limit myself .

Charles- At first I wasn't too into him , he felt very distanced and robotic… too composed . also like he might be hiding something and nefarious …he rarely showed emotion and it threw me off a lil but once again , he kinda won me over .
First his nickname for her ! arghh when nicknames/pet names come into play….
He was approved by bowser .

Hes hot , hes actually rlly rlly hot when he lets his hair down ( quite literally ) messy charles that no one else gets to see is GOSHDAYUM yes plz !
Then I noticed how much he helped FMC , he really pushed her to better herself without being overbearing and allowing her to make the decision for herself ( which no one does ) , her confidence boomed as well as her self image and so ofcrs I thought the relationship to be very healthy .

And their moments ? talk abt FIRE AND SPICE. Also rlly funny hahaha “did you know swans can be gay ?” “Yes, you already told me” “Isnt it beautiful ?” *proceeds to cry again in his arms * I WILL NEVER FORGET THIS SCENE YALL ❤😂
We do have quite alot to unpack tho , i mean with charles and his chaining of emotions …then him letting go of them ….then the chains leading to her and he begins to show signs of possesiveness…then him going for sex and distraction when he felt low bcz of his wife cheating memories but forgoing it all to cuddle with her when she asked … Idk where this is going ppl?

Marshall- I lava you benji but idk if that means I ship you 2 as more than friends . I could get down with it yes but its not an active shipping right now . Especially because I really liked his relationship with Monica , I really wasn't expecting a breakup but I love that they continued to be friends and get to know each other more in that way as well as working out their personal issues alongside each other , but tbh i still really ship them and hope they have a second-chance romance I loved their dynamic. Marshmallow has such a big heart its so cute . And he's a wittle baby with all his crying and cuddles but a great person over all .

FMC- As expected I really did like her , with all her anxiety , introvertedness and kind heart but towards a point she was getting a lil too wimpy and I wanted her to WOMAN UP , it wasn't too bad but I'm relieved she began to improve or work on herself (mainly due to charles being a catalyst). Her dad is such a goof ball too ! its funny and he's also rlly loving but hes' too protective and treats her much like a child which really affected her , following s3 finale episode you can see that its gotten wayyyyy out of hand , theyr gonna have to work on that and id be excited to see it.

I moved thru SO MANY ships istg , it just shows the absolute control and skill the author has in redirecting us and convincing us of all these potential suitors .I will admit that things got a lil TOO ? romantic as time progressed and the whole coding jokes and interest didn't make much of an appearance and shine like it did which was a lil disappointing but lemme not lie , I NEED TO KNOW WHO IT IS SHE ENDS UP WITH . even if i'll never get to see it play out i just NEED TO KNOW bcz this webtoon spans for a total of 3 seasons up to where I stopped and i have no idea if we'll get anymore .Things remained unresolved and that would be disappointing

I was quite impressed with how this webtoon portrays people's struggles and how they deal with them .They display fear , anxiety , personal space , confrontation, depression and multiple other battles characters face on the daily .The way they’re shown is also rather creative!.Mental health issues are accurately represented and you don't see that a lot so the rep here was important :) With the rep , these factors aren't made fun of , cast aside or make a characters whole personality <3
Rlly liked this and at one point may have considered a 5 star but as an overall rating for the whole series I give 4 stars

Hat total viel Spaß gemacht! Die Geschichte hatte mich ab Seite 1 mit ihrer sehr spannenden Ausgangslage! Außerdem konnte mich die Videospiel Thematik komplett abholen. Viele der Anspielungen waren super witzig umgesetzt. Generell entsteht viel Komik allein durch den Zeichenstil 😄 Manche Situationen waren allerdings etwas absurd und ich frage mich, wie viele Love Interests unsere Protagonistin eigentlich bekommt. Sie scheint umgeben von heißen, willigen Männern zu sein 😂
Was mich zwischendurch ein wenig gestört hat, ist dass die Schrift ziemlich klein ist und manche Seiten recht voll wirken. Am Layout könnte da noch etwas gearbeitet werden.
Ansonsten ein sehr vielversprechender Start! 😁

J'ai adoré ! C'est drôle, c'est addictif, c'est intéressant et je me suis déjà énormément attachée aux personnages (j'ai d'ailleurs hâte d'avoir la suite parce que ça promet quelque chose de trèèèès intéressant). Je suis loin d'être une gameuse, mais ce webtoon m'a emportée et m'a presque donné envie de m'y mettre eheh.

Auf der Buchmesse bin ich das erste Mal auf diese Graphic Novel aufmerksam geworden. Ich hatte eine Postkarte am Lyx Stand mitgenommen und die Freundesgruppe darauf hatte einfach etwas total einladendes, sodass man eigentlich sofort mit ihnen einen Gaming Abend veranstalten möchte. Deswegen habe ich mich auch sehr auf die Geschichte gefreut und wurde zu Anfang auch erstmal nicht enttäuscht.

Sam ist eine sehr interessante und vielseitige Protagonistin, die wir von mehreren Facetten kennenlernen. Je nachdem in welchem Umfeld sie gerade ist oder welches ihrer Interessen gerade im Vordergrund steht, bringt sie entweder ein gewisses Selbstvertrauen an den Tag oder nicht. Dies zu beobachten fand ich sehr faszinierd und hat mich auch sehr an mich selbst erinnert. Ich glaube, viele können sich damit identifizieren, dass man in seinen Leidenschaften eher aufblüht.

Mir haben auch die Nebencharaktere gefallen, nur komme ich da schon zu meinem Manko. Ich war kein Fan von dem ganzen Liebeschaos, welches sich schon hier in Teil 1 angebahnt hat. Es war mir einfach too much und hat mich komplett aus der Handlung gerissen. Zwar war es auch manchmal unterhaltsam, aber meistens hab ich einfach nur die Augen verdreht.

Einen großen Pluspunkt möchte ich aber noch für den Hund vergeben, der war klasse und auch die Bonusstory zu ihm hat mein Herz zum Schmelzen gebracht.

Oh und einen weiteren gibt es natürlich auch noch für den Zeichenstil und den Erzählstil der Story. Ich mochte sehr, wie die Pannels angeordnet waren und die Farben harmoniert haben. Außerdem hatten alle Charaktere deutliche Eigenschaften und sind zeichentechnisch herausgestochen.

Fazit

"Let's Play Teil 1" ist eine kurzweilige und unterhaltsame Geschichte über eine Protagonistin, die in ihren Hobbys aufblüht und uns mit durch ihren Alltag nimmt. Durch die sich anbahnende verzwickte Liebesgeschichte war die Geschichte leider nicht so ganz meins, aber ich bin gespannt, wie es weiter geht! Das war ein wilder Ritt. Vor allem der Start war holprig. Ich habe wirklich so einige Zeit gebraucht, um mich an diesen für mich ungewohnten Zeichenstil zu gewöhnen. Der ist nämlich echt sehr Comic, fast schon Cartoon-mäßig und zweidimensional. Und bunt! Das bin ich als passionierte Manga-Leserin gar nicht gewöhnt. Auch muss ich sagen, dass der Stil auf Bildschirmen meiner Meinung nach viel besser funktioniert als in Print. Man merkt total, hat man sich das ganze einmal im Browser angeschaut, dass es ein Webtoon ist. Ich weiß auch nicht, was sich LYX bei der Setzerei gedacht hat. Warum soooo viel weiß auf den Seiten? Warum die Panels nicht größer? Warum die Schrift so klein? Ey ich bin 30, ich hab mittlerweile alte Augen. Kurzum, ich habe auf den Webtoon (und auf Englisch) geswitcht und langsam aber sicher konnte ich mein Herz für die Geschichte öffnen ... und irgendwann konnte ich nicht mehr aufhören und habe an einem Tag 30 Kapitel gelesen :D

Ich liebe es mittlerweile total, dass sich alles so langsam entwickelt, weil die Autorin einfach ganz viel Wert auf Details in den Charakteren legt. So konnte ich mit Sam und ihren Reaktionen am Anfang nicht so viel anfangen, aber holy moly, was sie für eine Geschichte hinter sich hat!
Ich liebe es außerdem, wie die Autorin hier und da Feuerchen legt und man überhaupt nicht abschätzen kann, in welche Richtung das ganze gehen wird... aber man hat ganz viele Hoffnungen und Wünsche und damit weiß sie einfach zu spielen. Der Humor ist auch einfach überragend. Ich brauchte ein bisschen, um reinzukommen, aber mittlerweile habe ich es verstanden und kann nicht genug bekommen! Bei all den Einzelheiten rund um die IT- und Video-Game-Welt steige ich zwar immer noch nicht so durch, aber trotzdem bleibe ich köstlich unterhalten!

Also all in all habe ich gerade sehr viel Spaß an der Serie und ich werde sie sicherlich online weiterlesen! Von daher danke LYX, auch wenn ich nicht viel mit eurer Ausgabe anfangen kann; ihr habt mich auf die Serie aufmerksam gemacht und ich bin sehr gespannt, ob sie das Niveau halten kann!

Let’s Play ist eine erholsame, harmonische und entspannte Geschichte - genau, was ich gebraucht habe! Hierbei haben mir vor allem die Charaktere gefallen. Sam wirkt unglaublich nahbar und authentisch. Ich kann mir vorstellen, dass wir entweder selbst eine Sam sind oder zumindest eine in unserem Leben kennen. Am liebsten wäre ich ins Buch gestiegen, hätte mich mit ihr angefreundet und sie einmal umarmt 🩵 Sam kämpft mit einigen Problemen und Ängsten, wobei sie dennoch immer das Gespräch sucht und für sich selbst einsteht, was ich sehr bewundert habe. Marshall war ebenfalls toll und ich freue mich schon in Teil 2 darauf, mehr über das zu erfahren, was bisher nur angedeutet wurde. Ebenso sind mir die Freunde von Sam schnell ans Herz gewachsen, weil sie trotz Nebencharakter alle ihre Zeit im Comic bekommen haben. Durch die nerdigen Themen, Zeichenstil und Humor, wurde die Geschichte zu einer tollen Mischung aus ernsthaften und unterhaltenden Themen! Wer mit Let’s Plays, YouTube und Computerspielen aber so gar nichts anfangen kann, wird sich hier eventuell schwer tun. Da ich Let’s Plays selbst gerne schaue und mich für die Branche interessiere, fand ich es einfach nur super und mochte die Anspielungen sehr gern! 😄

Vraiment intéressant! Je m'attendais à une histoire qui allait plus tourner autour d'une relation amoureuse... mais non pas du tout! On parle de jeux vidéos, autant de développement que d'y jouer, d'amitié, oui d'amour et aussi un brin fémininiste à sa manière! Très drôle et divertissant, hâte de voir la suite!

This is a really good rom-com. It's funny, cute, sexy and absolutely amazing! The story is really interesting. It kept me hooked. I couldn't put it down!

The female lead (Sam) is a game designer and the male lead (Marshall) is a pro gamer (although he has a girlfriend). Sam is your typical awkward girl who doesn't have an active social life. And Marshall is not that satisfied with his life as well. But there is still so much more to this story...A lot of video game talk takes place among the characters. So I'm sure every video game lover will love this comic!
There will be three hot boys in this book which is amazing!!😍😏

If you've read the Webtoon of this (as I have), then there's no point in really getting into the plot because that might spoil it for others who want to read it online, so instead I'll just talk about what I like in a non-spoiler way:

+ the way that this comic is accessible even for people who aren't gamers, because honestly, that might be a concern. The main point of the plot does start out being oriented around Sam's game, but honestly, the author makes it very open and accessible so that even non-gamers like myself who suck at video games can get into it. Sam's conflict is heartbreaking, real, and serious--and you have to respect it, whether you like video games or not.

+ Sam as a character and how her inner emotions, especially the ones relating to social anxiety, are represented. It's a simple way to represent emotions, kind of like Inside Out, but it is very effective in this medium.

+ Bowser's Big Day, the special little story at the end. This is something exclusive to this book, so I don't think it's online and, honestly, it's a little heartbreaking, but with a happy ending so it's worth it.

All in all, super happy to have this in book form and to read over and over and over again. Can't wait to get started on Volume 2 and have Volume 3 (and so on) come out!
