In the Bin: Reckless and Rude Stories from the Penalty Boxes of the NHL

Rate this book
Hockey is best known for its bad boys, those players who spend as much time on the ice swinging punches as they do swinging their sticks. Here is an inside look at the exciting, suspenseful, sometimes outrageous world of an NHL game -- on the ice and in the sin bin.

I was reading this book when I went to Jamaica for work. I was on the bus going to the resort from the airport and a cute guy was next to me and asked me if I was a Rangers fan. I remember thinking, "Wow, this book could be a good pick up line. Too bad I'm a Devils fan." I read this book when I was infatuated with hockey and wanted to learn anything and everything about it. I had picked up other books about hockey -- stories about the Cup, stories about specific players -- but this book was written based on the stories of the guys who were almost on the ice with the players and got to see everything that was going on. I've always wanted to be a penalty time keeper -- you're just about on the ice with the players, have a decent view of the games, and probably hear some things that never make it in the papers or on TV. I loved reading the stories about some of the players and some of the incidents that I remembered watching. It somehow made the players seem more real and gave the game a different feel.
