The Church is usually a sacred place that you go to get on the right path in life. However, for Kristy Hart, the church took everything from her including her childhood. Being thick and curvy most women think of that as a blessing but not for Kristy. Dealing with a past that haunts her she learns to keep pushing forward no matter the circumstance. Myles Miller, also known on the streets as Lucky, is focused on getting his stacks up. That is until he runs across the baddest BBW in Atlanta, Kristy. Her aura gains his full attention, she not only is beautiful, but her personality is like no other. After dealing with so much Kristy is cautious of Lucky, however, she learns quickly that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. With curves that can make a grown man cry and looks that not even a straight woman can resist, this beauty still goes through life like everyone else. Juggling being a single mother, depression, financial issues, and reconnecting with her family. Stay tuned this is one story you do not want to miss!
This definitely speaks to how flawed the church community is & how a lot of people try to make it out as perfect! So many things happen in church that aren’t good, I feel that it doesn’t even really stand for what it once did.
Anyway, Myles “Lucky” Miller & Kristy Hart made a beautiful couple! It was crazy to see how their stories tied into one another’s and how they both suffered.!
The book was missing something for me, but it was an overall decent read.
This book was so good!! It grabs you from the beginning and hold you until the very end. It’s always the people that supposed to be there for you that hurts you the most. Kristy went through so much yet she still made a way for her and Sarah. I would have never thought she and Lucky would have gotten together because they were so different, I didn’t really care for Peter just because of the way her was coming at her then to show up at her house. That was definitely a red flag. I’m happy Kristy made it through the trauma she endured as a child. Lucky was a street guy but he knew that it wasn’t the life for him. This was a great book and you won’t be disappointed. Wish it was a part two
This book had my attention from the cover to the last page. Kristy's life was very tumultuous because she had been threatened to keep her abuse a secret for the sake of her mother and younger siblings' well-being. Being raised in a single parent household was rough, but her mother always provided. Her mother's faith had them in church every Sunday, but she was oblivious to just what was happening right under her nose. One particular Sunday forever changed all of their lives for the worse, and it separated Kristy and her siblings for years. Flash forward several years later, Kristy completely avoids men and swears to keep her daughter from experiencing the same trauma she endured. She meets 2 men by chance, but only one truly piques her interest and makes her long for a romantic connection, but that's after they had words, lol. Something seems so familiar about her new man, but she can't put her finger on it. Her daughter loving him makes her just go with the flow until an unsettling truth comes to light, right after her going through one of her worst fears. This book was like being glued on your favorite movie or TV show. It was messy, full of drama, spicy, traumatic, and just all around a great read. It touches on many things that go on, especially in the black community pertaining to the church and many households. It was very realistic and written well.
Kristy went through a lot at a very young age from being raped and molested to becoming a mother at the young age of thirteen. On top of it all she witnesses the murder of her mother. After getting pregnant by her rapist she still perservered through life head on. This story line became very interesting when Kristy falls in love with Lucky unbeknownst to her who is the son of her rapist. This book draws you in and doesn't let go until the very end. This author did an amazing job with the details of the events that takes place in this story. Like always her books her a must read!
I enjoyed this story. Didn’t like that it had SA of a minor but that’s what the author wanted to write about. I think that instead of the kidnapping scene, we could’ve used a scene where Lucky got the letter from his father finding out that Sarah was his little sister that would’ve been better for the storyline versus the kidnapping or keep the kidnapping and adding the lucky finding out through the letter. Overall, it was a good story. I would definitely recommend it to other people. I didn’t rate it five stars because it’s not something that I would read again. I would read other stories by the author.
This story touched on some serious issues and sad to say there still isn't much help out there. The way Christy had to take on such a heavy load at a very young age, helping her mom with her siblings while trying to protect them from being harmed by her racist, to say she held herself together while raising Sarah was an accomplishment. So sad Jonjon couldn't see the light and open up for help with all the trauma he went through and still dealt with. Happy everything worked out for them.
This was only the second book that I’ve read by Uniquely Lashay, and I really enjoyed it. The storyline kept me interested from beginning to end. It was well written, but it did have a few grammatical errors that did not take away from the story. Kristy was actually a strong woman who had so many adversities in her life, but she did not let that harden her heart. She and Lucky were absolutely great together. I’d definitely recommend reading this book.
This book was amazing! I was on the edge of my seat and didn't want to put it down the whole time I was reading it. My emotions were all over the place as I was reading. I was sad, mad, shocked and confused through this book. The author definitely did a great job writing this banger!
Wow, this was a good read. It took me on a journey that started off awful. It had its up and down with the brother, wished he would have chosen a different part but none the less I enjoyed Kristy and Lucky relationship. Glad he turned his life around and cut off his sorry daddy. Girl! Awesome read!
I was so hurt that Kristy mom got killed over something so stupid and all the lady had to do was just ask questions. Kristy turned out to be a good woman raising her daughter and it’s amazing how she met Lucky and they were connected in some way without them even knowing. I loved this story!
I must say 🔥 this book had me just flying through the pages!! I enjoyed this book that I started it yesterday evening around this time and I just finished this book TODAY. Unique Lashay girl you made this story very entertaining and "juicy". This book was very easy to read and a quick pick up paced story I'm sooo looking forward to reading your other books.
This story centered around the life of Kristy, her siblings and the aftermath of tragedy. The story moves quickly while touching on a few sensitive topics. The plot twist was a huge one and while it didn’t add any credibility to the ending, I realize it could happen. It could also be because I couldn’t connect with the characters with this style of storytelling.
I have no words. I stuck it out n finished the book. It was very predictable. I hardly ever give bad reviews n I'm sad just leaving this but I IV to be honest. I didn't like this at all. I skipped pages n still was able to follow the story line. She marries him ... I just... I'm stunned
So much going on in such a little time. Nothing was predictable from the beginning. However once it got to Peter having a brother I figured out who it was. Her little brother was a tragic familiar story. Children in foster care definitely need advocates and support. Those who are bad foster parents really need to be held accountable.
This was. Really good book. I like that the Arthur addressed a really difficult topic. I am a victim of child molestation and it still affects me to this day. There were a few grammatical errors in the book. However you were still able to follow the story.
This was a whirl wind so many twists and turns I’m happy kristy finally got her happily ever after she so deserves it but I was. Lil stunned who she ended up with a must read good from the beginning til the end
This is a 3 stars simply because the storyline was good; however, this book seemed rushed and predictable. The author clearly loves Kevin Gates since every song choice was the new Kevin Gates song and enjoys the word love. This was my 1st book by this author and I was underwhelmed.
This was a really great book. So many twist and turns. Kristy went through so much but overcame it all. I’m so happy she met lucky when she did. Great story overall! I was intrigued from beginning to end.
This story was absolutely amazing! The beginning was extremely heartbreaking! But our girl pushed through and became an amazing woman! Even though she has some hiccups like everybody else she didn’t let her past trauma hinder her from finding true love!
I loved this book from beginning to end. I’m just made about Jon Jon I wanted to know why his life ended up like that for being so young but over all it was great
Amazing book ! I loved the characters.. the story line had me from the start . I wasn’t sure how it was going to play out with Kristy & Lucky but I’m so glad it did !!
