Baggage
Mark Dornan is a divorced former Marine, now a test pilot at Armadillo Works in west Texas. Driving home one day, he is pulled over by Deputy Beryl Barker for speeding, but manages to make her giggle and has the brass to ask her out on a date, which she declines. He encounters her later that evening at a beer joint, where he's in a pool tournament, and this time, charms her into accepting at least coffee and pie at a local diner, where things start to turn sideways as Mark breaks up an attempted robbery. Beryl admits attraction, at least inwardly. But both are saddled with hard baggage by the cheating of Mark's ex-wife Rhonda, and by terrible scars Beryl wears after an ambush in which she was shot in the belly, wrecking her uterus. Despite it all, each decides to gamble on the other. But there are all kinds of fresh twists and turns, not the least of which is a murderer in Montoya County who makes it his mission to murder Beryl and anyone else who gets in his way.

Drama, BDSM, Love
This is a story about a cop and an aircraft test pilot falling in love as they struggle through the dramas of the past and present, all while evading the scope of a vengeful gunman. I love the storyline and the style of writing, but what most impressed me was how Lucas X Black showed the readers what it is to desire a need for punishment, and the release it provides. If you like a well-written sub/dom story with substance, you’ll enjoy this one.

The cover and the blurb drew my attention. I was curious to know how the characters would handle not only their own "baggage", but each others. Mark is a test pilot and Beryl is a deputy in a small town. I really liked Beryl. She had a strength about her, but she also had vulnerability as well. I also liked Mark, especially his sense of humor. He also had baggage that affected his life.
Overall, I liked the storyline and felt there was enough action in the book. I thought the characters were well-developed. I felt some of the sentence structure, in particular, during the dialogue, needed editing. I do like Lucas X. Black's story telling so I plan to read more of his books.

Omg! I LOVED THIS!!
Mr. Black’s characters are just so real, and you can tell he loves his job. LoL
He’s a brilliant storyteller, and I’m so glad I stumbled upon this author. Just keeps getting better and better!!
Everyone has “Baggage”, some more than others but does that prevent you from finding the right one and falling in love?
Beryl is a small town deputy with a tragic past and a lonely future. Her “Baggage” is overwhelming her. It has made her a solitary creature afraid to try love. I adored Beryl in this book. She’s my kind of people. Kind and caring. Beautiful but self conscious of her scars ~ I can totally relate, well the scars thing, NOT the beautiful part!! LOL
Then she meets a funny, attractive, smart aleck of a guy who was speeding right past her. Will she take a chance on him or will she let him fly on by?
Mark is a test pilot and flies fast and hard testing out gadgets and doohickey’s. He has his own past that’s severely damaged him in another way and he’s held onto his “Baggage” for so long. Will he let it go and go after his own happiness? Or will he let happiness fly on by?
You must read this newest book from this amazing author.

Mark couldn’t believe he got pulled over but something about the cop B Barker drew him in. He invited her lunch, even though she declined he still went hoping she might show, surprising himself how drawn in he was after the nasty divorce he’d been through.
Beryl though about the charmer that she pulled over, but then remembered her baggage from the accident from years ago and he wouldn’t be interested in her anyway.
Mark knows that Beryl is beautiful, but so was his ex, she was poison but everything he learns about Beryl he knows she’s different and not his ex.
Meeting again after a series of event Beryl ends up at Marks and they both realise they have more in common than they knew. Not only do they have to work through their own baggage but the other unexpected things thrown at them.

Mark Dornan meets Deputy Beryl Barker when she pulls him over for speeding and asks to see his pilot’s license, well the trick is on Beryl because Mark just happens to be a pilot and dutifuly hands over the license, which begins their relationship.
I have to say, Lucas Black tells his stories in a way that the reader gets a bit more comfy in their chair, adjusts their pillow and sits back while you take in the story Lucas is telling you.
Always lots of action, and we know there will be some very hot BDSM sex in his stories and at the end you think, wow, what a great story, such wonderful characters and what a great book. His humor is right on the mark, you feel like your in the small town with these folks and I’m pretty sure I went to the same diner several times and had different pie at each visit. Amazing Lucas, I felt like one of the folks! Well done!

Pack your bags...it's a bumpy ride to happily ever after
This is the second book that I have read from Lucas Black and I have to say he draws you into his world with genuine heart and humor. Yes the storylines do have some pretty heavy, passionate, kinky scenes included however, the real meat of the story...the nitty gritty of it all I feel just makes those scenes icing on the cake.
In Baggage we meet Beryl a Sheriff's Deputy who is charmed by the dashing test pilot Mark. They both have their share of past issues in tow...baggage if you will... that follow them into this new budding relationship....some more troublesome than you would ever want lol. I highly recommend you read it and enjoy the twists and turns as I did.

Incredible!!
Once again Mr. Black has blown me away. This is such an amazing and wonderful tale. Mark and Beryl have both had terrible things happen to them. But they have become these awesome people because of it. Now add in a killer on the loose who’s after Beryl and the story takes a disturbing turn. I literally couldn’t put it down. It’s captivates you from the start. I loved all the banter between the characters, all of them were awesome. I truly loved this book and it’s an absolute must read !!

What a trip
There is so much going on in this book. Baggage on another level. This is the second book I have read by Lucas Black and he has done a stupendous job keeping my attention. His characters draw you in and they are so real. You can relate and feel their pain, their joys, their fears. This story was oh so amazing. I enjoyed the journey I went on with Beryl and Mark. I love all the dialogue and I love all the bits if humor without. You did a stupendous job of keeping my attention and delivering such a great story.

Lucas Black : Baggage a definite must read!
Lucas Black started off this story with a bang and it didn't slow down from the time Beryl met Mark it was up and going heavy. They quickly found the one thing they needed from each other.. Lucas Black is a phenomenal Author check him out .

Mark and Beryl have gone through a lot in their lives before finding each other, not sure if love is in their cards. The comedic banter between the two will have you laughing throughout the book. Lucas, you have created yet another brilliant world in this book; love, laughter, and bad guys... Thank You!!

Steamy and suspenseful
This was my first book to read by this author.
It had your suspense, and of course the steamy sex about melted my kindle.
It was a page turner, I literally just kept going till I was done.
I highly recommend it, you will not be disappointed.
Looking forward to my next book of Mr. Blacks.

Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit! This was such an amazing read. Lucas blew this one out of the sky. A great story that brought the smexy and the heat and the some. I couldn’t stop laughing and definitely saw Lucas’s sense of humour woven all the way through. Definitely earned the five stars.

Wow! This book is absolutely amazing! It had me from the first meeting between Beryl and Mark. That scene had heat, but was so funny. Their second meeting sets their passion simmering. It just got better from there! I loved Mark's parents. This was such a brilliantly conceived and written story.

It started with Mark speeding and getting caught by Beryl. Who.knew that the traffic stop would flourish into romance. So many.twists and turns, butt paddling and the like it would be forever. Loved the story!
