You know that whole adage about how things happen for a reason, well sometimes the reason is that you are stupid and you make bad choices.
That's me, Lacey Wentworth I'm stupid and I make bad choices. Now I'm broke, newly divorced (from a scumbag), and moving to Backridge, Kentucky. My only living relative that I can stand is Aunt Dell, and she has graciously offered me a room in her single wide trailer.
I thought going from heiress to penniless was the worst thing that would happen, turns out I was wrong again.Backridge isn't quite the quiet peaceful place I thought it was. With constant chaos going on since I stepped out of my car, my Aunt's three sexy neighbors who might or might not want a piece of me, a creepy stalker and a psychotic ferret its been one hell of a bumpy ride.
But sometimes the bumpiest rides take you exactly where you needed to be all along.
This was so funny and enjoyable! I really love the guys goofy mishaps and bumbling with Lacey. And don’t get me started on Bob the psycho!! Must read! Plus lots of mm if that’s your thing!
I started reading this book because I grew up in Kentucky so I was intrigued about a book taking place there. There is a lot of the sweet nostalgia that I love about KY. There is lots of steam including a lot of MM, and it is very hot. The characters are are like able and engaging. Bobby Lee is my favorite with his tattoos but sweet heart. 😍 Lacey moves in with her aunt after her husband cheated with her best friend and stole all of her money. With no other options and being broke, she returns to the place she spent summers growing up. The guys are her aunts neighbors in the trailer park. Lacey is trying to get her life back together. There is another subplot of a stalker that has more involvement then anticipated. There are a lot of funny clumsy scenes, and there is a ferret. 😂
There are errors with punctuation, typos and misspellings that are a little distracting to me, but I do think it has potential and that there is enough of the good to enjoy the storyline. It’s a quick, sweet/ mostly light hearted (minus the crazy stalker) steamy read with a bit of mystery. Lacey really has some crazy thoughts and often made me laugh. No cliffhanger per se...Lacey’s story is wrapped up and it seems they may still appear in future books based on the little nugget of news at the end. The next book will be about Stacey, the bartender though. Multiple POVs. High steam. MM. possible trigger for stalking.
@novembersweets_sweetreads99 has been a fav author of mine since the Grimm brother series. Then she totally made me fan club president with the Seduction house duet.
The backridge series has been on my TBR but yesterday November gave it for free on KU for Christmas so I snagged it!
Ummm loved it. It’s a good storyline. A good amount of spice.
The men are hot I love the “country” aspect of it because you don’t see that much in romance unless it’s western lol.
Also BOB is my spirit animal! I have a soft spot for noodle rats do to add that in there just was icing on that cake!
Also I’m so confused on how I want Jamie to kinda have his own book with a HEA lol how did this happen😂
I automatically downloaded book 2 and I’m excited to start it maybe tomorrow!
I would have liked this story but after about 30% through the book it became a game to count how many times words were capitilzed and shouldn't be or words were supposed to be capitalized and weren't. Words like at the beginning of the sentence. I lost count at around 200 words that were wrong. I would be willing to re-read and edit review if ever revamped, however this just had way too many errors for me to enjoy. It really needed a good round or two of proof reading before it was posted. It's sad because I read and loved other books by this author that didnt have these issues. Good author. Awful proofreading.
I am a bit disappointed in this book as the beginning was really funny with a few laugh out loud moments. Unfortunately about a third into this book that all changed, the humour disappeared and the writing became really basic and frankly quite boring. I did manage to finish it but it was quite predictable. The characters were lacking any sort of depth, the storyline was a bit uninspiring and the writing honestly was not really good enough ( definitely sub standard to most of the authors I have read recently). It would get 2 * as I finished it but I pulled it up to 3* purely because of the start. I won’t be reading the next in the series.
Between the abundant typos, rampant comma abuse and the idiotic choices made by all the main characters, this book isn’t one I would recommend to anyone looking for something good to read. However, I will say that it absolutely kept me entertained to the end, making me laugh in a few places. And that counts for something! Not anything significant enough to get me to try any future books in the series, but still something.
It hot and it will make you laugh. If you have read Rozie Marshall and enjoyed the relationships that develop between MM and MF characters you will love this book. I liked that Lacey, though a poor little rich girl, is down to earth and funny. She is not one of those snotty, obnoxious females that you may have a hard time trusting to. I even looked crazy Bob. Will definitely be reading about Stacey's sexcapades.
This was a super fun read. I devoured it pretty much in one sitting. Definitely Insta love, but I bought it hook, line and sinker. I really loved all the characters and found myself laughing out loud a lot. They were so relatable. And Bob the psychotic ferret is gold 🤣🤣🤣. Multiple POV, lots of spice with yummy MM, stalker story might be triggering
I absolutely loved this book!!! It grabbed you from the very beginning. The FMC Lacey goes through a lot and has to move back home to this small backwoods country town and live with her Aunt. It is funny, suspenseful, intriguing, and steamy. This book will have you feel all kinds of emotions in the best of ways. Highly recommend this book.
This book felt rushed and not really put together at all. Also as a writer the author could have a bit more creativity in names. Main character is Lacey, best friend is Stacey and another girl that keeps popping up is named Tracey. I won’t be finishing this series at all. I hate leaving books unread which is the only reason I finished this.
It might be okay book but I didn't understand all the characters . I did like aunts and the pet but it just was different maybe it just ,I didn't understand the guys relationship , but is was a decent book.
This book had quite a bit of hot romance, especially m/m. The stalker angle added another layer to the story. I was a little sad it ended where it did but there is suppose to be a book two.
This book was a fun read. Omg this poor girl has the worst luck. It has suspense drama steam and snark. I love the character chemistry. I really wanted more to happen to her ex. Oh well. It was still a great read.
This one is like a balance between cinnamon sweet and snarky. Characters are adorable and felt like some of the story is a bit extra for my tastes but entertaining... very entertaining.
