Stealing Summer

Slate Williams wears cocky well.

He holds the record for the most touchdowns in football league history, and his rugged good looks and outspoken views make him a favorite topic of conversation on entertainment news. I’ve been watching him sprint across my television screen season after season for as long as I can remember.

And then one vicious tackle leaves this arrogant NFL star with a permanent shoulder injury and a bruised ego bigger than the colosseum.

Now? Slate Williams is my problem.

This was a pretty fast pace novella and some steam.

Slate has had a rough start injured and grumpy and even grumpy to the cleaner who was doing her job. But Summer just gives back she has a job to do and she won't let mister grumps alot ruin her job. But that doesnt stop him from wanting to know her. They do clash a few times when she speaks out about him and his injury and pills.. now their relationship is slowly forming and both are ready to live.. even if it takes Summer alittle more pushing.

No ow/om drama, no cheating, sexy times, no virgins or manwhore

I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.

Summer hasn’t had the picture perfect life, her mum dies when she was five and she was raised by her father, but after years of construction work that took its toll on his body he became addicted to painkillers until she lost him to a heroin overdose when she was twenty two. Thinking she had met the love of her life when she met Bobby, she had never felt so safe and loved for it turn in to a mirage when he became abusive a year into the marriage. Haunted by loss when he drowns she moves away to be alone enrolling in college classes and becoming a cleaner. The day that she meets Slate Williams, she immediately knows who he is after all her father left her with a love if the NFL but he wasn’t expecting to fall straight into his arms. She tries to fight how right it felt to be in his arms but after her past can she trust in what she is feeling or is she just setting herself up for more heartbreak?

Slate Williams has it all, his career is one that dreams are made of with three championship rings already under his belt, he was hoping for many more but after an injury to his arm his coach and his agent think he needs some time away and a little respite. Renting a secluded property with a private beachfront he isn’t expecting to find a woman cleaning on his deck nor was he expecting to catch her in his arms where she belongs. Can Slate steal Summer’s heart like she has stolen his?

This was a fab read but I expect nothing less from this duo, it’s a fast sweet story of a love that heals and burns for each other. Highly recommended read although it mentions situations that could be a trigger for some readers. 4.3* Read.

Slate’s injury has put him out of the sport that he loves and everything that he live for. What he didn’t know was that injury lead him to his future and now he has something else completely different to live for.

-safe read
-both celibate
-no om/ow drama
-epilogue 2 years and 10 years

I’m pretty picky about sports romances. Like rockstars, the genre tends to feature arrogant men who have had a drastically disproportionate experience with intimacy than their heroines. But you know when you’re reading this author duo that you won’t find that problem here.

In this story Slate has a lot to work through, and none of it left me with an icky feeling in my stomach.even better Summer was a woman who had lived a little bit of life before meeting Slate, so she was strong enough to ensure he earned her affection while also experienced enough to recognize that what they were building was special.

This book was a pleasure to read, and I absolutely loved the way they discovered their own healing as they loved and healed one another.

Stealing Summer gave me so many feels. Sweet attraction when they meet. Giddy anticipation as Slate waits for Summer to come into work. Passionate contentment as they vow their love and plan a future together. The epilogue was so vivid, it sparkled like beach sand in the sun. I loved how Slate spoke to Summer, so much emotion in his words. Summer's desire for Slade as a man and how he made her feel was just beautiful. Lovely and sweet, Ms Cole and Ms Crawford wrote exactly the type of story I need these days. 5 stars for Summer and Slade!

A heartwarming book about second chances and love. Slate is a football player who gets hurt. Now Summer has to deal with him. Both characters are broken and down on their luck. Slate just may be what Summer needs and Summer may be just what Slate needs. The two help each other heal while finding love in the process. Good book with good characters.

With time......

This book is about so much more than happily ever afters and love at first. Slate goes to a beach house to recover from a football injury and to have peace and quite. Summer is working as a housekeeper and knows who he is right away. But after years of heartbeat and sorrow, Summer just want to keep to herself. As these spend time together, they realize that their what each other needs to heal properly. Of course, there is plenty of steam.

Short and Sweet

Slate and Summer meet when he is renting a beach house while recovering from a sports injury. She's there to clean the house and they literally bump into each other. The book was very short but well written. There were a few inconsistencies but overall all it was good.

Gotta love an OTT alpha who persue's his girl from the get go. This novella packs the insta-love punch hard. Summer has a tragic back story and Slate, a professional football quarterback has just blown out his arm. They are both still healing, realizing fast they need each other. Slate is a bit much for me but Summer falls head over heels for the forever he's offering.

A quick sweet read.

A quick sweet romance read! Slate and Summer’s story was cute with all the sweetness and heat level that made for an easy story. Not a whole lot of drama, some emotional distress but over all a good and steamy storyline that doesn’t disappoint.

Sweet and sassy Little Miss Clean was his undoing and his angel

Stealing Summer is a delightfully entertaining book. it is the story of Summer and Slate Williams and a beach house.
Slate is thirty-five years old and has been a professional football player the the Blue Devils or Tomcats (not sure as this is a detail inconsistency) for the last thirteen years. He has had a great career as a quarterback so far having won three championship rings. But he has blown his arm out and is working towards getting back as he had planned on playing for another decade or so, and getting some more rings. His coach has told him to take some time off and his agent told him to go away. So he has rented a secluded beach front home with a private beach and no one around for a couple of weeks. That is until early one morning about a week in he rounds the deck after taking an outside shower to find a woman cleaning. When she spins around to face him she catches her toe and literally falls into his arms, a good metaphor for the future it seems. It turns out to be a cleaner with the property rental company. He many not want her there but she has a job to do and needs to do it.
Summer is twenty-eight years old and has gone through more than a few traumas in her life. He mother died when she was five years old so she was raised by her father who gave her his love of football, living for Friday Night Lights and Sundays together. But after a lifetime of working construction his body was in a lot of pain and he ended up getting addicted to pain meds. When his doctor retired and his new doctor would not prescribe him any more he turned to heroine and died when she was twenty-two. She survived just barely keeping her head above water for a few years until she met Bobby. He wooed her, taking care of her and making her feel safe, happy and loved. They married six months later but then he changed and became physically abusive. A year later he was drunk on the family yacht and decided to take a swim, drowning. His rich parents blamed her so she left and moved to the beach to heal. Since then she got a job as a house cleaner and is taking classes at the college. When she sees Slate she knows right away who he is but yet does not fawn all over him, even though she trips and lands in his arms, more than once that day.
Slate and Summer are both loners but for different reasons. However as the weeks pass they interact more and it turns out that they are able to heal each other. When they come together it is physical, explosive and hot as heck! But it is also sensual and loving while Slate shows Summer that he can take care of her.

I really loved this story as it was a wonderful journey for both Slate and Summer to their very funny and charming HEA. But I did find that the number of inconsistencies in the story was annoying. Otherwise it is a well written book with a couple loveable characters in Slate and Summer.

This was a great story. It was entertaining and enjoyable although it does make references to prior spousal abuse as well as drug addiction. The characters were relatable. Slate was an alpha male without being an alphahole which was nice. Summer has had to deal with some pretty major stuff and it still impacts her life now. They seem to be an unlikely match, but when Summer and Slate meet there are definitely some fireworks. Slate's injury (and pain med prescription) does cause some anxiety on Summer's part. Slate was observant when it came to Summer and he pushed her to really live. I loved their happy ever after and I recommend reading this book.

Another amazing adventure by this fabulous duo! Everything they write is an automatic must-read; I've never been disappointed by any of their stories. While this book has the trademark steamy encounters and amusing incidents we expect from Mila and Aria, the story also has a lot of heart. Both Slate and Summer have darkness in their backgrounds, a common bond that helps unite them. Meeting when they are at a low point, Summer rescues Slate and Slate rescues her right back. It's beautiful how these two somewhat broken people complete each other, their ragged edges fitting together. A lovely, heartwarming story, with spice in all the right spots!

Another smashing hit by this dynamic duo!! Entertaining and fun read with little to-no drama. Hints of prior abuse and addiction but nothing that would trigger. An unlikely matching, Slate is a NFL star with a shoulder injury and Summer is contracted to clean his beach rental. They bond over football and shared traumas. Will they find their HEA in each other when they come from very different socioeconomic statuses?

Mila Crawford and Aria Cole did a good job on Stealing Summer. The story was written well with a strong plot that was filled with many feelings. Slate and Summer were strong characters that haven't had the easiest life, their journey has had many ups and downs. The pull was strong between them, they were good together. I enjoyed their story.
This was a good story. Thanks, Mila Crawford and Aria Cole. Good work :)
