Evie Brooks is trapped in a relationship she can’t seem to escape.
Her secrets go beyond the black eyes and the breaking heart. She’s dropped out of college, forced to quit her job and avoiding the questions her friends and family so desperately want answers to. And then her childhood crush shows up in town. Rugged, and not so innocent anymore, she’s reminded of that boy from her past and realizes he’s not the same. There’s a newfound darkness about him she can’t place.

Grayson Gomez is hiding more than his unexpected return home. Trained to fight for his country, he has to battle harder to hide his despair when he finds the girl he left behind in the arms of another. With his world crashing around him, he’s holding on to a memory of the girl he used to know. As he questions what’s really going on with Evie’s boyfriend, Grayson makes a horrifying discovery. When her life is threatened, and his past catches up with him, Grayson will stop at nothing to protect her. Even if it means putting his own life on the line for her.

4.5 Grayson loving Stars!!!

Wow! This book surpassed all of my thoughts!! I love all the books Shey has written and her Racing on the Edge series with the Riley clan is still one of my favorite series I have ever read!! Needless to say, I had some expectations for this book!

Grayson Gomez is Aiden's (from ROTE series) cousin! This had nothing to do with the ROTE series and actually had a great great storyline!! Evie was a great strong willed amazing heroine!! :) She stuck to her guns and the friendships in this book were great too!! Don't worry gals, Jameson makes a small cameo, and of course, he is still swoon worthy!! :) :)

This book dealt with military background as well as some intense scenes!! I had so many conflicting feelings and I had to have a box of tissues in the last 20% of the book! I was a little sad at how quickly it wrapped up, but still think it wrapped up everything well!

Great job Shey!! I am so happy you are continuing to write, and write your stories like you always have! :)

*** I don't want to ruin anything, but I feel like people need to know that there is rape in this book. So if you are not good with that subject this book might not be for you. It also deals with the time of 9/11 and the military troops being shipped out over seas.

I honestly don't even know what to think of this book. I think I probably liked all the side characters more than the main ones. There were rapes that I hadn't expected to read... So there's that.... There were a lot of grammatical errors that started to get distracting towards the end of the book. Also, at the end of the book, I started skimming.. it was a long book, and I feel like I could have gone my whole life without reading it.

Also, don't let my lack luster review fool you... this book was traumatic AF for no reason. Don't let TikTok fool you into thinking it's a cute second chance romance... it's not it's horrifying tbh

This book brought out so many emotions for me. I'm a domestic abuse survivor with PTSD. The stuff Evie went through was some of what I did. The PTSD Grayson deals with is some I do. My heart hurt for them. I cried so much through this book. It was hard to read but I powered through it because I had to know what happened. I had to know what was meant to be... Well would be. Grayson and Evie are meant to be from the day they met at age like 4. Their love is a big scary love when they are young and that's why Grayson signs up for the military. I'm so glad things work out in the end. Definitely not without so so much hurt and drama. They persevere and stay strong though. They rebuild their lives after Evie's abuser tries to take it all away. Thank you Shey for rewriting this book and making it even more amazing.

I should've read more reviews on this book...or at least the front part of the book warning of rape. I can normally read angst or dark subject matter but this book just pissed me off. I understand the need for some tragedy but seriously...these characters were put through the ringer time and time again. Spoiler alert: The heroine wasn't just raped, she was gang raped while her badass war hero was forced to watch. At least the author could have made him get free, save his girl, and kick those guys' asses. Seriously I wished I had a better warning. I'm sure most people who pick up this book aren't looking for such dark subject matter so here's the warning I wish I had.

When I say this book made me ugly cry and then later on spit out my water laughing I’m not even kidding. I mean it has huge triggers, so definitely be warned if that’s a concern for you, but it was honestly really well done. The h and H both had such a struggle and I’m glad that there was a brutally honest approach to their recovery. Even with the epilogue showing them still dealing with their trauma years later.

Heart breaking

***WARNING*** this book has triggers!!
In saying that, this book will break you in so many ways.
Evie and Grayson were meant to be. This book had a HEA but getting there was some ugly snot running crying.
If you have no triggers then I recommend this book.

i think this is the worst book i have read in recent history to the point where i don't think the author knows how the english language works or how to access a dictionary.

it all began when she called the center console of a car "the center counsel" and then said someone "crooked" instead of croaked. or when she said 'hypercritical" instead of hypocritical, like my dude have you heard of google??

this can't even be redeemed by the characters because they were all godawful idiotic people. homegirl gets abused on the reg by her boyfriend and her supposed best friend is aware and doesn't give two fucks AND continues to put her in awful situations yet we're supposed to be happy that the best friend is in a happy healthy relationship with the fmcs brother? get real lol

the dialogue was trash. the story was trash. the writing was trash.

and apparently the author plagiarized this? she's so awful at writing she couldn't even come up with this literal dumpster fire herself?

I love a best friends to lovers story. This one was different from all the others though, with the danger of an abusive man, and the reality of what it is to work through trauma.

I felt this started off on the weaker side; after getting drunk, Evie and her childhood best friend Grayson stumble into the bedroom and sleep together. They’ve messed around before but have never gone all the way. Grayson was a virgin, and it isn’t until a little later that you really grasp how much Evie loves him. Then, two weeks after sleeping together, Grayson goes off to serve his country. He left behind a short note for Evie, asking her forgiveness. He doesn’t return until 3 years later.

I see where there couldn’t have been too strong a commitment to each other, or Evie wouldn’t have been with her off and on again boyfriend Shane, and in the predicament she was in when Grayson finally returns to town. Even though Evie was it for Grayson, he didn’t want her to choose him simply because it’s what was expected of her. That’s the reason he gives for going away, and although his heart was in the right place, I thought it kind of weak.

Shane is abusive, threatening, hitting, and even raping Evie. He threatens those that are important to her and she feels stuck with him. She hides this from all her friends, always choosing the boyfriend in the end to keep every one safe, everyone except her. Being a stubborn, outspoken woman, Grayson can’t figure out why Evie was even with Shane in the first place. But he doesn’t realize what leaving her did to her.

It all comes to a head and Evie finally leaves Shane, but the consequences are seriously life threatening and will change Evie and Grayson’s lives forever.

This wasn’t a hero gets the heroine and they live happily ever after story. There are things they must work through, both physically and emotionally, to get to a place where they have more happy than sad/angry days. I feel this was a realistic view on violent relationships and the shit a couple has to work through to stay together.

Don’t let that deter you though. This wasn’t 600+ pages and I devoured it in less than 24 hours. Evie and Grayson deserve the happiness they were destined for since they were four years old.

Heartbreakingly beautiful!!!

I read this story before! But this new version is absolutely heartbreakingly beautiful! Shey did an amazing job bringing this story to pages. I couldn't put it down! although the tape scenes were hard to read and the attack of Grayson and Evie, it was an amazing read!

Book Hangover

All I Have Left

10 stars!!!!! Book Hanover for sure and an absolute must read. This book will have you on a roller coaster of emotions from ugly crying to laughing and every where in between. Grayson and Evie have a story of childhood best friends who find forever love. There have been obstacles that have prevented them from being together. No one would ever imagine though an ex might be one of them in the end. Trigger warning as abuse is in this book.

Oh my gosh my heart! This book broke me, broke my heart and then stitched me back together again. And the ending! Absolutely amazing. There is a tragic event in this story that really spoke to me and hit close to home and the author dealt with this in such a sensitive way and clearly researched TBI. A simply stunning read.

„All I Have Left” is a new/old book written by Shey Stahl. This story was published in 2014, but Shey Stahl've wanted to re-write story of Grayson and Evie.
I didn't read the old version of this story, but this new one is pretty good and so much emotional!

Evie and Grayson were friends since forever. He was her first in everything and they are in silent love. Why silent? Because they loved each other, but they didn't say about this feeling.
One day Grayson left home. He joined to the army without saying a word to Evie. She was broken without him, but day by day she back to normal life. She meets Shane Larson and she was „happy”.
Everything change when Grayson finally back home.

As in every book written by Shey Stahl we have here a hidden double bottom. We have to young people and their love, but also we have a home abuse. This story made me sad, happy, angry and totally tired of all these emotions.
I lived with Evie and Grayson. I lived with their story so much! I felt everything what they done in my heart!

„All I Have Left” is a fantastic story with awesome heroes, which Shey Stahl brings to life. Evie and Grayson's story is a perfect book with lovely ending. You will love this story!

Where do I start

First, there were so many typos it was difficult to follow along. I had to reread entire paragraphs to figure out what one sentence was supposed to say.
Second, Evie pissed me off. I get the battered woman mentality, but for it to play out over and over and over again in a romance novel gets old quick.
Third, after the attack not one person worried about Evie. She was raped for crying out loud. But not one person checked in with her. Sure Grayson thinks about it, but he just acts like an ass. He makes her tell him about the rape, and instead of being devastated and holding her and realizing he was a selfish asshole. He was cruel. Not once does she act like she went through a trauma, other than what happened to Grayson. No one else does either.
Fourth, Ethan. He’s a shit brother. In the hospital after the attack...yeah, no. She shoulda kicked him in the balls. He was closer with Grayson than Evie. Didn’t like that.

There were good parts. Sweet moments between the two of them. Frankie was awesome. I liked Josh too. Wyatt was the best!

Won’t be reading anything else from her.

Whoa. This book was sort of tough to read but I couldn’t put it down. Evie and Grayson are best friends. Have been since they were little. But as they grow older, things change a bit and as they make the decision to go further one night, but, Grayson, him knowing he was leaving for the military. Fast forward, it’s been years since they’ve seen each other.

This story was absolutely heart wrenching. It was a little tough to read Bc it dealt with abuse. It’s definitely emotional, but you see how much these two have overcome and have finally found home with each other. Only to have to deal with the worst of the worst, in Evie’s exboyfriend. No matter what though, they both love each other so much, it just takes a while for them to get to their deserved happy ever after.

If you want to read a real story with heartbreaking and uplifting moments, with characters that go through some very hard times and experience many twists of fate like anyone else, this book is definitely for you.
I enjoyed it more than expected, with all the triggers and ups and downs of a great book, all the darker moments and angsty scenes, all the beautiful things that can bring childhood friends back together after some hard years of trying to find themselves.

Once I started I couldn’t put the book down. An emotional rollercoaster that makes you feel all the feels. Shey Stahl is such a gifted author who is able to create characters that are so real that you feel like you know them.

Everybody wants to be loved the way Grayson & Evie love each other.

You won’t be disappointed... a must read!

I'm sorry to say this novel was a huge disappointment. It wasn't terrible but I certainly expected more from this author. The storyline seemed promising but I just wasn't able to connect and it fell into the did not finish category.
