My review :

Will their duty to their clan be the end of their romance ...

With this first read by Mrs Markland, I learned a lot about the navigation during this early period. Her notes at the end of the books are very informative.
Teagan and Marshal had an instant chemistry, one look and they fell hard for the other but both are in for a deception as he has come to ask for her hand in the name of his brother, when she hopes he will choose her.
They are cute characters but I felt like something was missing, like they spend very few time together, as outside their first encounter, there is their short journey to meet her betrothed then an afternoon teaching her the basics of sailing and maybe an other meeting but can’t recall it.
So not really something to build on a love to defy everyone.
To me, outside the moments when they muse about one another from afar, it is a family tale. The seven brothers of Teagan are all different and fun and each has his time to shine or not.
When Marshal’s history is much more twisted, from the secret able to disrupt everything, his brother so opposite to him and his aging aunt not always touching earth, they are an advertising for recomposed families and how difficult it is to blend in.
An entertaining tale with a great bunch of overwhelming siblings having in their heart to protect their one and only sister, what ever the consequences. I would have just liked a bit more time spent together for Teagan and Marshal than in the actual story to see their feelings deepening outside the classic love/lust at first sight because they are kind and caring characters and more times together would have enhanced how well they were suited.

3.75 rounded up to 4 stars.

I was granted an advance copy by the publisher Dragonblade Publishing, here is my true and unbiased opinion.

Wonderful

Having to accept a laird that you have no interest in and can barely stand has to be horrible. It seems so bariatric to subject someone you are supposed to love to a lifetime of unhappiness just to end a feud.

Would fate step in and bring the two together?
Two warring clans situated close together, make their living with the sea. Each could use what the other has and so Marshall, younger brother to the Clan MacCray takes matters in his own hands to bring the two together.
The solution? Have his older brother marry the sister with seven brothers of Clan Robson. But when he sees the lass, he realizes it is the lady he has been catching glimpses of and they have an attraction.
I adored this story and as Anna Markland always does, the history and characters come alive!
Loved this addition to this wonderful series and cannot wait to read more!

Series: Clash of the Tartans, Book #6

Publisher: Dragonblade

Overall Rating: 5/5 Stars

Scotland 1732
Enemy clans Robson and MacCray are neighbors that hate each other. They have been enemies for hundreds of years due to some battle many centuries ago. Both clans make their homes on a cliff top in
Caithness, Scotland, but it is the MacCray clan who has access to the only port in the area. As clan Robson has always been denied entrance which they need for their shipping business.

Now younger brother Marshall Robson comes up with the idea for a marriage alliance with his eldest brother who is Laird of clan Robson to the MacCray’s only sister. As the MacCray’s are seven brothers that have only one sister. Except this brother is a smelly good for nothing drunkard. who doesn’t even care about his own clan! It is Marshall who keeps his kinsmen fed, clothed and coin coming in from with their profitable shipping business ventures.

Now when Marshall discovers it is the beauty he has been watching as he suspected. When Marshall and Teagan meet the heavens open as she is the woman he had been watching and love enters. The problem is the marriage alliance evenTeagan will to sacrifice her Teagan will bring peace to the warring clans but it will also cause hearts to be broken, What will Marshall and Teagan do to make these difficult difficult sacrifices.

Again I got swept away from Anna Markland riveting, fast-paced, page turning, awe-inspiring, romantic adventure. It is filled with many with many surprises with unforgettable, multi-demensional characters, dialogue that brings readers to their knees, enchanting landscapes and paced out phenomenal plotting that is simply pure brilliance! A book historical romance readers will definitely find entertaining with so many twists and turns.

This is a book I highly recommend.

Kilts Ahoy! by Anna Markland is a Highlander romance, sixth book the Clash of the Tartans series. What could be better? Two clans living within sight of one another, earning their livings the same way: the sea. Clan MacCray holds all the cards: seven brothers, one sister; plenty of sea-going vessels; the prime docking place in the area. Clan Robson had the advantage in that they had larger vessels and traded as far away as Denmark. Sadly, they also had a slovenly and lazy laird. Elgin took a bath regularly: once a year whether he needed it or not. He was most likely drunk. Marshall, his younger brother realized something had to be done so he took himself off to Castle MacCray to negotiate a treaty. He would ask for docking rights closer to home in exchange for a marriage between his brother and their sister. That became an issue almost immediately as the lovely lass he had been watching from afar was the sister, Teagan, and he wanted her for himself. But, negotiate a treaty he did. Successfully.

Watching the struggle with his conscience as the story proceeds make Marshall a great character. He knows what is right and struggles. Teagan is the same. She is promised to the Robson laird and she will marry him, no matter how miserable that fact makes her. She is a woman of the world. She will manage. The sailing aspect of this novel was most intriguing...not necessarily the details, but the fact that they were able to sail so far in, what we would consider, small and fragile vessels, with essentially no navigational instruments. These boats came upon tragedy. They were difficult to dock and easy to lose. Their inclusion made the story very exciting. I recommend it.

I sympathized with Teagan being the only girl with 7 brothers.....I'm the only girl with 4 brothers and I remember well being teased and picked on by them! lol I very much enjoyed Teagan and Marshall's story, it's well written and you can't help but cheer them on.

Being from enemy clans, when Teagan and Marshall first meet, it's instant attraction but duty must come first and Marshall must convince Teagan to marry his brother, the Laird, to bring peace between the two clans. As he gets to know her, he hates the thought of her marrying his brother so he tries to come up with a plan. When he learns of a family secret, he knows he must do what is right but he also doesn't want to dishonor his mother's memory or hurt his brother.

I loved how Teagan was allowed to learn how to sail and even though she tired of her brothers' teasing, she also knows that they will do everything to protect her. Her dog BO had me smiling throughout the story:) She and Marshall are so in love, it's a beautiful thing to see!

I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

I've read most of the books in this series and this is a stand alone. This is one of my favorites by this author.

The Laird is a drunk and his brother (our H) really runs the Clan. He is kind, thoughtful and loyal and comes up with a solution to help the clan after a tragedy happens. Once his plan is accepted he realizes a mistake, because he is smitten with the h. His brother is totally opposite and baths once a year, so you can imagine the h's shock when she sees him - she isn't happy with the plan the H came up with and that is putting it mildly.

The h is the only girl and has 7 protective brother's. I enjoyed how the brother's interacted with her and each other. There is instant attraction with the H/h, but they don't act on it. Romance builds at a nice pace. There is some physical action when they handfast, but the act is completed within marriage. Heat level 5 out of 5 and described 2-3 times.

Some moments of suspense and a major twist I didn't see coming but appreciated. I enjoyed the epilogue that was 6 years in the future - nice added touch.

No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, romance and spice. (ljb)

Teagan McCray is a bit fed up and frustrated about being the only girl in a family of 7 brothers, and with her parents both dead, no older female to confide in and turn to for advice. Struggling to be heard in a family of overbearing if loving brothers, she tries to satisfy her longing for adventure and the call of the sea by riding over the cliffs near her home every afternoon.

Marshall Robson is the younger son of the former Laird of Clan Robson, his older brother Elgin is Laird, but is also lazy, drunken and uncouth. The Robson are accomplished sailors, but their Birlins are disadvantaged by not having the best bay to set sail from. Marshall plans to negotiate rights to share the bay with the McCrays in return for arranging a match between Teagan and Elgin, however, he is drawn towards her for himself. He watches for her every day, and once he has made the deal, finds himself falling more in love with her every day.

Teagan is also deeply attracted to Marshall, and even when she finally meets the rude and uncouth Elgin, vows to honour her betrothal so she doesn't let Clan McCray down. How will Marshal and Teagan ever get to their HEA? When Marshall's absent minded Aunt lets slip a devastating family secret, is this the route to happiness for them both, or will it tear Clan Robson apart.

I quite liked this book, and both Marshall and Teagan were likeable characters, however i thought the way the brothers were written lacked consistency, one minute Beathan was dismissive and autocratic towards Teagan, the next he was concerned that she was marrying the wrong man. I also found Elgin a bit of a cipher, and didn't believe in the plot twist that united Marshall and Teagan in the end.

I voluntarily reviewed and Advance Reader Copy of this book and all opinions are my own.

Not only is Teagan MacCray the youngest in her family,  she's the only girl with seven older brothers.  With an enemy clan as the nearest neighbours, she doesn't get a lot of freedom.  The sea she looks out over every day calls to her.  Although her brothers are great mariners they never even think of allowing her to sail.

Marshall Robson tries his best to look after the Clan but his older brother is the Laird and a drunk.  It's time to do something drastic. Maybe a truce with the neighbours so that they can use the better harbour will help.

This historical Highland adventure/romance is great fun.  Nothing happened as I expected.  Every time I thought I could guess what was about to to happen I was wrong.  Both our lead characters want what's best for their respective Clans and that means putting their own desires away.  The sea is the most important thing to both Clans and it's a very dangerous thing to rely on.

This book is part of a series of stand alone stories.  Each one is better than the last.  I have loved all of them.

Great fun.

In a land of tempestuous people, clan feuds and enmity could last for centuries, the reasons being lost in the mists of time. The Robsons and MacCrays were within riding distance of each other's strongholds but had not ever spoken or collaborated, even when it would have been in their best interests. Marshall has been attracted to Teagan MacCray from afar for some time and discovers that when her life is in danger, he doesn't hesitate to go to her rescue even with her family members present. The romance between Marshall and Teagan is sweet and warm but speaks of forbidden love. One cannot help but love the main characters in this book as they struggle when some unexpected truths emerge. However, it is good to see how their brothers rise to the occasion when it is most required. The addition of Bo to this story enhanced the plot, bringing out the nature of the characters. I enjoyed this Highland romance and look forward to reading more by this author. I received a copy of this novel from NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Teagan MacCray rides the cliffs everyday and sees their enemy’s castle clan Robson and wonders if the feud will ever end.

Marshall Robson walks the battlements every morning to watch the chestnut haired woman on her morning rides. Wondering who she is and suspects that she is one of the MacCrays.

Being the second son Marshall sails into Port Wick to try and make a truce with the MacCrays and bargain for the use of their port. Proposing that his brother the Laird of clan Robson marry the sister to Clan MacCray, forming an alliance bet the two clans. When Marshall meets Teagan he knows how hard it’s going to be having her marry his brother. Teagan wanting to do her duty and stop the feud agrees to marry the Laird of the Robson’s not realizing that it’s not Marshall. This story will take you on a voyage of love, romance and duty. You will love Marshall and Teagan and this story!

Clan MacCray and Clan Robson are both seafaring clans and mortal enemies. Teagan MacCray dreams of a life of adventure on the high seas. Clan Robson’s Laird Elgin is planning to try and end the feud, and Marshall Robson comes up with a plan to marry his older brother to the Laird’s daughter. Marshall Robson has admired Teagan from afar, her beauty when she rides a horse across the mores has given him many a pleasant dreams of her, so when his brother mentions ending the feud between their families he proposed an alliance. What neither expects is the instant attraction and chemistry between Marshal and Teagan. A captivating story of two clans feuding and a love so strong it overcomes obstacles in the story with twist and turns to their happy ever after. I have voluntarily read and reviewed the excellent book.

I received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Marshall Robson has admired Teagan MacCray from afar, but her clan has been feuding with his for centuries. He has a chance to put an end to the feuding - by proposing marriage between Teagan and his brother, the laird of his clan.

I really liked the premise and things definitely started well, but I can't say this one captivated me. The hero and heroine didn't have much "screen time" together - Marshall was either brooding or tearing off to Norway - which meant that I didn't feel the love, so to speak. Marshall's brother wasn't really much of a roadblock either, so I never got the "will they/won't they" vibe. But that cover is pretty awesome.

Marshall and Teagan's story was a really great read. Two clans have been feuding for so far back No one can truly remember the real why anymore. Marshall's clan truly needs something to change and he has an idea.

Teagan realizes her Laird brother is definitely thinking of a betrothal for his sister. She is stubborn and she knows duty calls but ....

There is a saying "Be careful what you wish for"...it could happen.

A lovely story!!!

I like reading this story. I hope maybe for a spin off so we can have the brothers story or even Marshall's " reformed" brother's? An enjoyable read.
