control is a beautiful thing. In a darkened room, a black-gloved finger lifts the cover on the red switch. A few kilometers away, Angela LeTourneau struts down a sunny Parisian boulevard, arms swinging free like bird wings. Oh, to be alive again. Almost gone and then, a miracle. The million-dollars was a bargain, buying a new life, resurrection in a new body – a stronger, healthier, even voluptuous body. She is exhilarated by the morning chill in the air and the aroma of coffee wafting from the Café de Luna. The bright sunlight warms her face. Everything is alive. The breeze catches and lifts her long brown hair... but then a pain, a sharp pain like a knife to the temple. Something’s gone wrong. A bug in the software. Breathe. Breathe deeply as the doctor said. Was he a doctor? It will all be OK, right? Please. She remembered something the doctor told her. “In her you will live, move and have your being.” The gloved finger flips the red switch. Angela takes her last breath and collapses to the sidewalk. –from NOT SO DONE.

Wow what a story, impossible to put down. Sam is awesome at his job and gives us lots of action. Fast paced that kept me guessing, wondering what could happen next. Don’t miss out.

Not So Done continues the story begun in Not So Dead and Not So Gone. Despite this, it would definitely be possible read this book as a stand-alone, without any knowledge of what has happened previously.

It’s great to see the continued development of familiar characters and, indeed, Not So Done continues with the same themes and the same style that delight those who enjoyed the earlier books. As always, Charles Levin has done a great job of providing relatable characters, with real-life problems running alongside the main story. For example, the ‘bit parts’ played by dementia and marital strain.

Not So Done takes us on a fast-paced ride through some pretty scary terrain. There’s plenty of action to keep the pages turning with just the odd lull, which works well to ensure the background is understood and the book doesn’t lack substance. In fact, it’s in the unstated detail where Not So Done really stands out from others in the genre. A huge amount of research has clearly gone into the creation of this fictional world as it is based on very real, very possible technology (with the exception of one or two aspects that remain out of our reach…for now). This can be intriguing or terrifying, depending how you look at it.

Personally, I really enjoyed Not So Done as it continues with the theme of merging consciousness with technology and that’s a subject that fascinates me. By adding in plenty of other scientific advances, these Sam Sunbourn novels acquire a seductive sense of real-life possibility.

Overall, a fantastic read that didn’t, at any point, make me feel that turning the next page was a habit rather than a pleasure. If I have one criticism, it’s that I don’t think the biological aspects were as well researched as the technological ones. However, this is ultimately a work of fiction and the criticism only really serves to highlight how well the tech developments have been treated.

I’m really hoping that Not So Done is Not So Finished and I can look forward to more from Sam Sunbourn’s world.

Fast Paced Thriller Relevant to Current Events

Holy cow! Please keep your arms and legs inside the ride at all times. Get ready for a super fast pace thriller. The first two books were warm ups. Once the somewhat brief introduction to bring you up to speed begins, this book really takes off! This is the third book in the Sam Sunburn series. While it definitely helps to have read the first two books, there is enough of a recap for newcomers. Sam and Frank learn that an old nemesis has returned with a nefarious scheme. There is also another threat, so our heroes must fight on two fronts. Poor Sam also has to deal with martial troubles as well. I frankly wanted to shake some sense into Monica, I thought she was quite irrational at times. This story grabs you and doesn't let up. The tech is explained well and in an accessible way. The bodyjacking and pathogen scenarios are quite frightening. The author notes that nearly everything in the book is real with very little fiction. Links are provided at the end for the reader to check on their own. The audio book version is once again handled by the wonderful Daniel Greenberg. This story manages to remain topical of current events, yet still be realistically frightening. This would make a fantastic television show. A thrill a minute ride that is hard to put down!

Good suspenseful read. A hard one to put down, you want to know what happens next. Is this the end for Sam? Will he be able to help the DHS to solve the threat to the US? Several threats have hit the US and must be stopped before millions of people are killed. Who could be behind these threats? Could the Leopard have returned, but how is that possible? If so, could he be behind them all or could there be multiple enemies to the US? Can Sam, Frank and his friends at the DHS figure it out before it is too late? Although this book takes place in the future, if the technology described within the book would or could happen, what a scary place the world could become. This is book 3 of the Sam Sunborn series and can be read as a standalone book, but would recommend to start the series from the beginning with book 1. Recommend the entire series.

A barely science fiction thriller

I really liked this book for several reasons. The story was fast paced and deals with something the world may actually be dealing with now. A plague. Not just any plague but a manufactured plague created by terrorists. The crew from the first two books (full disclosure, I have only read book one and this one) are back fighting crime and saving the world. The main bad guy from the first book is back causing trouble and another bad guy is also causing trouble at the same time. This is bad enough but to add to his misery Sam has to worry about whether his wife is going to leave him since he is constantly putting himself and his family in danger. There is adult language and violence so it is definitely for adults. The story does end so there is no annoying cliffhanger. I thought this was a fast paced and entertaining story.

Book three in the Sam Sanborn series is just as action packed as books 1 & 2, not to mention contains more twists and turns than its predecessors. If I had to pick my favorite of the series to this point Not So Done would bet my vote – maybe because I was “intimately” familiar with all the characters and what they all seemed capable of accomplishing. However, there were a few instances where character exhibited new traits that took me by complete surprise. Once again, the technology from the story left me hoping that we never deploy anything like this in my lifetime. This review is based on listening to the Not So Dead Trilogy audiobook. Daniel Greenberg does an excellent job bringing the characters and story to life through his narration.

This is an exciting mad dash in a technological thriller. Body snatching for embedding an electronic personality, a pandemic, and technological race. Technology was used to create the problems, but it's being used as well as to take down the mad-men. It was exciting and well written. So much going on at the same time, that the author must have gone nuts to keep it all straight.

I listened to the audio version of the book. The narrator did a great job with this very well executed story. There is violence and language so I recommend this book for a mature reader.

Not so Dead

This is an outstanding counterterrorism story with a gimmick. It describes the capability to digitize a person and upload their personality and experience to the cloud. They can subsequently be downloaded into another body. Sam Sunburn and his old nemesis, the leopard, are reincarnated using this method. The characters are somewhat superficial, but the plot is exciting and full of suspense. Once you get started you will not be able to put the book down. I recommend this book, especially as it may be the last of Sam Sunburn.

This book is both chilling and thrilling! The terrorist aspects combined with the advanced technology kept me on the edge of my seat. My heart was definitely going a mile a minute.

Charles Levin knows how to capture your attention and keep you on your toes. This was a fantastic story and great addition to the Sam Sunborn series.

Daniel Greenberg’s performance was great. There were a couple of minor blips in the audio, but nothing that really took away from the experience.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

NOT SO DONE: A Sam Sunborn Novel (Sam Sunborn, #3), my third read from author Charles Levin. An enjoyable 330-page/9-hour 14-minute high-powered techno-thriller. ” I received a free Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more from this author. Next up, Still Not Dead: A Sam Sunborn Novel. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

A great ride! I was hooked from the beginning and it was hard to put down. I tend to 'put the book down' and think about what is going on - or just happened - to analyze my feelings about it and just think 'what if?'. With this one, the implications are quite frankly disturbing and staggering. I had to keep reading; I had to know more!

A great techno thriller with nonstop action, two terrorists plotting two different attacks. Body snatching and implanting deceased peoples memories that keep on growing. A pandemic of epic proportions. Wonderful and exciting story. I received a complimentary audio and this review is voluntary.

Hard boiled science fiction! Fascinating story, and very timely. Very relatable characters, interesting situation. I am not usually drawn to the tougher-talking or inherently violent characters, but this book, and even the harder characters, was quite compelling.

A good story

The action- and the killing- never stops, the plot keeps twisting. There are too many factual errors, too many wrong homonyms and a bit of prejudice for a fifth star

twists and turns

So many twists and turns you just keep wanting to find out what else is going to happen. I am not much of a futuristic or sci-fi reader but this was so good of a storyline. It’s not to out there. Must read

The third installment of the Sam Sunborn series does not disappoint. The team is faced with dual threats so the action is non-stop. Both Sam and his nemesis, the Leopard, from the first book have been “reborn” so to speak into the physical world. As in books 1 and 2 we are challenged to think about moral and ethical questions raised by current and possible future technologies. If you like techno-thrillers that move at breakneck speed, this series is for you.

Breathtaking Frightening Action

Wow! Talk about a book I could not put down this is it! A real nightmare of a criminal has stolen Franks technology and is killing people to use their bodies as soldiers when he rejuvenated them with the technology. If that is not enough his sister has commandeered a lab to create a virus worse than Covid-19 and it is aimed at children. She gets it delivered in a devious manner and many children start dying. Is there any hope? Read and be entertained!

Fantastic addition to the "Not So" series, Not So Done sees our heroes fighting dual enemies. Charles Levin grabs his readers by the throat and doesn't release his hold till the last page has been read!

Oh wow!! I really enjoyed this book. This is book three in what I think might be a great series (judging by this book). I must admit I haven't listen to the other books and I have obviously missed a thrilling adventure (that I will have to visit) but it is easy to pick up the story and follow along and what a ride it is. The story is told by multiple characters, so definitively keeps you on your toes but so much happens in this book that it keeps you hooked until the end. The plot was interesting, especially with the world as it is at the moment and with two dominant baddies trying to take down the world (in very different ways) there was plenty of action and suspense. Just a really good book that I would recommend, in fact I might get the kindle version for my dad to read.
They thought with the death of the leopard they were safe but they were wrong and now they face a double attack. Sam, Rich, Michelle and Renata must stop not only the Leopard again but In a different form (who after stealing the technology that brought Sam back to life has chosen a new and better body) but also his sister. The pair work separately to unleash chaos and destruction on the American public. One wants to take over the world by taking over bodies and the other wants to destroy as many lives as possible. Both are deadly and need to be stopped but with time running out before they launch there attacks, will the four fearless agents trust the wrong people?
I liked the narrator and thought he did a good job with the many voices needed to bring this story to life.

Sam and The Leopard are 'alive' again, in a development that, as one of the characters says, moves this from science-fiction to dystopian future. Although I'm nothing if I'm not old school, so I'd call it CyberPunk :P

Dual threats, non-stop action and old and new characters running against time made this story impossible to put down even for a second.

Original, challenging, exciting and pushing the limits of both reality and ethics, this third instalment of the series doesn't disappoint.

Daniel Greenberg does a great job with the narration.
