A beautifully illustrated collection of first recipes and family stories by Kate-Greenaway winning author, Shirley Hughes. This classic collection of easy-to-follow recipes, inspired by everyday family adventures, is the perfect introduction to cookery for first readers. From making pancakes with Dad, baking apples after the Saturday shopping or even icing a birthday cake for Mum, this sumptuously illustrated recipe book gives a gentle insight into the joy of cooking together.
Shirley Hughes is the illustrator of more than two hundred children’s books and has won many prestigious awards, including the Kate Greenaway Medal twice. She is the author-illustrator of DON'T WANT TO GO! and OLLY AND ME 1 2 3. She died at her home in London on the 25th of February, 2022.
A nice collection of really simple recipes suitable for the very young to have a go at. The recipes are interspersed and vaguely related to well loved Shirley Hughes illustrations. I did like this collection of ideas for snacks and tea times but I was dissapointed that the finished product wasn't shown, so you have no idea what you are aiming for, either a photo or a Shirley Hughes illustration would have been nice and I think vital for a recipe. I also felt it was a bit of a rehash of already popular illustrations that have been used in more than one, if not several books already.
