A very good contemporary romance. I will admit that I felt like screaming, " Don't do it Abby," for the majority of the read though. Thankfully, the ending was heartwarming and brought the drama to a happy end. I would recommend this to readers who enjoy a good romance and those who love a good cowboy story.

I’ve been needing a nice light romance and the last one I tried wasn’t as light as I wanted. This one is light and Hallmark-y without being stupid or inane. I really enjoyed Abigail and Maddy’s growing relationship in particular.

Only downside: I disliked that they were the only adults in the house alone even after becoming strongly attracted to each other.

A Cowboy's Touch is about Abigail and Wade. Abigail is an overstressed work-a-holic who was sent on three months vacation by her mother to visit her great Aunt. While there Abigail meets Wade's daughter and get's roped into being her nanny for the summer. But when she meets Wade for the first time she feels a spark of attraction that she hasn't felt in a long time. Wade was once a famous cowboy but after the tragedy and suspicion following his wife's death he moved himself and his daughter out of the spotlight and to Montana. Wade also finds himself unwillingly drawn to Abigail, she brings out feelings that he thought he had long since conquered.

Both Wade and Abigail suffer from hidden guilts and pasts. But when Abigail learns that her mother's magazine and all the jobs that go with it are about to be fired she decides that she is going to save the magazine. She has the perfect story expose where the famous cowboy disappeared too and to find out the mystery surrounding his wife's death. But things get more complicated for Abigail when her feelings start to get more involved and she questions whether to write the story or not. As things start to grow between the two both begin to heal old wounds but everything could change once Wade finds out about the story.

This is a Christian romance book which I didn't know when I began reading it. I have nothing against this genre but it came as a surprise. I loved Wade I thought he was an amazing character. He held so much guilt over what happened to his wife that he felt he couldn't be close to any other women including his daughter. He felt that they were all better off without him. I felt for him and understood his hurts, but was glad to see that he was able to heal and overcome some difficult things in his past.

Abigail I really liked in the beginning of the book, but I didn't like what she did to Wade. She knew he and his daughter and cared about them both yet she was going to write a story exposing their life and bring in everything Wade tried to get away from. I found her to be selfish, I know that she was only trying to help the magazine but what she did and how she went about it were very wrong in my opinion. She was naive to believe that Wade would understand, especially since she knew how hard he worked and that he didn't crave attention. I also didn't like how her mother encouraged her to write the story even though she knew how conflicted Abigail was about it, and also how they kept saying God put this opportunity in front of you he wants it. They were justifying what they wanted by using God as an excuse. I personally thought Wade deserved better than Abigail in the end. It was a nice story and I enjoyed it, but Abigail brought down the book for me a little.

“A Cowboy’s Touch” is romantic, heartwarming, touching and packs a message sure to reach the heart and soothe the spirit.

The angle of the story was a great way to start the book, when Abigail needs peace and quiet to ease her hypertension. And—ahem—I think she found a pretty good way to do that. *smile*

Wade is a hunky cowboy with a big heart—and a lot of problems. I loved that this novel went beyond the superficial romance and really delved into the spiritual aspect of both Abigail and Wade’s lives. There is a definite growth and definition in both of the main characters. As the book came to a close I appreciated the changes they made. And it affects more than just their physical.

The climactic scene was especially well done I thought and the plot was fresh and enlivening.
I would have liked to see more of the book in Wade’s point of view, but aside from that, I really enjoyed this story.

It has a great setting (wouldn’t mind living there myself), terrific characters, unique and flawed, and a romance always does my heart good. But that’s Denise Hunter for you. *wink*

This review is my honest opinion. Thanks to the publishers through FIRST for my copy to review.

I enjoyed this one. I liked Abigail and while I cringed a little about her decision to write a story about Wade, I did like the way thing wrapped up. I actually would have liked it we could have seen the fall out a little more and what happens when everyone finds out who Wade really is. Did it really help the town? How was his privacy effected? Stuff like that. Anyway, I liked the relationship between Abby and Wade, I kind of wish the romance had been turned up a tad. But, overall its a nice story and I enjoyed the writing. Fun series.

Content: Clean. Religious content I would say is mild-moderate. Not too preachy and does not overshadow the story.

It's hard to reconcile Abigail's cringe-worthy actions against Wade and Maddie with her proclamation of love for them, since the two don't exactly go hand-in-hand. Therefore, I wouldn't say the romance is something to swoon over. All in all, it wasn't a favorite.

I’m a huge Denise Hunter fan, and I enjoyed the cowboy angle to this story, as well as the single father trope. I can tell that Denise Hunter’s writing has developed and deepened over the years and that this series is an earlier work of fiction for her.

A Cowboy’s Touch is a sweet story and a quick read, but it is predictable and fairly cliched. The main female character is naive in her thinking, though she has a good intentions. The male character is quick to anger and even quicker to forgive. He’s got a good heart, but a painful past. This story did wrap-up a little too easily to reflect real life, and though it’s a fairly simple story, it’s also sweet. I appreciated the message and found it a nice little, feel-good romance.

Don't be deterred by the rating: Denise Hunter is a talented author. I have read the second book in this series and it was enjoyable. A Cowboy's Touch on the other hand...

Abigail is a city-dwelling workaholic reporter who is suffering from hypertension. Her mom/boss decides that what she needs is some time off, so she sends her to the country for three months and orders her not to do any work while she is there. Abigail is staying with her great aunt, who is either suffering from early stages of dementia or eccentricity. It is Abigail's job to assess her condition and decide if she needs to be moved into an assisted living facility.

In her great aunt's doll shop in town, Abigail meets an upset girl named Maddy who has lost her bike. One thing leads to another and before she knows it, she receives a job offer from the girl's handsome but reclusive father (Wade Ryan), who needs a nanny to watch Maddy while he is working on the ranch.

But Abigail soon discovers that Wade is more than he seems...

More like 4 1/2 stars. Ahhhhh!! Did this book ever play with my emotions! Every single one! Even though I'm still mad at Abigail for what she did (and her mom) I deducted half star for her being a ninny lol. At the end, gotta love a book that tugs on every emotion, plus Wade was TO DIE FOR! And a romantic ending, to boot :)

I listened to this book on audio and there were lots of aspects of this story I enjoyed, including the ranch setting and cowboy hero. But I didn't care for the heroine's actions toward Wade and his daughter midway into the book and to the end. Wade's quick forgiveness and turnaround seemed rushed in my opinion, and I would like to have seen more about how his actions affected him, his daughter, and their town. That said, Christian Romance fans will probably enjoy this read.

I really enjoyed this touching story. The Montana setting is just perfect and I love how the story speaks to the hearts of both Abigail and Wade, bringing up much more of the spiritual side of them both rather than just the physical, fleeting parts of romance. Wade's past hurts, Abigail's current health concerns, and Wade's sweet daughter Maddy who provides a connection for the both of them, gives this story a sense of realness. Although, a hunky, thoughtful cowboy as the main love interest surely doesn't hurt!

I loved the storyline!! Abigail works for a magazine and is dealing with some health issues. Her doctor, her sister, orders her to take some time off and her mother sends her to Montana to check on a great-aunt for the summer. Abigail meets a cute 11 year old girl, Maddy, and somehow becomes her nanny. Wade, Maddy's father, is a rancher and has been widowed for a few years. He likes seclusion and has closed his heart off. But when sparks start to fly, can he keep things that way?

Abigail is a very likeable character, as is Maddy. She's a good person, striving to do good things. Wade is kind of mysterious and seems pretty clueless about the needs of an almost teen daughter, but he's great.

My only pet-peeve (which is totally personal), is that by halfway through the book, the dialog was really starting to bother me. There were a TON of fragmented sentences, such as: "Don't know." or "Didn't bother me." or "Thought you liked her." It just started to seem like the characters spoke more that way than not and it almost started to detract from the story for me.

But...it was a cute, clean, enjoyable Christian romance.

I picked up this older series because I was in the mood for an easy romance with a bit of drama. It hit the spot. Overall enjoyed it. I wasn’t a huge fan of our FMC. She made some really stupid choices that felt quite immature—-and excused herself out of them the whole time she did it.

That part of the story was really annoying.

Abigail Jones has been wrangled into taking a break from her career as an investigative journalist. While she spends the summer in Montana with her aunt, she’s introduced to single dad, Wade Ryan. The former rodeo star is aloof and reserved—but when Abigail takes a summer job as his daughter’s nanny, sparks begin to fly. Problem? He has secrets from his past. Investigative journalists don’t like secrets. While the romance buds, the hidden circumstances threaten the future.

Things I liked :

🤠The writing style (as always!)
🤠The cowboy/ranch setting (currently in the mood for it)
🤠Hallmark feel (with just a tad more tension)

I’m continuing the series 👍

I liked this one, particularly because I got the full story of some of the characters in The Accidental Bride. I like how, in the first two books of this trilogy, you get to see the main characters fall in love with each other, but also with each other's children, watching as they become a family, not just a romantic couple. It's not something you see very often in romances, and I loved the inclusion in these books. The conflict in this one felt too overdone for me to really feel invested (one person holding back a big secret that, yes, the other person will probably be upset about, but would be easily resolved if they'd just be upfront and honest), but it didn't keep me from enjoying the story, the setting, and the characters.

This was my first book by Denise Hunter And I really, really liked it! Abigail was a sweetheart, and Wade was a hot, mysterious cowboy. I totally got wrapped up in the story and stayed up way too late reading.
At one point I wanted to stop reading because But it turned out ok. ;)
Super sweet and I'm looking forward to reading more in the series.

I have read and enjoyed several of Denise Hunter's Christian Romances, but this one just didn't work for me. I can't be too specific or I'll give away too much, but I'll just say that I find celebrity exposé journalism to be incompatible with Christian values, and thus I didn't have much sympathy for the lead character.

I do like the way Hunter writes her romances, with enough sexuality to feel real, but with characters who have high standards of morality. Still, a flat 3 stars for A Cowboy's Touch.

I started this book a while ago and seemed to have lost interest, then I picked it up again and ended up finishing it. I think it’s a sweet romantic love story, however fairly predictable. I do enjoy Denise Hunter as an author so I will also read the other two in this series.

A Cowboy's Touch by Denise Hunter 303+ pages Hardback, story ends on 299
A Big Sky Romance #1

Genre: Christian Fiction, Romance > Christian Romance, Contemporary Romance, Clean Romance; Westerns, Inspirational

Featuring: Chicago, Illinois; Moose Creek and Bozeman, Montana; Journalism, Ranch Life, Small Rual Town, Single Parenting, Reading Group Guide, Author's Letter, Book Preview: Surrender Bay (Nantucket #1) - 4 pages unnumbered

Rating as a movie: PG-13 for adult situations

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My thoughts: Page 30 of 299 Ch. 5 - Four chapters in and I'm loving this book. I wasn't expecting a comedy.
📖 126 Ch. 16 - This reads like a Disney Family Romance, without the kid trying to get them together.
📖 209, 3 pages into Ch. 26 - This is a slow cooker romance for real. It's no longer kid centered but goodness, get out of neutral and put it in gear already.

This book is a little bit of everything. You have the big city writer hitting a small town, you have the eccentric great-aunt, the motherless child with the hot dad who has a secret, reconnecting with God, they even throw in a best friend and a nanny trope. I really enjoyed this story. The romance was more of the attraction turned love style. It reminded me of the family movies I watched as a kid where a child befriends an adult and brings them home to your single parent. So, most of the first half of book was centered around the little girl, then the coupling took near the end of the book. I was surprised there were enough pages left for the standard blow up and reconciliation. I loved that both covers are actual scenes from the story. I had the one with the lady blowing the dandelion on the cover, but I the the cover with the guy and horse is just as fitting.

Recommend to others?: Yes. This was a good story even though it was lacking in romance.

Denise Hunter has such a beautiful way of incorporating elements of faith, romance, and intrigue into her stories. I have walked away from each of her books with a new sense of hope that I haven’t been able to find in many other works.

A Cowboy’s Touch is no exception with a hero and heroine the reader can grow with, an inspiring journey, and a peaceful setting that makes the reader feel at home. This is a wonderfully written story that will tug at your heartstrings in the best way.

Denise doesn't know how to write books that don't captivate me. Not sure what I'll do when I catch up reading all her backlisted titles while waiting on the newest publications. Each is so easy to picture in my head. Mental health is also something hard to write about, not just for the person suffering but also for those close by. The grief process looks so different for everyone, I can't imagine trying to grieve in the limelight.

This is a delightful story. From the moment Abigail Jones, the heroine, decides J. W. "Wade" Ryan, the swoon worthy hero, is a possible murderer, she jumps from one wrong conclusion to another. Add to it her perceived guilt from a childhood incident and his guilt over his wife's death and you end up with a story about finding forgiveness. A Cowboy's Touch is a clean, Christian romance Denise Hunter executes very well.

A Cowboy’s Touch is the first book in Denise Hunter’s A Big Sky Romance series, but definitely isn’t the first book I have ever read by her. I am a HUGE fan of Denise’s, and have been for quite some time, so I was excited to be able to continue reading more of her books. When I found I had some extra time to read whatever I wanted, I knew I absolutely had to read this series. So, I added it into my blog schedule, and next thing you know, I’m reading this book! And, just like I expected, this book was fantastic! I absolutely love Denise’s books, so I expected as much, but I definitely didn’t expect to love this one as much as I did!
Abigail Jones was not my favorite character throughout a decent amount of this book. Now, don’t get me wrong, I liked her when I was first introduced to her at the beginning of the story. It’s just that about midway through this novel, she makes a choice, a decision, that I am absolutely NOT okay with. The whole time, I was so scared she was going to ruin everything, so that’s why I just couldn’t love her the way I wanted to at first. I wanted to love her for who she was, and I do now, but it was just so difficult for me to get past the horrible mistakes she was making! But I guess it wouldn’t have made for such a great novel if she hadn’t made a few mistakes along the way!
Wade Ryan was definitely my favorite character in this novel. All through this book his struggle with the death of his wife is by far the most charming thing, and you cannot help but want everything to turn out well for him. As I made my way through the story, I couldn’t help but want to take all his pain away from him and help him to realize that he couldn’t always protect everyone, and that it wasn’t his job to. The more I got to know him, the more I loved him, for his sweetness and compassion and love for his daughter. Basically I loved everything about him, and that’s why it was so hard for me to love Abigail when everything was at stake.
All in all, I really, really loved this book, and I’m super excited to read the rest of the series! I think the ending was my favorite part, but I really loved it all. I can’t imagine not giving A Cowboy’s Touch all five bookshelves, especially since it’s now on my all-time favorites list. This book has definitely helped me to remember all the reasons why I love Denise’s writing, and I’m so glad I decided to read it!
