Englishman Steven Moore grew up by the seaside, thus his first true joy was the great outdoors. His innate love of travel and a degree in anthropology, archaeology, and art history help inform his fiction writing. Steven also loves painting, photography, and both playing and watching sport.

The travel bug bit the now perpetual nomad early, and to date Steven has lived and worked on five continents, and visited almost sixty countries. Steven combines an age-old writing adage; Write what you know, with his own mantra; Write where you know, and sets most of his novels in places in which he has either lived or spent an extended period of time.

When not on the road with his writer wife Leslie, San Miguel de Allende in Mexico is home, which they share with their rescue cats Ernest Hemingway and F Scott Fitzgerald (Ernie and Fitz).

A lifelong love of food, wine, and beer have demanded a new-found love of yoga and hiking in order to fend off the imminent arrival of middle age.

This was a great series, with unexpected twists, and a thrilling ending. The plot unfolds easily, swiftly, and never lets the readers' attention wane. A plane wreck leads to an exciting adventure, mysterious men behind their backs. It’s also about real life, feelings of waste, despair and falling into the folds of depression, of survival, courage and love in oneself and others; about friendships and resilience. I’m keeping close tabs on this new tropical series.

Waste of time

Not worth the time to read. I only read the first of 4 books because it was a free download on bookbud. Where to start? The main character is originally described as a scarecrow and then with a little beet belly. The guy supposedly was successfully running his charter operation before having to sell it but keeps his plane. Then doesn't have enough sense to charge enough to pay his wages and proper maintenance on the aircraft. The author did not do any kind of research on what it takes to maintain an airplane or the cost involved. $5000 for an alternator and the $15,000 for a rebuilt engine. The ratio is all wrong if engine is $15k then alternator would be $500. If alternator is $5k then engine would be $150k. Then you have a drunk pilot. He was drunk because he was drinking well within 8 hours of flying therefore he violated the FARs. Then the authors confound me with their lack of research on diving. No idiot is going to dive without some training but the main character does. They call the air tank an oxygen tank. They say he is running out of nitrox which is a special blend of diving air for deep dives not 30 foot dives. Then he gets shot but doesn't go to hospital. Gets club in the face but again no hospital. There is shooting in a city and nobody calls the cops? His house boat has water on the floor and the guy leaves and is surprised the next day when it is sunk? I wanted all the characters to die in this book because they were so stupid. This is the first and last book I will read from these authors. I have no idea how they managed to write more or get them published.

They started with a zero guy and end a minus zero.

I honestly made the mistake of reading all four to see if they improved. THEY DON’T. You can’t take a looser guy and expect anything else. There wasn’t any flow in any of the stories to have a fit. There wasn’t any character development from one book to the next. The story lines were not close enough to make you think it was believable, just the looser guy thinking about his next drank and getting into trouble. These authors are better than this. You can only ask why and go to another author.

An entertaining set, especially if you like investigating legends, like in the DaVinci Code, with characters who are more in the ‘normal’ than ‘super’ human variety. Great plots and lots of action

The Ryan Bodean Tropical Thrillers Box Set - a review by Rosemary Kenny

Havana Fury:
An adventure tours company won in a lucky bet, the acquisition of a cherished seaplane 'Gidget', (previously fallen into disrepair) and an unexpected encounter with 'old flame', archeologist Megan Simons, are all elements that become entangled, when flawed 'hero' Ryan 'RB' Bodean tries to turn his life around.
Havana Fury is a prequel adventure novella, that introduces the duo and tells how they're targeted by unknown assailants - who don't shrink from murder to get what they want!

Atlantis Storm:
An unexpected encounter with a kindly old man, (while on one of his epic 'benders') leads to another incredible adventure for 'RB', before a deadly ancient cult, (who will stop at nothing to protect their secret temple and treasures), The Children of the Order of the Light, are hot on RB and Meghan's trail.

Can our intrepid hero save the girl (he doesn't quite dare tell his true feelings to)?
Will Atlantis turn out to be real?
Can RB and Meghan overcome their financial woes and restore Gidget (and their salvage company), to glory?

Hemingway Found:
This is a tale of the great Ernest Hemingway's missing manuscripts, based on real events.
Starting with a clever prologue, 'RB' and Megan decide to go whale-watching in Norway; but malign circumstances dictate they'll never make it!
What is the Congregation of Light?
Where did RB and Megan encounter their agents before?
As the action moves at breakneck speed, you're sure to become totally engrossed in the many twists and turns, leading to an amazing conclusion you won't see coming!

El Dorado Gold:
A seaplane afficionado, RB's thrilled when Jackson 'JT' (aka 'Papa', due to his resemblance to Ernest Hemingway) Tannenbaum hires R.B, his archeologist girlfriend Megan, Joe Wayne, a huge bodyguard/weapons specialist and Australian MMA expert Paulina ('Mac') MacPherson, to research reports of the eponymous treasure in the South American jungle, as part of the newly-formed S.C.O.U.T. team.

Papa provides them with weapons, equipment and backup, in the form of tech genius Xiao who hacks satellites around the world, to track the team and update them with useful info.

Events swiftly unfold, leaving the hapless R.B and Megan in the greatest danger of their lives.

El Dorado Gold is another fantastic adventure, that will hook you like a marlin on a spike and whisk you away to a world of lies, deception and danger, where legends come to life and transpiring events illuminate things you could never imagine in your wildest dreams.

Totally awesome reading!

What a storyline..from the first chapter to the final word these books held you , had you laughing, crying, scared for Megan and JB. Each chapter had you thinking there's no way they'll get out of this one.. But they do, even when you've read it you can't believe that they got out of that situation. Love JB and Meg. So looking forward to their next adventure..

This series was just ok. A lot of it was predictable with very few surprises, which is why it took me a year to finish this. This was a book series that you could put down and forget, but I just wanted to get it read and off my tablet. You could possibly say that I was committed to reading this series after downloading it for free. If you don't get to read this you really haven't missed much. Overall I would recommend you skip this series and move on to something more interesting.

Troy's little brother but his adventures aren't small

These stories are fun to read and have some interesting adventures. But they really seem to follow the same general plot lines and in fact are very reminiscent of the old movie serials that l watched when young where the hero and or heroine go from crisis to crisis.

Enthralling

Three different scenarios but still the same type of suspenseful adventures. A delight to be regaled but such stories. Interesting by the basing on referring to real myths and places whilst not suggesting in any way that the situations are actually true. Quite outstanding.

Don’t bother reading. I pushed thru the series to see if it would get better well it didn’t. Ryan is a drunken idiot! Stuff didn’t make sense at all. The characters never progressed. I did however like the theory in the story. This could of been so much better if there had been character development and more attention to the details.

A good natured thriller romp.

Reminds me of something you would read in Boy's Own. A UK magazine publication for the uninitiated. This is not meant to take anything away from this series.
It is a fun series to read and with some of the escapades, not meant to be taken seriously. Certainly wiles away the hours with a few chuckles on the way.

If you loved Clive Cussler and Dirk Pitt then you will also love this box set. Troy or Ryan are both super characters and the books are based on the Florida Keys. This is a really good buy for Ocean lovers thrillers.

Great books!

The plots on these three books are excellent and very interesting. These are great reads. The only thing that I didn't like was the authors repetition of the characters biographies in each book.

I'd call this 2 and a half stars. While the writing was fine it was about 90% action and only about 10% plot. I would have liked a little more adventure research and well plot to balance out the action.

Interesting

I like the carryover with each book. Each had it's own storyline. They are a lot like a movie would be...grand, action-packed adventures. The good guy lives on.

Calling all adventure enthusiasts!

Two of my favorite authors, David Berens and Steven Moore, have combined their considerable literary talents to provide their readers with a superbly imagined, entirely enthralling, action-packed adventure series featuring a cast of truly memorable characters. At the center of these stories are Ryan Bodean, a hard-drinking but very likable treasure-hunter and adventure enthusiast and Megan Simons, his partner in the salvage/treasure-hunting business and potential romantic partner. Ryan and Megan keep finding themselves in the middle of some amazing globe-trotting quest and the lucky readers get to tag along. This box set consists of the prequel novella and the subsequent 3 novels detailing their exploits as they endeavor to protect the world from deep-seated corruption while exploring various historical mysteries and hunting for lost treasures.

HAVANA FURY
This fast-paced thrilling adventure is a prequel to an exciting new series featuring Troy Bodean’s brother, Ryan, as the main character. Havana Fury is one of those stories that will hold your attention from the first page to the last. The characters are well-developed and likeable. The story is absorbing and the writing is compelling. Take a break and treat yourself to a quick, adrenalin-fueled adventure. Where else can you get danger, drones, politics, peril, scuba diving, shark attacks, explosions and adventure and never have to leave your favorite chair?

ATLANTIS STORM
Salvage adventurers Ryan Bodean and Megan Simons are struggling to keep their salvage business from going down like the wreckage they hunt. When an old fisherman offers them the chance of a lifetime, they find themselves thrust into a fast-paced adventure-packed trek to Spain in search of the lost city of Atlantis. The action is non-stop and the story is based on a delightfully intriguing blend of fact and fiction which keeps the reader’s interest from start to finish. Engaging characters, exotic locales, and continuous anticipation make this an incredible treat for armchair adventurers.

HEMINGWAY FOUND
This enthralling tale features an artfully woven blend of fact and fiction centered around the great Ernest Hemingway and the mystery of his stolen manuscripts. The main characters, Ryan Bodean and Megan Simons, are enjoying a much-deserved vacation when events quickly transform their holiday into a nightmarish adventure in which old enemies resurface to exact revenge. The tension is unremitting, the action is non-stop, and the story line will engage the imagination from beginning to end.

EL DORADO GOLD
Berens and Moore offer us another hair-raising, action-packed adventure replete with super-high-tech toys, ancient tribal rituals, and amazing characters, some lovable, some duplicitous and utterly loathsome. In this story, our intrepid heroes, Ryan and Megan, are off to the Amazon to prevent the evil and power-hungry Illuminati from seizing control of the massive cache of gold of the fabled El Dorado. The stakes could not be higher. The tension is palpable as our heroes circle ever closer to a dangerous showdown with their highly-trained, well-funded and exquisitely lethal enemy.

If you enjoy white-knuckled adventure peppered with authentic historical facts set in exciting and exotic locales, this is a series worth every cent of the price and every second of your time.
