3 and 1/2 stars. I really loved the story, but there are some things about the book that really bother me. I don’t like referring to the Masters as boys. It just seems like something you call a sub.
The present tense writing in all descriptions of action or setting comes across as slightly forced and stilted, and the constant changing of point of view is distracting. I enjoy knowing what all the characters are thinking, but changing from one paragraph to the next bothersome.
I understood Christians reluctance to continue the 24 hour Dom/Sub relationship until Kyle addresses all his issues, but he wasn’t consistent. If he really thought it could be damaging to his mind why would he tie him to a cross and use a whip on him.
As I said, I did like the story and I loved that Carter and Lance were a major part of it.
Once again, we have a book that switches POV almost sentence to sentence, only this time, it's between 4 men, and not just the two from the first book. Also, again, there is some of the laziest BDSM that I've ever read about.
Somehow, Christian and Kyle are working on communicating and focusing on the importance of talking to each other and not holding back, and yet there isn't a single example of them doing so. When they go to sit down, and have a serious discussion about what is going on in their lives, it suddenly changes to a time for them to just watch TV and veg without all that pesky talking.
Then there is the comment that Christian tells Lance early on, about how having a serious relationship with Carter is somehow hurtful to Christian as well as impossible in the 'lifestyle'. WTF?! I didn't understand it at the time of reading it, and I still don't understand it now. How is a full time sub hurtful for a Dom to have? And this is coming from someone who has had a full time sub for years! Why would having a sub mean that they couldn't stay in the lifestyle? And to add insult to injury, Christian and Kyle get engaged later on! But I also have an issue there, if they aren't in a good place for them to continue in the foundation of their physical relationship what makes that anywhere near a good time to propose marriage?!
Finally, this might just be because I got an ARC, but this book was desperately in need of an editor. I had to stop and figure out which almost-homonym was intended so many times that it was very hard to keep track of the story.
The one thing that I really liked about this book was its depiction of Kyle's road to dealing with his past abuse. It's never really over, and even after you've recovered a 'normal' life, something can trigger you back to that very vulnerable state. I liked that Kyle's reactions, his emotions, and even his avoidance were all so very true to what really happens - even years later, and with counselling.
Wow, this book really packs punch. I love how the story picks up from the last book while introducing the new main characters. I really don’t think I have read a book like that before. I truly see why Sebastian intertwined Lance/ carter and Christian/ kyle. These couples are the closest of their group and will stand by each other in good and bad times. Especially when Kyle breaks down and need the help of his friends and Master to guide him. I must say I love how Kyle handled himself as he faces his past, I’m not sure many of us would have had that courage after what he had endured all those years ago. I truly love how Christian has been their for Kyle as a Master, friend, lover and confident. It’s just goes to show how deep his love for Kyle truly is powerful. Most of all I am glad they took that extra step to safe guard there love and tighten their bond.
I voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving a free copy.
i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the second book in the Billionaire Boys' Club series. In this book, Kyle is Christian's sub and they have a 24/7 dom/sub relationship. Kyle is also the victim of domestic abuse, his former Dom had hurt him and was sent to prison. Christian and Kyle are good friends with Lance and Carter, another dom/sub couple. When Kyle is confronted by his ex while out to dinner with Carter, he freezes and Carter comes to his rescue. Christian is upset he wasn't there for Kyle and wants to help him deal with his past. Kyle needs to heal and he needs to be able to move on without worrying about his relationship with Christian. I liked this story. There was a lot of hot and steamy scenes, then the story moved on to an emotional journey for Kyle. There was a bit of everything in this book. I loved the love between Christian and Kyle, they really loved each other and wanted to work things out to be together. i was also glad to see Kyle and Carter develop a strong friendship. I think Kyle was a strong man who survived a lot. This was the first book i read by Sebastian, but i want to read more. Good one.
This is the second book in this series. I however didn't read the first book but I got the jist of it. This was kind of confusing to read because the POV kept changing. Kyle and Christian have a 24/7 dom/sub relationship. Kyle was also a victim of an abusive relationship. He and Christian are trying to communicate better. Im glad that those 2 got their HEA.
Sebastian Winters decision to write in this genre was a great shift. I liked this book and it builds well on the first book. I received a free copy. I am looking forward to the third book in the series. I gave it four stars for the style. I had a hard time getting the flow of the narrative down. The character speaking shifts so quickly sometimes it is difficult to know which direction things are headed. That being said I still strongly recommend this book if you enjoy M/M books. The story is erotic, suspenseful and romantic. I would strongly suggest that you read The Temp before this book.
'The Sub' is Book 2 in The Billionaires Boys' Club and although it could be read as a standalone it is so much better read with book 1 as characters appear in both books. BDSM themes but nothing too graphic in the story.
This was an easy and enjoyable read, with some very HOT scenes and over the top heroes, while still having a story line to follow.
Ends with a steamy introduction to the next book, The Baker. I can't wait.
The sub is an m/m book about a dominant named Christian and his submissive named Kyle. They’ve been together for seven years and are totally immersed in the lifestyle 24/7. When Kyle’s former a suite dom re-enters The scene, their lives take a dramatic turn. I really liked this book but found it a little hard to read in parts. The book is told in third person and switches between various characters quite a lot. The more I read, the easier it got though.
I just Love this unconventional billionaires boys club. This series, if you haven’t started it yet and trust me when I say you really should, is about Gay Billionaire Doms and their “boy”. These men live and thrive within the BDSM community.
In The Sub we get an inside look into the lifestyle of Christian and Kyle with the added plus of catching up with Lance and Carter. We learn of Kyle’s troubled past and his journey to the present with Master Christian. The author has given us an outstanding look into their dynamic as well as a storyline full of emotion. I can’t wait to see what happens next within the Billionaires Boys Club’s walls
I received an ARC of The Sub in exchange for a review. I enjoyed reading the book however I don't think it was as good as the first book in the series. It does have lot of steamy love scenes. I really love Kyle and Christian. Kyle is so sweet and Christian is so gentle with him yet tough when he needs to be. I look forward to reading the next book in the series
I was so disappointed with this book. The edits are atrocious, and the way the author flips from the first person to second and third is crazy. The story is all over the place. I had such high hopes for this because the blurb sounded so good.
Sebastian and Kyle have been in a relationship for several years. They are 24/7 Dom and Sub. Everything is great until Kyle's ex that was abusive comes back into is life and Kyle questions everything about his and Sebastian's relationship. Both are friends with Lance and Carter, who are also involved with this life style. It was nice to see their friendship deepen and continue from book one. There's something for everyone who loves to read MM Romance, angst, drama, thrills, some danger, lots of erotic sex and sweet romance. This was an ARC book given to me from Hidden Gems. In planning on seeking out the other books in this series!
Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. Poor Kyle is getting punished and doesn't even knows the why of it. Kyle is the boy Carter yelled at for "stealing his job" well technically it was Katy's but Carter was jealous now the Dom's are going to give them a chance to connect in a different way. It seems Carter isn't the only one with jealousy issues, Kyle is set back in his therapy for reason unseen by Christian. No one realised just what was around the corner, darger is coming is it from within or past returning? I am thrilled that things are finally heating up more between Carter and Lance that the boy is adventuring more in the bdsm area. This is HELLA HOT as tthese dom/sub come together.
This was an interesting story. I kind of wish I could remember the confrontation between carter and Kyle. Christian is an interesting character. So formal and firm. I still feel they really haven't settled on what they need to do to strengthen their relationship. I feel they are turning a corner. I feel Christian might have been a little more Reluctant in the 24/7 of their relationship than he let Kyle know even from the beginning. They both need to face some hard truths to make it work.
Interesting storyline opens up right away with the naughty. I liked but I never connected really with the characters especially Christian but I still liked the story over all.
