Hedge witch, bone witch, forsaken, and Angelical: Too much for one tiny human. The price of survival in my world is high and the universe is gearing up to make me pay. This time, there is no escape from being Alessia Hastings.
For two years, I’ve been a supernatural pariah. The human with Lucifer’s blood and unpredictable power. After the Unity Games, I became House Pendragon’s bond mate elect. At this point, I’m not sure what’s worse.
What Malachi Pendragon wants, Malachi Pendragon usually gets. But there isn’t enough money, charm or Nephilim healing in the world that will stop the Angelical from killing me.
My life has never been a fairy tale. My prince is an arrogant jackass who won’t stop trying to make me bond with him. Even at the expense of the rest of supernatural society.
My sleeping beauty is a seraph who wants to use me to destroy the dimensions.
And my happily ever after could come with a dose of the apocalypse. The only way to save the people I love is to make the ultimate sacrifice. Nothing will ever be the same again. It’s a good thing I’m not a lay down and die type of girl.
Bloodline Fallacy is book 5 in the Bloodline Academy series. It is an Australian Young Adult Urban Fantasy series filled with pulse-pounding action, snarky dialogue and slow burn romance. Think Buffy meets Supernatural Academy.
Lan Chan is a writer, gardener and professional procrastinator based in Melbourne, Australia. She is still waiting for her super powers to manifest but until then she writes young adult novels featuring strong female protagonists, minority characters and has a particular interest in dystopias and urban fantasy. Lan’s debut novel POISON, the first in her WIND DANCER series is due for release in September 2015.
It took me so long to even attempt to make up an opinion on this book as a whole- there were so many conflicting things that happened.
This probably had to be my least favorite in the series so far, but it was still solid nonetheless.
I don't want to write too much (my bed is calling my name), so to put it bluntly: I didn't love how the romance progressed, but the fantasy was still solid.
I feel like this book, more so than any of the others in the series, really embraced its YA roots with the romance😭💀.
It's one of those things that 100% comes down to personal preference- because a lot of what happened actually made sense 💀- but I'm just so picky and the constant back and forth between the characters got to me. And the fade to black 😭😭🔫.
I still love Lex and Kai as a couple (and love them independently), I just wished certain things played out differently, or at least communicated more. I need some sweet scenes pls 😭🤧.

In terms of the fantasy, I actually really enjoyed it. There were moments where I didn't really know what to think about the direction that this book was headed, but the way that everything tied together is actually really interesting. It's a very lore-based series, and I'm just really into everything that's happening.

So yeah, overall this wasn't my favorite, but it was still good overall. The previous 4 books in the series to me were just perfection, so this rating is more of a comparison of that. But onto the next one we go.

Side note: I AM SHAKING IN MY BOOTS TO START THE NEXT BOOK. If you know me you know I don't like multiple POVs/ hate reading about side characters- I think I have a phobia lmao 💀 and the next book is completely in the POV of a side character and I'm scared.
But I'm staying positive- I'm doing this for Lex and Kai because I'm not accepting the way that this book ended 😭.
I hate plot twists, and the ending to this ruined the whole series for me. A wasted 2 days reading all this and letting me get emotionally invested in the universe.
It's a good thing this whole series came free on kindle unlimited because after this ending, I would want my money back if I had paid any.
This series was excellent I have never seen a girl go through so much heartache in five books. Lex and Sophie are bad assess even with all the mistakes they made. Loved Kai and max, I really hope the next book will be out soon I don't think I can wake any longer. Loved the series Lan and have already recommended this series.
DNF Skipped to the end. This book irritated me, the majority of the characters became so obnoxious. Kai was straight up a creep and way too possessive and what was it with Lex's Nan literally asking Kai to guard her at all times because Lex wanted to do something dangerous? They knew Lex was uncomfortable with the bond yet still tried to put her in that situation. I have never shipped Lex and Kai and I never will.
Great!!!it takes something special to write a really good series. Usually after a couple it starts just being the same thing over and over. Not this one. Each book had me on the edge of my seat. You will be surprised and will find yourself crying in spots. This is a must read!
Continuing with my re-reading /reviewing journey ......there's cliffhanger and then there's the body dangling on edge of chasm in hell , held on the side only by thinnest thread which is this book's ending. There is so much to unpack in this instalment, so much heartache. I want to quickly move to next book so this review will be short. I think this is the book from which we start getting the intense, large scale, finger-biting battle scenes, with multitude characters and a bunch of different stuff going on simultaneously. The previous ones were still more grounded on academy grounds and had less desperate circumstances I believe. This series really stands out because of the flawless execution of such scenes, even while rereading where I know the outcome, I am still on the edge. I loved, loved, loved Kai and Blue's bond -the angst and the love. The author really is cruel, giving fun and soft moments like Andrei being nailed and Kai,Lex with Dani etc. to breathe life into you only to then sucker punch you in the face with more pain.
I don't like to let tears fall but Lan Chan is only the second author that has made me cry. The things that happen to Lex in this book will put your emotions to the test. Her and Kai's relationship takes so many more twists and turns. The sacrifices Lex feels she has to make for her loved ones at times seem unfair and unbearable.
And let's not forget Sophie and Max. I finally got to see a glimpse of the strong willed badass that I read in Bloodline Sorcery.
This was a great read. I'm excited to see where things go next.
Can’t wait until this book comes out. Definitely one of my favorite series. I have fallen in love with lex and Kai and I can’t wait to see what happens. Extremely sad that the release date keeps on being pushed even further out each day that I check because I love this series so much. Excellent work.
I couldn't put this book down! By far the most suspenseful yet. I'm sorry to hear of your tragedy Mrs. Lan. I hope all becomes right in your world and patiently (nail biting) for your next release. Love and prayers coming your way. And thank you for inviting me in the the world of Bloodline Academy!
Free will is such an interesting construct and whether by design or unknowingly Alessia did not want to break the bob with Kai. His caveman tactics and obsession with her safety were tiresome but as she has a death wish I can see his point. And losing his family like that makes you reassess the importance of love and holding onto those you care about even if it is kind of smothering. Sophie is the perfect best friend who never gives up up her and will do whatever it takes to keep Alessia alive and safe. The voice of reason when Alessia would just rush in where angels fear to tread. Lucifer is pretty quiet this time around as Jacob seems to be his errand boy and terrorising Alessia and her friends. A shame they all couldn't work together sooner as they may have had a chance of stopping him before it was too late. I am looking forward to the battle scene as so many visions were described by Emily, I wonder what the outcome will be.after all it is all about the intent and not just the word ot symbol.
This book is the culmination of all the books in the most amazing way. I can't say the writing style is anything to shift e on however and I know I'm 9nky basing this off five books Lan Chan is a genius in plot building. Essentially the previous books were just context prequel for the beginning of the end and yes that all has to be done in two books but given the extensive exposition it can be done and gives me a lot of hope for the next book. That last portion of the book... those final battles 👌 🙌 👏 I'm reeling in exciteme t having just finished the book. I can't tell you whether the series is worth reading I'd you're wanting an amazing reading but I ca say this book elevated the series from eh to something I will remember forever. The twists she pulls out at the end of books 4 and 5 are ridiculous and could easily borderline bei g too much too close together too unnecessarily but it isn't its the closest to perfection in terms of plot. Still reeling still squealing still trying to comprehend what has just happened but OMG OMG O M G.
Bloodline Ascendancy (Bloodline Academy Book 5) ~~ This book was absolute chaos in the best way. The stakes are higher, the enemies are smarter, and Lex has to rise to a level she never asked for. Her relationship with Kia is strained and painful — they’re torn between destiny and their own fears.
One scene involving Lex losing control of her powers made my heart stop. Watching everyone realize what she is truly capable of was terrifying and exhilarating. She is not just powerful — she is world-changing.
The ending — that sacrifice scene and the separation that follows — wrecked me. I sat there just staring at the wall trying to process.
I would definitely recommend this book and series and can’t wait to start on the next book. If you want to know what happens next, you’ll just have to read this series yourself ~ you won’t regret it.
This series contains a badass little warrior who isn't snarky for the sake of it but who says what she means and means what she says. The Bloodline series has a riveting plotline flawlessly carried through every book and I recommend this to anyone who is looking for a solid read, that isn't full of sex but is still steamy with an intense chemistry between all the characters, and real connections. Sophie is the best friend I want to be, even while I hope to one day grow up to be Lexi, and find my Kai or Max (except with a HEA... At this point, nothing is guaranteed....)
This series is getting better and better. It kept me glued to my seat and literally couldn't put it down. Lexie continues to be one kickass heroine, growing and developing, but damn this girl can't seem to get a break! 😬 Kai is your typical gorgeous and hot 🔥 alphahole Nephilim, who you either want to slap or kiss him to death 🙊 🙈 🤣 The last few chapters of this book broke me! 💔 😭 Lan ripped my heart from my chest and crushed it. I'm still reeling from the events that happened! Guys, if you haven't read this series, you need to go and get your hands on these amazing books! The series is full of heart pounding action, mystery, magic, romance, witches, gorgeous Nephilim and shifters, Fae and Archangels! I love Azrael and my boy Lucifer 🙈 🙊 🤣 🤣 Please don't judge me, he is not all bad 🤩
This was BRILLIANT!! It was such a great addition to Lex’s story! It was a non stop book that I couldn’t put down!! I was so emotionally involved in this story and Lex’s life that I felt I was right there. It was a book you didn’t want to end.... I don’t want to spoil anything just know it’s a must read and I need the next book ASAP!
Lan Chan has done it again with this amazing book! There isn't a single page that didn't keep me in the edge of my seat waiting to see what was going to happen next! It was crazy and I loved every moment of this book I seriously can't wait for the next one I just want to know what's going to happen and how this will end
I've enjoyed all 5 of the books in this series that I have read. This book culminated in the end of a stream that had been ongoing throughout the previous 4. It just got better the more I read. It's hard to beat the tie-up of a cliff hanger novel in a great series. This one has it.
This series is taking me through an emotional roller coaster…whew. The author is fantastic but this heroine is on my very last nerve. She is abrasive, weak, and silly as all get out. Every new book I pray for her to get some sense and she never does.
The author has such a beautiful way of writing smoothly and of describing things that I’m able to see the book like a motion picture in my mind. This book has plot twists I didn’t see coming and layers of complexity and details that warrant a re-read.
The story just keeps ranking up. I feel really connected to the characters, and I can't wait to see how the story ends. Warning, this ends on a cliffhanger, so be warned. Very action packed!
A great continuation of the story. Keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering what decision the main character will make. Has some lulls but necessary in order to continue with the story. Fully wish there was more Kai in it though.
Excellent book, full of twists and unexpected turns.
I really enjoy the fact that I have not guessed the complete storyline as I usually do. The characters are very well defined and you feel as though they are your friends too. Very well done!
I have found this series to have enough depth that I really wanted to keep reading and buy the next book. And yet it was last got enough not to have me overly stressed about a books characters. I’ve enjoyed each book honestly.
I loved this book. The ending made me cry. Can alessia win something please. What a cliffhanger of an ending. I have to read what happens next and can’t wait. Good writer
Lex breaks the bond with Kai, ss she knows she is dying. Chenille announces the bonding ceremony with Kai. Lex tries to kill Lucifer, Kai comes to help to rescue her. The Soul Sisters betray her to the humans. She ends up making a bargain with Lucifer to save her friends.
She is always angry and bad stuff always happens. I enjoy the books, but I have to take a break and read something else for a while; something funny, inspiring, happy, or hopeful. I've ready 0 through half of this one and it's just too much all in a row.
Slow going initially but omg the ending was everything.....The prophecy is fulfilled and I'm just excited to see what happens next.....another masterpiece.! Can't wait to delve into the next book in the series!!!! Recommend to everyone, an unblemished masterpiece.
What would you do if you had to go to hell to try and save everyone you loved? Now picture that you know that it is a one-way trip. Would you make the same decision? Read this book to find out what decision is made and why.
