My instructor hates me.

If I could use my hacking expertise to fly through the academy’s courses I would, but that doesn’t work in hand-to-hand combat. And this guy? He’s determined to turn me into a soldier. Except I’m more suited to being a nerd than a killer.

I’m not here to learn those skills, only enhance my knowledge of alien technology, and it doesn’t include the Lokarian anatomy. But then I’m getting tutored privately, (because that’s how much I suck) and it’s giving me an upfront view of the male’s body as he kicks my Georgia peach two ways from Sunday.

And if that’s not enough, I’m being denied the opportunity to decode the enemy’s secrets. So I do what I do best: steal it. I am a hacker after all. Duh.

Will I be able to uncover the threat in time to save the academy, while simultaneously resisting my instructor’s lingering touches and smoldering looks? Or will I find myself being phished, but instead of a security breach it’ll be a full-on death trap?

Miranda Bridges began sneaking romance novels as a teenager and did not confess to reading them until she became a legal adult. After years and years as a voracious reader she woke up one day with a story in mind. She decided to write it down in order to silence her imaginary friends, but they’ve grown in number and have gotten louder. When she is not reading, writing, or drinking coffee she is taking care of two princesses who are of a reading age. Needless to say Miranda is still hiding romance books around the house, but now some of them have her name on the cover.

My favorite of the series so far as a battle of wills ensues...

This is my favorite of the Academy series so far as I really love Miranda's writing. She's capable of infusing so much character depth into her stories while not holding back on the action or steam. I loved the push and pull between Autumn and Mikaeus; their chemistry was so off the charts and palpable and I lived for their verbal sparring as much as their physical surrender. We finally got to see the Skrum bad guys in this one, so I'm excited for the finale next! ♡

I was looking forward to reading Autumn's story. She is quirky and funny. I didn't care for Mikaeus. He was a jerk in the beginning. It was okay for him to belittle Autumn in front of the class, yet he wants to go after another teacher who did the same thing.

I didn't like how Autumn gave into him over and over so easily. It felt inappropriate when he started making out with her during their training session. I did like it when Mikaeus rejected her and Autumn said "It wasn't that good anyway, sir". Ha!

I was sad for Carter. Too bad he didnt get abook

It's always hard for me to rate these shorty but goody books. I've really enjoyed this series and this book was no exception.
The romance felt a little rushed (typical novella problem) even though it's been hinted at in other books. One of the reasons this didn't receive a higher score from me is that there is a point in the story where the MMC does something that really should have taken more groveling to be forgiven from. I did not feel the amount of groveling exhibited was enough:)
Totally recommend this series though ... Two thumbs up for this collection of short stories.

Hard stop at 41% ...

I could not read anymore even after reading 41%. Came to the conclusion that I don’t care how it ends.

The pace was slow. With each book written by a different author, the disjointed feeling and lack of continuity just killed my desire to continue reading this book or anymore of the series.

Very boring; NO surprises and no character development;

If this is your first sci fi romance. Maybe you will like it. But if you have read a lot you will be so bored you will skim or DNF. Here is why
1) simplistic plot and conflict
2) simplistic stereotype hero and heroine with very little heat between them. I skimmed past most of the their “romantic interludes”.
3) no cultural conflict.
4) long scenes where he is training to fight that were supposed to be sexy but were not.

I have no clue why we are being flooded by these type of books that except for they have explicit scenes in them are written to entertain tweens. Good grief. This author can do much better.

Got it bad, got it bad, got it bad… I’m hot for teacher. Yep, this series is fire so far. 🔥 Also, I didn’t realize this series was a collaboration until the second book, oops.

Set in a futuristic time where we know aliens exist, a bunch of humans with special skills are sent to a planet called Lokar, where they attend the Lokarian Warrior Academy. There is one goal in mind at this academy, to teach earthlings how to fight against the common enemy known as the Skrum. The Skrum are “an insect-like race of aliens that attacks like a swarm—decimating their enemies with their mass of ships and hive-like movements—they are a scourge upon the galaxy. A scourge Earth was not aware of until they set their sights on the planet and the Lokarians stepped in to save it.” This alien warrior academy series follows the humans and Lokarians as they train together for a higher purpose.

Written in first person by Miranda Bridges, Reckless is book 3 in this series, and follows the human female Autumn Spencer and her Lokarian instructor Lieutenant Mikaeus. Mikaeus derived from the Kurvak clan of Lokar, the clan that wears gold bands upon their arms to outwardly display their wealth. He is the instructor for hand-to-hand combat, something that Autumn sucks at, being a hacker from Earth. Her lack of ability in fighting leads to one-on-one instruction from Mikaeus, which results in the two becoming even closer. When two people already suffer from mutual attraction, putting them in close proximity by wrestling on mats is a recipe for disaster. As expected, their lust led them into sex, which is exactly what I am here for.

Their first intercourse took place in chapter 11 at the 64% mark. The buildup to that point was balanced perfectly, but I am a little disappointed that it took so long for the two to give in to their desires. Mikaeus does display signs of jealousy at a couple points, especially when she admits that she knows Lokarians don’t possess male balls. I know that is supposed to be a major turn off, but it’s the opposite for me. I’m all about the growly, possessive dominant male who screams “mine!”

Of course, there were other adventures aside from the sex between a student and her teacher. Autumn wound up stealing the chip (with the help of a friend) they recovered in the last book since her hacking instructor refused to give her access. She broke the encryption just in the nick of time, warning the headmaster of an enemy attack on the academy. This led to Mikaeus not trusting Autumn, but they eventually worked through their bullshit.

Thankfully this collaboration is between some of my favorite authors because I’m hooked on the series and am looking forward to the next book. 🥳

Excitement and romance

I enjoyed Autumn and Mikaeus’ alien-human romantic suspense tale. The story is emotion filled, passionate, angsty, and suspenseful. Vokarians protected Earth from a potential attack by the Skrum who wanted to mine Earth and its water resources. After the Skrum is beaten back, a select group of humans with a diverse set of talents and skills are sent to be trained on Vokar at the Lokarian Warrior Academy to help protect and defend Earth. This story picks up where the last book left off, the Academy has an encrypted computer chip that the human traitor was carrying. Autumn is a human hacker which is why she was recruited to be trained at the Academy. Mikaeus is the Vokarian security chief and hand-to-hand combat instructor at the Academy. Autumn is terrible at hand-to-hand combatant is falling behind because of it. The Academy pulls her out of the hand-to-hand combat group class and orders Mikaeus to give her individual instruction. Unfortunately, Autumn and Mikaeus are intensely attracted to each other and trying to ignore the feelings. But feelings rarely stay in the boxes we try to shove them in. The journey to their HEA is fraught with tension, missteps, danger, sabotage, and healing. The story was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters, good world building, and an engaging storyline with sweet moments, steam, dangerous situations, alien physiology and cultures, political machinations, fated mates, coincidences, plot twists, painful pasts, missteps, and laughs. While the main romance story arc was resolved in this book, the story arc related to the traitor is still not completely resolved in this book. I will continue the series because I am invested now in the mystery.

I love Autumn and Mikaeus. I like when opposites come together, especially when one is a bit socially awkward just because I am too so I always connect more with characters like that. ALSO, I need a friend like Elena. Honest, she is my fav. And did anyone else cheese, a full on teeth smile, when the author referenced the HOBBIT. THIS IS ME RAISING MY HAND!! I did!! Only thing that throws me every once in a while in this book is the super cheesy romancy lines. I KNOW Im reading a romance, there are usually a few here and there, and I'm not a writer so I don't have a good work around for them just don't love them. I get that I am probably the minority in this. Most readers love those super over the top love lines. I like mine a bit grittier. If thats a critique, its minor, the book was really good.

Really like this series and I think the authors did a really good job of keeping their tone and pace true to themselves as writers but also allowing the flow of the story to keep going. Shut up, Im having fun reading these!

I don't know if any of them will read this BUT thank you, thank you, thank you for not reverting back to the beginning of the story every time. Allowing the timeline to flow from each book had to be a bit challenging but is so much better to read especially when you have all the characters, essentially, paired off in the first book!

Reckless

Third book in the series by a third different author.  They are doing a great job having the characters overlap and interact in a consistent way.  The story moves seamlessly from one book to the other.

The relationship building for the main characters is fraught with the same issue as the first two books - student/teacher dynamic.  Like most of the male leads in this genre, this MMC loves to dominate.  This is always problematic but is usually offset by their unwillingness and inability to hurt the FMC.  The MMC mostly follows this except later in the story when he thinks she's just been using him.  His response is almost cruel and lacks any faith in her.  When he ends up apologizing, she is not ready to talk to him so he forces her too.  He follows up being mean by ignoring her lack of consent.  She gives him consent later in the conversation but it doesn't make up for him being a bully earlier.  Imo, this actually makes his character inconsistent, implausible, and undeserving of her trust.

My favorite line - she's a hacker and he was, of course, being overbearing, "If I could download a virus into his d*ck, I’d feel better". (Asterisk is mine.). This would have made me feel better too.

Reckless - Alien Warrior Academy Book 3
By Miranda Bridges
Kindle unlimited purchase
Autumn and the rest of the human females have only been here for a couple of weeks now— a couple of weeks filled with traitors, sabotage, and bombings, oh my—. Autumn is a hacker and she's good. Now she is on a planet in an Academy to fight an alien race bent on hurting the earth and its inhabitants. But no one is letting her do what she is there to do. So she takes it into her own hands.
Mikaeus is at the Academy to teach hand to hand combat. Which one of his students not getting the hang of it, he has to teach her after classes one on one.
This book has action. But like all the other books student is doing poorly teacher takes it upon themselves to teach them one-on-one after hours and they fall in lust and then love. If it works why change it.
This 4 book series is written by 4 different authors but they read as they are written by the same author.
Book 1- ROGUE by Tana Stone
Book 2- REBEL by Hope Hart
Book 3- RECKLESS by Miranda Bridges
Book 4- RUTHLESS by Kyra Snow

Good

This is the third book in a multi-author series, but each book can be read alone, although there’s an overarching background story that works best when read in order.
Autumn is a human hacker from Earth, who was specifically asked for by the Lokarians, when they gathered the best that humankind had to offer, to attend the Lokarian academy and learn to fight the Skrum, a mutual enemy.
Mikaeus is the self defense instructor at the Academy. Autumn isn’t particularly good at the physical stuff, and his attraction to her is inconvenient.
All Autumn wants to do is use her computer skills to help, but her feelings for Mikaeus make it all complicated...

Another book in this sci-fi/academy romance mash-up. This time, we follow the geeky girl as she clumsily learns to fight in her own way.
Both she and the hero had to overcome some of their prejudices that were caused by past experiences, and learn to trust.
It’s an entertaining read, and a quick one, and my only complaint is that I really don’t get the obsession everyone has with trying to make the heroine curse!

Recommended for those who enjoy sci-fi alien romance.

I read this book as an ARC member
This is the third book in the Alien Warrior Academy Series. The two main characters are Autumn and Mikaeus.

Autumn is a hacker and was reported to the U.S . government by the Lokarians. Because of her excellent skills she was coerced into joining the Academy to infiltrate the attack on earth by the Skrum. First she has to pass all classes at the academy before she can actually put her skills to use. Unfortunately self defense classes are not her forte. Lieutenant Mikaeus is her instructor. He has led a privileged life and his race is one of the richest on Lokar. Their chemistry ignites when he is ordered to train her and have her succeed and pass his class. Their story has everything . Trust issues, sexual tension, passion and ultimately betrayal.

I couldn't put this book down. I was rivited my heart pounding a mile a minute for these two to be together. Miranda did not disappoint. You are a brilliant author!

Super good!

This book was amazing! Simply superb! I need, no demand more! These women have raised the bar to cosmic levels! I need more collaborations from these women! Such an amazing story! I love the world setting at the academy and the characters and how the story seamlessly flows. A lot of work went into this and I’m so in love with it! So much passion, intrigue, action and comedy is worked into these stories! I’m so happy our resident hacker got her HEA. Cadet Spencer was able to make the grade haha. From start to finish this book was fantastic and from book one you could just feel the build up between these two characters that you just knew it was going to be explosive when they collided and boy was I correct! If you’ve havent started this series you need to pick up Rogue today and get reading! You’re missing out on one of the greatest series of 2020 and possibly the greatest collaboration in history! 5 radiant stars from me!1 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The hacker/nerd need tutoring

Keeping up with your coursework 'at home' is hard enough. Being selected as one of the best humans Earth had to offer, and being sent to an Alien military Academy on Lokar means it is even harder.

Autumn is a hacker, great with tech and keyboards... but not exactly skilled in self-defense, human, or Lokarian style.

Mikaeus is the head of security, and self-defense instructor... and while he may appreciate Autumn's brains, and skill, everyone has to pass his class, even the ones he fears are more likely to harm themselves than others.

This story is more character centric than the previous two, it feeds into the overarching plot nicely, but takes a little time to build up and get there. Instead it focuses on trust, knowing those around you, and trusting your instincts.

Loved this book. This series has everything, suspense, intrigue, heartbreak, romance, sex and love. I do like how all the characters are in each of the books in the series. It allows the reader to become more attached to those characters and provides a richer reading experience.

I’ve known from book 1 that Mikaeus and Autumn had a thing for each other, so it was very satisfying to finally read about it. Mikaeus was the friend that prompted Zarryn to go after Layla in the previous book. This was my favorite pairing and I enjoyed every minute of this.

While this book could be read as a standalone, it would be better to read the series in order. As I mentioned, it gives the reader a chance to become much more familiar with the characters and the context of their stories.

Autumn is a hacker. She's used to being behind the scenes. Like any well-mannered southern belle, "bless your heart" is her own personal insult arsenal. Mikaeus is the resident combat instructor at the Lokarian Warrior Academy, he's gorgeous, intimidating, and grumpy. Determined to save her planet and loved ones, Autumn risks betraying the trust of the people she's trying to protect. I loved the character transformations in this story, like the old saying goes you definitely "cannot judge a book by it's cover'. This third installment of the Alien Warrior Academy series is another book I finished quickly, it was so good!

Hacker meets desperately denying my attraction

Another great addition to this series. Love the premise of a warrior academy where humans are learning more sophisticated techniques for things alongside cadets. Loved that a whole new world with new aliens were created. Autumn is a hacker who joined up and has no combat/fighting skills whatsoever. Whats even more hilarious is that she doesnt cuss. Mikaeus is thr hand to hand combat fighting instructor and is fighting his attraction for Autumn along with lamenting her poor fighting skills. So whats a male to do..... Its fun, cute, and I love all thr geeked out references in the book.

Excellent

I read these out of order because I love anything I've read by Miranda Bridges and I wanted to start with her book. I loved it. She never disappoints and this book rocked. The character of Autumn was kinda understated and I know she was intelligent and a gentle Southern belle. She had me cheering for her from the beginning. Her instructor was perfect and so intense. Sexy times were awesome. The whole book was. I'm definitely reading the rest and thank you all for putting them out together

Another great book to add to the series. I was really looking forward to Autumn’s book tthe most and I was not disappointed. Such an intriguing and captivating storyline, which kept me thoroughly entertained. The story moved at a good pace and was a nice smooth read. Loved the characters. Mikaeus and Autumn were complete opposites but they do say opposites attract. Mikaeus is the possessive alpha who confuses himself trying to find reason for his attraction to Autumn. And Autumn, the adorable nerd you can’t help but love. I really loved these two.

Another great addition to the series

I love how each of the authors are transitioning into different main characters while the overall plot is progressing. I haven’t noticed any context or continuity errors which is usually always an issue when multiple authors come together for a book or a series. And honestly, it’s hard to actually tell that the first 3 books were written by different authors since it seems as if their writing styles are similar.

I am excited to read the 4th book so I can read about the Silver Fox Headmaster!! 🤤

Nerds rule!

So, first off I have to admit I read the books out of order. It didn't really matter too much but I wish I had done it in the right order. I will definitely go back and read the first one next. On to the good stuff. Loved the book. I really liked the relationship the women have with each other. I wanted to kick Mikaeus In the booty many times but he redeemed himself in the end. Please, please someone do something heinous to Irrok!

In book three of the Alien Warrior Academy series, Autumn and Mikaeus have their time in the spotlight. Reckless features a physically inept human woman (but hacker extraordinaire) and the security commander who's attraction to her is undeniable. Private lessons lead to some sexy moments but will the emotional heartache of betrayal be overcome? Will the actions of a traitor destroy the future of Lokar? Only when trust is given will love become all.

I'm really enjoying this series. And academy that trains aliens and humans together to fight I gets another intrusive alien race .Autumn and Mikeaus another favorite couple to get to know.

Just think Mikeaus Is royalty but he's abdicated from his responsibility.

Autumn is a human hacker sent to this alien academy to train for upcoming fight.

When these two meet it doesn't go well. Read on for future award but funny meetings.

Mikaeus and Autumn

I live that she has issues cursing throughout this series. Her roommates try everything to change her ways. Mikeaus is harsh and rude to her. He is trying to hide his attraction for her and it comes off as very rude. I love Elana. She lets her guard down around Autumn. They make plans. Dangerous plans. Mikeaus finally admits defeat and falls for Autumn. I loved it.

Another great addition to a very enjoyable and entertaining series. I loved Mikaeus and Autumn together and their ability to eventually overcome their preconceived ideas about each other. The action and the storyline continue to unfold and tempt me to keep purchasing book after book. Nothing like a much loved book family!

How to rate a story where I hated relationship between love interests?
The story itself, or underlying plot is very simplistic and borders on childish. World building is nonexistent, relationships between humans and aliens have no cultural or other problems, all is very simple and smooth. The only real or interesting part is interaction between 4 female friends. Now, the love plot. It was horrible. I hated every step of it. If reader is supposed to relate to characters, then I hope to God, I will never have a relationship like that. It was unhealthy at best. Autumn was such a sweet character and I was rooting for her own story, yet this is not what I wanted. Her man insults her from beginning, thinks about forcing her to submit to him, dreams about breaking her, is incredibly possessive, jealous and overcontrolling. I guess his "need" to care for her or protect her was supposed to be the selling point, but let's be fair- those are the traits of abusive man who wants abusive relationship. Not partnership. Someone to have completely under their thumb, like a slave without personality. Autumn never should have been with him and definitely should have ended things, when he turned against her, for good. Of course I didn't get my satisfaction. She was never even allowed to process her feelings, but manhandled to do as he wanted. No choice, zero respect. How was I supposed to root for them?
So, yes, I hated every scene they had together apart from one where she leaves him with scatching sentence.

Do I recommend this book? Do you think abusive, no freedom relationship is the epitome of love? Do you like childish plot or no world building? If you prefer your storys as uncomplicated and simple as possible, then go ahead. Give it a go. But is is by no definition a good alien-human romance book.

Strong but soft female

In this book, Autumn seems to bring out the worst in two of her teachers. She does stand up to the bullies. She is a strong woman but is still a soft hearted person. She goes out on a limb to help save her planet and ends up finding more than she bargained for. Good read.
