'A guidebook to making the absolute best of one of life's toughest transitions ... I wish I'd read it ten years ago' - William Porter, author of Alcohol Explained
With questions around the 'Mummy Wine O'clock' culture growing, Love Yourself Sober explores how a problematic relationship with alcohol can easily develop, particularly with time-poor mothers, how to recognise it, and what to do about it. Kate and Mandy provide a supportive 'sober curious' environment, encouraging active participation using positive psychology, coaching methods and workbook features to help women make changes for themselves.Love Yourself Sober is an empowering book for women and mothers to put their own self-care at the centre of a healthy and positive life-change.
Love Yourself Sober is a super-helpful guide for those who want to get and stay sober...epecially before they hit rock bottom.
Kate and Mandy tell it like it is ... that women (particularly moms) are being marketed, and lied, to about the ways in which alcohol can solve all of our problems. And they back it up with scientific facts and real-world advice. Moreover, the authors explain how alcohol doesn't take the edge off. When used in a problematic way, alcohol only makes us feel more shame, more depression, more loneliness, more tiredness and less alive.
Kudos to the Love Sober duo who are making sobriety look cool. I only wish I had an easy-to-read resource like this when I was ready to break up with booze more than 3.5 years ago. I've pre-ordered several copies of the U.S. version for myself as well as friends who are gray-area drinkers and reconsidering their relationship with alcohol.
This latest "quit lit" book is a must-read for moms who no longer want to "rosé all day."
I am thankful for the opportunity to review an advanced copy of the U.K. version or this book in exchange for my unbiased review.
I hated this book! If your sober curious, I would avoid. The authors come across as very judgemental and mainly focus around all the major health issues (which most will already know) and you can't help feel guilt whilst drinking after this! I stopped at 94 pages in and deleted the book, if anything it made me want to drink more 🙃
This book is one of the reasons I’ve managed to stay sober until today! I’m not a mum but it helped so much especially with the activities at the end of each chapter.
Are you a mom wondering about your relationship with alcohol? If 'Mummy wine culture' is a bit too engrained in your life, then this book is a must.
Kate and Mandy are authentic and know their stuff. I have followed their podcast for over a year... they are normal moms who were in the grey area of drinking. Like thousands of us. Not rock bottom by any means, but at the same time, uncomfortable with their drinking.
If you are looking for real strategies to reframe your drinking, this is an easy to read and practical book.
