I'm just a girl in love with literature. My love affair with romance novels started with I was 13 and has flourished into an obsession. I've always been a writer. Even when I was a little girl, I always had a pen and a notebook poised to let something out. You Make Me Better is my first project that will be published and I am STOKED. My goal is to write stories surrounding positive black love, with a little humor tossed in.
I LOOVEDDD this. To me, this little story is one I could re-read over and over again. I’m a simple girl. Irilin was so uptight. She’s the sleek bun wearing, working while on vacation type. She begrudgingly went on vacation with her sister and sister’s best friend. It’s there she met Mirror. He, too, is a type A kinda guy, though he’s more relaxed than her. Before they even met, they had a routine: She’ll have breakfast while working on the computer and he’ll have his breakfast while reading paper. All while exchanging glances at one another. After being tricked and left in St. Lucia, she formed a bond with Mirror, as he was the only face she’s familiar with since her sister left. As much as it pained Irilin to admit it, she was into Mirror. The attraction was evident and strong. The more Mirror got to know Irilin, the more he realized how deep-rooted her trauma was from her past relationship. Mirror is definitely book bae. I love a quiet, observant, stoic man. He was smart, educated, and an entrepreneur. He was also big and tall. So big and tall he couldn’t fit on a king-size bed. He was so extremely patient with Irilin, and their love was so unproblematic. I love how he taught her, how he reassured her, how he loved her. This was a super fun read, and I loved every page. The Mason clan is always a treat!
My Soul's Reflection was really good. It gives you romance without the added drama. The title is very fitting because, Mirror fell in love with his female counterpart. The chemistry between him and Irilin was amazing. They couldn't've been more perfect for one another. I'd been wondering why Mirror had such a surly disposition and, come to find out, there was no childhood trauma that made him that way. It was just his personality. But, that surly disposition and rude behavior actually became a source of healing for Irilin. She was dealing with some unhealed trauma from a previous relationship and Mirror slowly helped her to a place of healing and peace. I loved how he was so patient with Irilin and her willingness to be less ridged and try different things. My Soul's Reflection was a great read but, it makes me sad because I'm one book from the end of this series and I'm not ready for it to end.
This is my favorite couple so far. I loved how both Irilin and Mirror brought a different side out of each other. It was just a sweet read. Irilin was a workaholic and a previous extremely controlling and emotionally abusive relationship changed her view on relationships. In fact she just did her best to avoid them all together. Mirror was emotionally unavailable most of the time and thus far nothing or no one had caused him to feel differently. That is until Irilin. It was interesting to see two people that didn't seem to enjoy much of anything find joy in each other. Mirror was so sweet with her. Irilin had a lot of baggage and he was patient and helped her move past her preconceived thoughts and helped her just be open to life. Irilin literally lit up Mirror's life. He loved being around her. He craved her presence. Together they found themselves in an easy love that neither thought was possible. I'm always a fan of unproblematic couples and I hope we get to hear more about them in the future.
What a fitting title for Mirror and Irilin’s story because they were a true reflection of each other. They were literally the female/male version of each other. Both swore off love and relationships for their own reasons but after a few days on an island and letting the wind blow them where it may, they slowly knocked down each others walls that were built ford tough! This was a cute story with a mix of comedy that I’ve come to love from AshleyNicole!
So Irilin worked my last nerve and Elyce Anthony’s voice didn’t help the situation at all. So the author continued with Elyce and Sean throughout the entire series and I continued to cringe my way through as the stories progressively got better.
I really don’t know who was worse, Noura or Irilin. Mirror and Lee had the patience of Job while dealing with these two women. Irilin was this tight wound up ball of a workaholic and once again, it took a Mason man to get her right. I guess it helped that Mirror recognized himself in her, all their up tight and workaholic tendencies. 30 almost identical men, all with BDE just walking around slinging 🍆 like they passing out coupons for a free Wendy’s frosty. You’ll definitely fall in love and end up pregnant, which to my surprise no one has yet.
I was literally obsessed with everything about this book! A workaholic getting her groove back was just what I needed. I truly loved how patient Mirror was with Irilin. I understood both of their reservations but they were perfect for each other. And the spicy scenes were so satisfying.
Mirror and Irilin were peak Type A lol! I love that they were both able to let their guard down and let love lead the way! Also AshleyNicole still had so many funny moments in this book with the Mason crew! I loved it all! Sad I only have one book left in this series! I definitely recommend this book!
Ok this is my favorite so far in the Mason Family Saga! I do love Mirror and all his moods! Lol Even Irilin stuck up self. She was a tough one to crack and to have these two tough souls connect was fun to watch. They played off each other beautifully. I loved this story. I tough man always loves hard when he does find it.
I can never have too much of them Mason men in my life. I really enjoyed Mirror and Irilin together. So much alike but different at the same time. It was a refreshing slow burn that heated up quick and I can’t wait to finish the Mason clan.
Who would have thought that Mirror's story would end up as my favorite Triplets story?!😀 Mirror really met his match in Irilin! I've been wondering what his surly backstory is and Ashley did a great job of breaking his personality down via an unlikely, but extremely helpful source. Irilin's story is definitely a testament to how unhealed trauma can affect you long past the initial pain and in ways you may not readily recognize. And it was amazing to see a not-so-surly Mirror slowly walk Irilin to a place of healing and peace. And as much as I love The Masons, I'm glad the story focused primarily on Mirror and Irilin and not so much the cousins interactions this time. The few scenes on vacation were hilarious and just enough. This isn't what I was expecting Mirror 's story to be, but it was so perfect, I think I have a new favorite Ashley Nicole book! Definitely 5 🌟 Stars!
Mirror, who fell in love with his female reflection of himself was captivating. Their chemistry was amazing and moving and healing... I also adore that she was so far outside of her comfort zone and winning! That - "You better not tell me I'm beautiful" took me out along with every interaction Mirror had with his brothers, his parents, his ex and his new love. This short delivered in everyway. I can't wait until Taylor's book and please that one has to be a full length saga. 💯. Congratulations!
Mirror and Irilin were pretty close to being the same person. All they did was work and be a little too serious. The fact that they were able to open each other up to different possibilities was both comical and fitting. These two were absolutely made for each other.
This is such a cute story. The back & forth between the two was hilarious 😂. Mirror is less vocal than his twin brothers, but his personality and dry humor kept things interesting. Although, I also would have needed him to express how he felt a little bit better 😆
This love story was so cute to me..They both had some things to work through…But when you find a person willing to work through it with you!!! That’s that REAL love Auntie Mary was talking about😍😍🥹…Plus these two were just like each other just in different gender…Andddd the simple fact the Irie can tell the trips apart but NOBODY else but Grandma can is 👏🏽 👏🏽 🔥
Overall good read ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’ve never read a grumpy x grumpy before but I loved Mirror and Irilin’s set up. I loved the back story on Irilin and why her demeanor is the way it is. Mirror getting her out of her comfort zone was too cute. Definitely recommend
Even though these characters are so much alike, they are made for each other. The trauma from the past definitely hindered her life. And Mirror is just what she needs.
The author’s note mentioned that this book is supposed to be something cute minus the drama. I really appreciate that. I love when the romance just unfolds without drama. I was happy to read about the triplets. They always make me laugh. I really enjoyed this book. Their love story feels good.
My Soul’s Reflection is book 5 in the Mason family series by AshleyNicole. This novella is about Kharon “Mirror” Mason 1/3 of the Mason triplets and attorney Irilin Maxwell. If Irilin is about one thing, it’s her business. Mirror is about his family and his business. These two are some serious hard workers that rarely find time to relax. Irilin is guilted into this 2 week trip by her younger sister. Mirror is on a 2 week vacation because it’s the Mason’s annual cousins trip. Mirror and Irilin are early rises which allows them to create a routine of eye flirting during breakfast. The first words these two exchange are hilarious 🤣 Irilin would be me! The real fun begins when their families leave! 4 days in St. Lucia with a Mason man, a great time is guaranteed! It allows pencil skirt Irilin to completely unwind. Neither Mirror nor Irilin are looking for something serious or so they say 👀 I really enjoyed this book, I love that each Mason triplet is not like the other. The detail of Irilin’s background story was so helpful in understand ing her need for control. I couldn’t have asked for anything more. I love the Mason family and I can’t wait whoever’s story is next! P.s. I had so much more to say but no spoilers 🤐
Well, I have a new Mason to love! MIRROR! OMG! Glad that we were finally able to learn a bit more about him, as his brothers are the mouthy ones. 😃 Mirror, laid back, and doesn't let anything bother him or worry him actually. He just doesn't care one way or the other. His interest is peaked when he sees a buttoned up woman while on vacation. Irillin, is all about structure, making sure her time is well spent, and no fun at all! These two meeting and getting to know each other, was hysterical. They are so much alike, but different at the same time. Mirror, gets Irillin to loosen up and have a bit of fun in her structured life, while learning why she is that way. Irrilin, shows Mirror to get in touch with not only his feelings, but how to communicate that to another person. Mirror is all about his actions, and feels that they should say what his words don't. However, everyone is not able to read his cues, especially Irillin. She needs to hear him, and be clear about his words and intent. This was a beautiful love story! Great read! 👍👍👍
So I (unknowingly) read the final book first and enjoyed it so much! However, after starting from the beginning of this saga I now see I could’ve read from any point & loved either of these books first & would’ve probably felt the same about either one but reading them grouped is kind of repetitive. It’s a pattern where I feel like the names & characters are switched around but it’s quite the same story. Girl w/ little to no family ties/connections & some sort of past relationship issue, she meets one of the Masons, he likes her, she likes him, girl goes after him, he makes her feel saved (slightly vice versa) & boom they’re in love. It doesn’t make them bad it just makes binge reading the series feel almost unnecessary. I’m still going to finish the second to last one & I’m still gonna support bc I love supporting AA authors. I think maybe I’ve gotten too caught up to stop so that says something but it was sort of disappointing to see way too many similarities. Still look forward to reading & comparing the rest of the stories though. Again, too caught up.
Once again another one of the Mason gang has found love. I always enjoy the Mason family books and this one just as much. I am glad the last triplet has a lady now so all three can enjoy being in a relationship.
Mirror and Irilin were practically the male and female versions of each other. Their personalities just mesh together. I thought it was ironic that Mirror helped Irilin come out of her shell. I was sad at how much a past relationship affected Irilin but Mirror was able to work through the issues. She was finally able to let go so she can feel and be loved. I loved how Mirror had such a positive change that his mother had to make sure it was him by his birthmark. Mirror and Irilin have really enlightened each other.
I am always looking forward to the next Mason family love story. The closeness and the joy of the family are always fun to read.
Mirror and Irilin meet while on vacation. They shared some days together, but Irilin didn't want more, until she returned home and couldn't get Mirror out of her mind. Deciding to have Mirror in her life Irilin went after him. They decided to see what happens between them, but Irilin still has her doubts because Mirror doesn't communicate his feelings. When Mirror past shows up and tell him why they didn't make it, he knows what he has to do to keep Irilin. Mirror and Irilin were so great together, they both knew what they wanted, but didn't know how to communicate it to each other. I loved seeing them work through their past and building a future together. They were both hardworking people, but now they wanted more. This series just gets better and better as it goes on!!!
My Soul’s Reflection: A Mason Family Novella by Ashley Nicole
Drink: Soul Reviver Cocktail
Music: I Was Made For Loving You by Tori Kelly
Irilin Maxwell: If, “make it plain,” was a person it would be Irilin. She was a complex woman who just wanted things to be simply told to her so she wouldn’t have to come up with scenario in her head.
Kharon “Mirror” Mason: If, “unbothered,” was a person it would be Mirror. Nothing phases this man. He’s truly one of them, “If it don’t make dollars it don’t make sense kind of n*ggas.”
Book five of the Mason Family Saga was so different from all the others. It had a completely different vibe. This one proves when you find your person it will be clear to you. This one is a must read for sure.
Wow! I like Mirror & Irilin together. ..Mirror therapy is evolution. My Soul’s Reflection” title is apropos‼️ Conviction is humbling (even in literary fiction), because initially I was annoyed with and judgmental of Irilin neurotic tendencies. Only to discover the impetus of her anxieties. ..this $!?@🤬. Hopefully, that BSOG name will resurface in a future Ashley Nicole project. I’m going to need retribution or therapy 🤦🏾♀️..There a major a$$ whoopin’ archived with his name written on it…to be delivered by a real “man”…and I can’t wait 🍿🥤🤷🏾♀️‼️ Thereafter, I’m curious to know where’s Irilin’s father? She why didn’t she confide in him? Also, as an attorney why didn’t she file a grievance with ethics board?
Whew child, Kharon- better know as Mirror, was as complex and complicated a man as expected. He would need to have someone who mirrored (pun intended) his personality, or at the least, complemented him. Irilin matched his actions and gave a little extra special on the side. The triplets made an appearance to grace the story with their unrelenting level of comic relief. Who would've thunk a Mason Jar filled with beautiful men would evolve into this level of happiness for readers. If you haven't heard about them, you'll need to get a move on...
When the heroin said to the hero, " I just had an uncontrollable urge to see you". My entire heart dropped. I love the Jason's and have enjoyed each of their stories. Mirror aka has met his match in Irilin. This journey between Kharon and Irilin was so perfect. I usually believe that opposites attract, so to have the two of them be so much alike!!!!!!! The sexual chemistry was explosive! This was good beginning to the end. It did not seem like a novella! I wonder how Irilin is gonna blend with the Mason family?
OMG this was so GOOD!!!! I was so happy to see that AshleyNicole had dropped a new Mason novella and it was so worth the wait! *Quick sidebar* I was so jealous of them being in the Caribbean while I'm missing the islands due to this damn pandemic! Ugh.
But back to the review. Mirror and Irilin were so stinking CUTE, even though they were agitating my NERVES the entire book! So glad we got his story. Mirror HAS to be a Gemini! He just HAS to be! The personality traits are profound in this novel. But yeah, this one has moved into the number one spot as my favorite Mason novel. Yup. It's better than Rod and Jerzi's story. I'll definitely be rereading this one in a couple of days.
Oh, one more thing. I was so glad to see that we finally got a person that could tell the triplets apart. It lowkey bugged me how NONE of the family members could tell them apart, even their parents. I knew there was something there that could determine who was who. It just took someone to finally pay attention.
Mirror has finally spoken! I love a quiet nonchalant type guy. He will always seem to surprise you with his response when you think you know what's going to happen. I love how Mirror helped Irilin to overcome her past trauma and helped her to see that living in such rigidity and time constructs is not living at all. I enjoyed reading about their love unfolding and the self realization they both made about things they needed to change to embrace this new relationship that they both needed and wanted.
