The Tension of Transition: 30 Days to Help You Navigate from 'Here' to Your 'Promised Land'

Rate this book
People say that God never shuts one door without opening another one. That may well be true. But they never tell you about the hallway in-between. In 2016, Craig Cooney and his family walked away from leading a thriving, growing church in inner-city Dublin. All they knew was that God had spoken and it was time to move on. However, they had no idea what would be waiting for them on the other side. It was during the next two years that they experienced 'the tension of transition' - that 'in-between' place where you know you can't go back, but you're not sure how to move forward. This book takes you on their journey, opening up the challenges they faced and lessons they learned. It covers the • What is transition and how can I identify it in my life? • Signs of shifting seasons. * Navigating through the confusion and uncertainty of the'in-between'. • Waiting on God with confident expectation. • Necessary Leaving the past behind. • How to discern and embrace the new thing God is doing. • Stepping out of stuck. • Finding and following God s favour in your life. • Open and closed Doors. • Hearing the voice of God.

Amazing Book

If you are feeling restless or uneasy this book will likely feel like it was written for you! Each of the days draws deeply on God’s word (both written and prophetic) to encourage and instruct those who are reading. It’s divided into 30 one day chunks as it’s meant to be stewed in rather than wolfed down.... and it’s worth taking that time!

This book read my mail, and it was very rude. This book is a MUST READ for anyone going through a season of transition, so much practical wisdom that has been lived out by the author. I’m grateful to have read this book when I did

I took my time reading this devotional and it was a good move. I seemed to read the right chapter at just the right moment. There’s a wealth of wisdom and insight in this book, and I recommend it to anyone who’s found themselves in a situation they didn’t expect to be in. Whether circumstances are forced on you, or whether you begin to experience your own sense of unease, this book will help you think and pray through the decisions and actions needed to transition successfully.

Just one side note to author and publisher - there’s a few spelling errors and other typos that need fixing up. Happy to help if you need a proofreader!

Excellent book - the reality of walking out this life as a Christ follower - there are transitions. Craig shares his experiences and wisdom, relating with us how the Bible shows us living proof that life can be tough, but with perseverance, prayer and walking through each season of life, we will have transition which can pull us into despair or a designed life. Fantastic book, (I've underlined SO much of this book and journaled my experiences as well. very relatable and God centered!

A very valuable guide to life’s journey

I’ll be reading this book over and over. It will take many passes to digest all the solid food for Christian living that Craig has captured in this wonderful resource. I wish I had something like this earlier in my life so that I didn’t take so many wrong turns.
Thank you Craig for your candour and authenticity in letting all who read this book see that it was not an academic exercise in theology but a survival manual to accompany the Scriptures.

Very on point and helpful for my transition into my promise land!

I was so ministered to and drawn everyday to this book as my devotional for a. Month. It helped me during my month of transition into my promised land. I couldn’t believe a book was available for exactly where I was in my life with Christ. I highly recommend this powerful life changing book!

Prophetic Insights for anyone in transition

I loved how in tune with Holy Spirit and scriptures this devotional is. I didn’t read it consistently over 30 days, but every single day I picked it up, felt it minister to me and speak directly into my life. Encourage anyone who feels they are in a season of transition to read this.

I’ll be honest, I think this book is helpful for those in seasons of transition, but I couldn’t get past how many editing errors were in the book which are distracting for my Type A personality 🙃. There are also a lot of cliche “catchy” christian phrases and most of the scripture references are a bit out of context. Overall, I could look past these things and still found it fruitful.

When I was gifted this book I didn't think it would be applicable to me at this time in my life but I was so wrong. It helped me to identify areas of transitions in my life and some that I needed to make. I highly recommend this book and learned so much from Craig Cooney's insights.

Needed for every person in transition

Loved the easy and bible based daily word. It challenged and encouraged me through my time of transition to keep my eyes on Jesus. In His will is the only place to be.
