Henley Blackwood. She’s loyal, fiercely independent, and the one girl I shouldn’t want. The ultimate temptation...my best friend’s younger sister.
I’ve been fighting my attraction to her since she graduated culinary school and started running the kitchen in my bar. There’s too much between us. Her age. My past. Our families. But lust burns through me like a shot of whiskey every time I catch a glimpse of her. When I wake up hungover with her beautiful body pressed against mine…
Temptation becomes much harder to resist.
Holden Sterling. He’s charismatic, wildly protective, and a guy I’ve known basically my whole life. My brother’s best friend…and technically my boss.
I’m not one of those girls who crushed on their older brother’s best friends. My upbringing didn’t allow for such trivial things. My priorities are about goals, not guys. I’ve got too many plans and things to prove. But I wake up with Holden after a night neither of us can remember…
Author of emotionally-gripping, contemporary romance, Kate Stacy’s novels feature sassy heroines, swoony heroes, life, love, friendship, and all the angst. When she’s not writing or spending time with her family and friends in small-town North Carolina, Kate can most likely be found nose deep in her Kindle. She stays up too late, swears too much, and loves too hard.
Whiskey Temptations is a stand-alone novel in the Love & Liquor series by Kate Stacy. As I was reading the book, I kept getting the feeling that I was missing things and that if I had read the previous books I would have known what was going on way better, but this book is listed as the first in the series, so I was a little confused. As it turns out, the author has written the Stars Align series and it's about Holden's sisters.
This book is about Hanley and Gabriel who formed an unlikely but strong relationship. Gabriel is the person Hanley confided in, kept close in her life, shared her passions, and didn't see as an obstacle to her future. Oh wait, that's not the name of the dude who is supposed to be the hero of the novel. It's Holden. But like Hanley, we will keep him as an afterthought. The reason why I am disappointed in this book is for its lack of actual romance between the characters. Let me give you an example.
One of Hanley's dreams is to publish her own cookbook. Can you guess which man learnt about it first? Gabriel. Not even her brother knew about it, but Gabriel did and to me, one aspect of the romance has to do with sharing your dreams with the other person. Also, Hanley thought of her relationship with Holden as a possible obstacle for her dreams and plans for the future and she was holding back, while at the same time, she was going out and doing stuff with Gabriel. He was the one to walk her home after work. They basically had a relationship without the horizontal mambo. She kept pushing and pushing Holden away, while Gabriel was always there for her and with her.
When the big drama moment came (you know the one where the couple breaks up) I got so mad that it was because of a secret Holden kept from the others. I thought of Hanley as a big hypocrite because she was unwilling to share a part of herself and yet she expected him to do the same. The grant gesture should have been done by her and not Holden. It was the final nail in the coffin for me. If Hanley had done even a tiny thing to show me that she actually cared for Holden I would have given a higher rating to the book, but now the only thing I can think of is that Holden deserved better.
Holden and Henley want to love but they have so much to conquer to accept their love. Holden was abandoned by his last girlfriend, all she left behind was a letter. However, he has a secret causing things to get complicated. Holden has been attracted to Henly but never acted on it because she is his best friend's brother. The night after his sister’s wedding, he wakes up with her in his bed, he lets his friend know and he gives him his blessing. Henley is a driven woman that runs the kitchen at his bar, she is focused only on her goals not friends or men. Holden’s sisters try to get her to rely on them as friends. She opened up a bit and developed an intriguing friendship with Gabirel, another bar employee, who helped their relationship in unseen ways.
Holden’s family is amazing and has taken in Henley, his grandmother cooks with Henley and offers her insight or help. I enjoyed the antics at Sunday brunches and outings. They went through a lot of hard times trying to stay together, but there always seemed to be hope that they could both accept their pasts. His family tried to help them stay together, but sometimes got in the way. Holden getting everyone together to help him make a grand gesture at the end is so amazingly sweet. It demonstrated how his family will help him with anything and proved his love.
This was a very interesting story with ups and downs, that kept you engaged and wondering why some characters behaved the way they did. I highly recommend it.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Holden Sterling has been in love before but she walked out and broke his heart. So he put up a wall and didn't let anyone in. He and his best friend since childhood, Jax are partners in the bar/grill they own. They have decided to have Jax's sister Henley run the grill part of it since she graduated from culinary school. Henley Blackwood has plans and feels she needs to prove herself. Her upbringing was rough and has left scars. But after one night together with Holden there's an attraction that they both feel. Can Holden get past the age difference and the fact she's his best friend's little sister? There's so much between them, will it work out or tear them both apart?
There are other characters that I hope we see a story for. Gabriel is Henley's best friend and I would love to hear more about him and also Noah. First time reading this author and I wasn't disappointed, great book. 5 stars
This is my first time reading Kate Stacy, and I am hooked. This book is a continuation of the Stars Align series. Even though it is nice to read books in order, Kate writes in a way that you don't feel like you should have read the other books before reading this one.
Holden wakes up in a strange bed, not alone and not remembering what happened the night before. Holden uses his opportunity only to find out that his opportunity is his best friend's sister. Since Henley came back to Blackwood, Holden has realized how much of a woman she has become. He vows he will not let any chances slip by and will take what he wants.
Henley cannot believe she was just given the best orgasm of her life from her brother's best friend. Many things have happened in her past that she doesn't know if she is willing to open up to the man who makes her feel things she has never felt before.
I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. Henley and Holden have known each other for years. He is her boss and a best friend and partner with her brother. That alone would be enough to keep them apart. Their baggage of the past is going to get in the way. Both have reasons to deny their feelings but that only lasts for so long. You cannot help but root for these two. Regardless of what they do not say, their actions show how great they are together

Whiskey Temptations is my first book from Kate Stacy and I'm in love.
Henley Blackwood and Holden Sterling is fighting against each other due to certain circumstances. They want each other but things are holding them back till that one night they can't remember.
I really enjoyed this first book in this new series. If you haven't read it, I suggest you to go and do it now. Go on, go and read it.
We officially have the long-awaited story for Holden Sterling! Repeat we finally have Holden’s story. We learn in Whiskey Beginnings that Holden thought he found someone to love and to love him back. That is not the case. He holds a secret that no one knows about. But there is one person who he has fought an attraction to since she came home two years ago. His best friends’ little sister. Yeah, no, don’t go there. But the temptation is there and one night after his sister’s wedding that is exactly who he wakes up with. Henley is the spit fire that runs the kitchen at 80 Proof. She takes the food and takes it to another level. Once these two give into the temptation and gets a blessing from Henley’s brother. They run like fire on ice. Holden is insanely protective of anyone that is near Henley but when he does get to close, he shuts down. Can one battle the demons of their past and realize that they are good together?
It is not needed to read the Stars Align series or Whiskey Beginnings to enjoy this one. But some of our favorite meddling sisters and friends are back to make sure that Holden gets this one right.
Holden and Henley had so much love to give, but they both hid their hearts behind brick walls fortified with rebar and concrete. It felt like every time they got close to making it work, something popped up to push them apart. And yet, I still had to know what came next. Between Gabriel’s unlikely BFF-ness, family and friends getting in the way while trying to help, and past hurts walking into their present (for both Henley and Holden), they sure managed to tear themselves down a lot. But along with the misery they subjected everyone to, there was humor and hope. Hope that they could both make peace with their pasts, since they certainly couldn’t change them. Hope that they’d finally get it right and not let their stubbornness lead the way. And oh, hope that Gabriel didn’t end up eating Holden’s fist with some of his stunts! But Gabriel was also Holden’s biggest ally, even if Holden didn’t want to see it too often. Luckily, it all worked out in the end and we got a peek at Noah’s story to come. I’d like to know exactly what’s in store for him!
The perfect combination of sweet and steamy, I was hooked from the very first page. Filled with family drama and secrets that fuel insecurities, we get to watch how the oldest Sterling sibling gets his girl. I loved Henley and Holden and cannot wait for the next one in this series.
This was a great book and the first from this author. The storyline kept me turning pages and i was able to finish it in one day. Holden and hennley has such great chemistry and totally belong together.
Whiskey Temptations is my first book by Kate Stacy, and it was such a great book! I will be reading more of this author.
The storyline kept me hooked from the beginning; I was able to finish it in one sitting. Henley & Holden's story was such a sweet one.
Henley is a determined girl, and she works hard to achieve all her goals; she's a workaholic with no time for distractions. Everything she went through in her past left scars and made her build some walls around her heart; Henley only allows one person in, and that's her brother. After one unexpected night with Holden, the attraction between them grows, for once she starts questioning if she should finally let someone close to her.
Holden knows what love is but the only time he felt that for someone, he ended with a broken heart. Holden build some walls around his heart just like Henley did, he blames himself for everything that happened, and he doesn't think he will ever be ready to give love another chance. Despite everything, he feels an attraction toward Henley, but he doesn't want to give in since she's the little sister of his best friend; everything changes after that unexpected night with Henley, and he can't keep denying his feelings.
Would they be able to stop their past from controlling their future and give their love a chance?
Henley & Holden are just perfect together; they have so much love to give, and I loved seeing then grow individually, as well as seeing them grow as a couple. I went through a lot of emotions with this book, but I loved every second of it.
This book is the first book in the Love & Liquor series. I can't wait to see what's next; this book was the perfect combination of sweet & steamy I will totally recommend it.
The number guy rule, don’t fall for your best friends little sister, no matter what. But that is exactly what Holden did. After a night of drinking Holden woke up naked in the bed of a woman and he doesn’t remember how he got there. After fooling around with her he finally sees her face and he knows, he’s going to be in trouble, cause his bedmate is his best friend, Jackson’s, little sister Henley. While Henley doesn’t remember what happened the night before, she does know that they didn’t have sex and even after explaining that nothing happened, to Jackson ran out of her apartment so fast there might as well have been a Jackson shaped hole in the door. Despite knowing having a crush on her big brothers best friend and business partner, and not to mention her boss is a bad idea on so many levels she can’t forget their kiss. Holden tries to put what happen between him and Henley behind him but he quickly finds that she’s hard to resist. Is there too much in their way for Henley and Holden to make this one night of whiskey fueled temptations a real relationship? Whiskey Temptation is the first book that I have read by Kate Stacy and I can’t wait to go to her other books, in particular her Stars Align series because that series is connected to this series. I really enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to see what’s next for Kate.
Prepare to have your heart pulled and your soul tangled! This is Henley and Holdens story and what a story is weaved! These two have been side eyeing for a hot second and each have baggage that is holding them back. But they are two strong willed characters who want what the heart wants and it is a drink that goes down so smooth! If you have not read any of Kate Stacy books this is a great one to start with. I have never read her before and I was pleasantly captivated with her writing!

Whiskey Temptations is book 1 in the new Love & Liquor series written by the talented author Kate Stacey. Is my opinion that you need to read first the Stars Align series. I was looking forward to read Holden's story. So this is Holden Sterling and Henley Blackwood book. This was a story that kept me glued to my kindle and made me fell even more in love with all the characters. It was a worthwhile read, that I would be happy to recommend to any book lover. Can't wait for book 2, Noah's story!!!!
Whiskey Temptations by Kate Stacy. Henley and Holden bring intense chemistry and heavy heat to this story. I enjoyed this story and thought it had a good mix of drama, personal conflicts, witty banter, steamy scenes, along with dual POV. Good one click pick choice if you are looking for something steamy, full of drama and many feels. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
4 1/2 stars I loved reading this book. It had everything I liked in s story to make it fun and inviting. The characters are lovable. They each have things in their past that has caused them to be a bit broken and in his case, reluctant to be hurt again. It was a beautifully crafted story that drew me in and made me a believer of their love.
I requested a copy of this book so I could provide an honest review.
Its just a kiss.. Reading about the intense feelings in this book.He fights his feelings. She ignores the thumbs. I welcomed the trials, of familuarity and forbidden aspects.. The emotional confusion and the unexpected passion. The chemistry between the H and h is undeniable and unexpected. Connecting with the characters may come easy in this story, following the plot might not be

I only read this book because book 2 is supposed to be tied to another book I read. This book says book 1 but it’s not. There’s a lot of story tied to another. This book started strong for me and I really liked it. But Henley isn’t a strong character. Holden is a punching bag for everyone. The cliched fight was the end of this book for me. I read a couple more chapters and quit. I didn’t read the end because there’s no redeeming Henley or even Jaxson.
Not the typical bar life, they are family they chose. Learning to let go of insecurities and the past. So much drama and heat. I loved everything about this extended family. I highly recommend this book to others.
Funny that the random book I chose, the one I had just read had a Holden, and there’s the name again, fun synchronicity. Funny how his drunken dream almost turned out a bit similar for their first date. Sounds like they all had some tough things to go through but they figured it out and didn’t hurt each other too much in the process. I really thought that one of the surprises was going to be a naming of one of the beers.
