A contemporary romance with a dash of history and a bit of SciFi, The Wellspring is the twelfth book in the Kaitlyn and the Highlander series.

I have enjoyed these stories, this one however really left me unhappy and wanting. I felt like not a lot got resolved and more questions were created, I am hoping the next books will start to resolve plots and character journeys.
****SPOILERS ARE POSSIBLE PROCEED WITH CAUTION *******
Now we are left with the entire crew back in time at Magnus’s favorite castle, hoping to be able to live his life with his family and friends, keep his children safe, and live his days loving Kaitlyn. From his previous history of not having it easy I am guessing things are not going to be that easy.
I was really hoping for some more kids between Magnus & Kaitlyn, He is after all from the time where families were large. I feel like the situation with Isla was glanced over and not fully developed. Not sure what’s going on with a few of the supporting characters, they do a lot of really unbelievable things without a good backstory being revealed. Then just when I thought the story would start revealing some sort of resolution, a status update of sorts to let us know that everyone would be okay or to hang on because more chaos was coming.....the story ended.
So, I was left with a bad taste in my mouth, a story full of unanswered questions, characters who seem to be existing with no purpose, a King in Exile, A new character who has drastically changed everyone’s future, A crazy art collecting mother, and a story largely focused on time travel that the author is now going to change.
This may be where I leave the series ..... 2.5 stars (Mostly because I adore sexy highlanders)
Lots of time travel to keep peace in the kingdom. A good departure from the prior “bodice ripping” books in this series. There was more about the relationships with this “family”.
A tale with epic plot twists through out all times!
A tale with Highlander’s, past, present and futuristic Villians, family and friends brave epic plot twists of time..enjoy the ride, start with the first book and read they this 12th installment.
By now we have had 12 seasons to love and hate the core crew of characters. Scream at them not to go downstairs by themselves!(scary movie reference)...
hold on to your backsides it is a fabulously mixed emotional rollercoaster of ride!
This was another fun book to read in this series. If you find all the fighting a bit boring at least there is minimal in this book. The humor is appreciated! I can not even imagine how your write a series especially this long!! To make each book interesting and entertaining and feel complete as far as it goes and then make the next one contiguous and do it all over again but continue the story -- monumental undertaking!! Well done!! Can't wait for the next one.
Diana Knightley has done it! I couldn’t put these books down. I prefer Audible to listen But was so happy I felt like I was eyewitness to much of what was happening! Truly a gift! To experience Kaitlyn and Magnus lives! I want more! The ending was truly beautiful! I can’t wait to read about Maired. Thank you Diana! I felt a kindred spirit with you now!
Fun and fast read. The book is written simply and does draw you in to a story that includes lots of time travel. The reader gets to know the characters well. The main theme is loyalty, family, love - as well as having a fictional historical perspective that is fun. If you love Outlander and Scotland, these books will keep you busy enough. Its a good read for what it is, and has a large fan base.
This has been an amazing series, and I’ve just finished book nr. 12.
The story was slow and a bit boring at first, but it was important for the story. Then the middle was packed with action and very exciting things, which I really enjoyed reading. The ending was not great, but still good. I’m glad they got a happy ending although things weren’t really resolved. Therefore it left me with many questions and balls in the air.
Book 12 in the Kaitlyn & the Highlander series does not disappoint. The clear concise descriptions of locations totally transport the reader to not only another place on our planet but, also ancient and futuristic times. You shiver when it is frigid temperature. You almost get aches & pains when the character’s “Jump.” Interactions between parent’s & children are spot on. Yes, this is another “page turner!” Diana Knightley continues to create new chapters in her character’s story. I don’t know how she does it but, we are so glad she continues to do so!
From beginning to end, another amazing adventure with twists and turns and holy $&@!? moments that make you gasp and laugh and sigh. I don’t know how you have this all in your head and I just cannot wait to see what else you have in store for this crew. Well done and thank you for bringing us all on the ride! Can’t wait for the next one!
This is the 12th book in the Kaitlyn and the Highlander series and it doesn’t disappoint! Another roller coaster ride of emotions. It was exciting, funny, sad, and romantic. I highly recommend the entire series! If you are new to Kaitlyn and the Highlander you need to start with book 1 and each book gets better and better!
The continuing sags of Kate and Magnus. The adventures_, the fears. The amazing group they have as a family. Is the kingdom gone for good??? Doubtful. I really enjoy this series, it is heartwarming, skillfully written and makes me wonder if time travel will become something we may experience. Ok...I can dream. Enjoy
Diana continues to keep her readers enthralled and on the edge of our seats with twisting and turning plots and new characters. This book has added so much emotional maturity to the story, I am truly enjoying the wonderful journey Diana is taking us on. I am looking forward to the next books!!!
These books are amazing as each one draws you to the next. Love, loyalty, family and adventure with true friends. A support system that doesn't exist without respect means naught and these friends open their hearts, minds and form such comradery for adventures beyond their wildest imagination. Reading truly does open new horizons.
This was another great part of KATH’s journey and j can’t wait to see what’s in store for the group in the next book... Diana Knightley is an awesome author with superb ability to engage the reader and take them on epic journeys.
Just when things look like they might be settled down and everyone can be happy in the present, war breaks out in the future and not only are Kaitlyn and Magnus drawn into it but their children are also kidnapped and held prisoner. Lady Mariead is having her own time traveling issues. Magnus must go to the past to save the present and the future. Will he ever be able to feel safe again?
Where to start, Magnus and Kaitlyn home with their family where they have longed to be after being separated yet danger is still on the horizon and plans are set in motion to secure their future...for now
The Wellspring did not disappoint...except for the fact that I needed it to be longer!!! I could read about Kaitlyn and Magnus and their family all day! Fantastic series, fantastic author! Look forward to many more!
This entire series, 12 books thus far, was wonderful. The obvious comparison to Outlander aside, it’s more modern, funnier, rougher at times and also a bit SciFi. Super fun, I can’t wait for #13....
These books are so wild that I have a hard time remembering some of the references as I go along, and I spent a bit of this book wondering if I'd forgotten something important. It's a wild ride on its own, but I think this was the weakest in the series.
Very good read, know spoilers you want to find out what happens read the book. It takes you to do many centuries that sometime you have to read a chapter twice. Totally enjoyed every part of this book. Can't wait to get into the next three
Rescued from the past, kidnapped again, rescued again , almost dying no home to go to . The whole family gone to the past to live in Scotland. Really good book. 5 Stars review
Traversing the Centuries, through Dear of Wars and Struggle, r Characters show unbelievable Strength and Courage!!! Realities may Change...Yet not the LOVE, that Binds us All.
The kingdom is in ruins and Magnus has heart trouble. Not to fight Magnus went to 1557 to get the vessels as they first arrived. Now to hide them. His whole family and he went to 1706 to live in Kilchurn castle.
A story filled with love ,adventure, mystery, the characters are so real , you get lost in there story ,it is as if you are with them ,I have enjoyed every book in this series ,and once again can't wait for next one
