Cheyenne is at the crossroads. Who will sit on the Drow throne?
The blight is still ravaging Ambar’ogúl and spilling through the Border portals into Earth. It’s hard enough to discover the secrets in her father’s world that will force the Crown to step down.
Now Cheyenne has to battle the darkness on both sides of the Border and keep her old life running like normal.
With a traitor in the FRoE and war machines tearing through Virginia, who can the halfling trust? Who will get a chance for redemption?
Two different worlds are counting on the Goth Drow. What will it take to save them both?
Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore but I was born under a wandering star and have lived in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.
I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.
There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.
First of all let me say I like the premise of the book I just don’t like the characters. Including the titular character Cheyenne she’s headstrong, stubborn, doesn’t know how to use basic abilities such as healing spells another simple spells such as making fire. I’m not asking for her to be a superwoman but she should be above the rest of the characters since the book is about her she just seems ordinary. She also has a very abrasive personality and she is not very likable in fact most of the characters in this book are not likable. The title of the book implies that she grows stronger when, where in the book I finished the book I have not seen a change in her abilities. Some people may like this book because of her personality but I am done.
The Drow Grew Stronger is the fourth book in Goth Drow series by Martha Carr and Michael Anderle.
What even happened to the Crown in that boss fight? Are we going to find out later that Neros somehow saved her? Because that would the shittiest cherry on top of this craptastic sundae.
Honestly, my least favorite book of the series. It was mostly all build-up for the next book. Besides Bianca contracting the curse, and what I assume is some manifestation of the blight from L’zar’s banishment. Nothing of consequence truly happened.
I mean sure we finally found out Matthew’s uncle, Colonel Les Thomas, is the mastermind behind the FRoE’s involvement in anything loyalist related. But we’ve yet to bring him down. Another form of cutting out the rot?
Cheyenne needs to find someone to take her place on the Amborgul throne. Someway to shut down the untracked portals. Save all of the magicals from the blight, while clearing it from the land.
I enjoy this second trip across the Border. It was enlightening. And entertaining. But I’m much more ready to see how this all plays out and get some real measures in place to keep the bad shit from happening again.
Super good. Fast paced very creative. Loved the atmosphere set at the party. It explained much about that world. The 2nd half, far too much, joking and ribbing, and fighting and snarky comments that instead of adding actually got in the way of the story. They are in the prison and endless quips and analysis of issues, during, the operation. The professional anything gone. Which makes all credibility pretty much becomes non existent. Yes joke, some. But if there is no seriousness the story loses and gets lost in the fluff. Its not just bantering, it's too much. Way way too much. It would drive me nuts, and has to have to listen to diarrhea of the mouth. No purpose or even at cross purpose. Stops being about character building and moves into character discredibility. Overall these books are excellent seriously. One error does not sink the ship. Its still a fine ship.
Our passionate authors have seen fit to leave us BARELY hanging by our fingertips with this ?ending?!!! Now that our favorite Goth Drow is back with all her Four Star friends, we're left wondering about her cousin and his role going forward. Everything about this series just gets better with each book. Just don't keep me waiting long, because I'm old and the suspense might just kill me!! Seriously though, anyone with a love of magic should read this series, and everything else Martha and Michael have their fingers in! Keep up the great writing, and I am anxiously awaiting the next book.
Cheyenne is a Goth college chic with a predestined future that will change her life. Growing up with her famous single mother not knowing who her father is or how she came to be. Super advanced in tech but is working on her masters and college. She has a bbf Amber (aka a Fa e with not powers or is that another story hmm). The 1st book starts the story of Cheyenne's journey of accepts of herself and what she is meant to do to save everyone. Good Series-sold characters ..sold storyline..i do wish there was a lil more love connects made but all in all it was a Good Sunday afternoon read. Mrs. C.💋
So, I had heard about mindfulness in regards to food, but not exercise. I will have to look into that. Have been trying meditation as a way to relax and have used breathing exercises for my COPD.
Wonder if there's a mindfulness for reading or writing??? Reading is a way for me to visit other worlds, past, present and future. I get to meet new people in the characters written and I usually come away caring about them. I have laughed and cried while reading. I miss certain characters more than others. I will miss Cheyenne and Ember when this series is over.
What can I say to explain why you should read this book?
A little confusing in places, and a little depressing to read, but it grabs you and rips your mind into another world. A world of magic and creatures that have become part of life. Accepting them as true beings with their own personality becomes a part of your life and greatly enhances this world and the story continues.
I was happy with the first two books then we got face to face with her dad. Not a nice person. A real bastards, bastard in fact. Then it really went from half speed to full out. I really loved this book! Full out kick ass. Looking forward to the next book! I'm glad I stayed with this.
This book was a wild ride with a number of unexpected plot twists. Finally parts of the prophecies make sense. Also many questions from earlier books are answered. Plenty of action and snarky dialog.
Great story. Read in one sitting. I'm not a "critic" but I think you should try this series. Particularly if you enjoy stories with paranormals, magic, humans in the know, and fast moving action plots.
I love this story so much and the characters are just amazing I've never looked at it from this perspective before of a hero with a parent she despises and has to work with. Pretty amazing writing Howard S (the S stands for super fan)
Cheyenne just keeps getting further down the rabbit hole and her father is just downright confusing. Can she save the blighted land and restore it? You need to read this, it's awesome.
The badass drow halfling continues to kick ass, take names and blow stuff up! Surmounting all obstacles, she takes the fight to her opponents in a stunning end to this chapter!
Cheyenne has a *lot* to learn, and is still being kept in the dark more than she would like by L’zar. She is growing into her powers, gathering more followers, and definitely coming into her own.
I really have enjoyed this series, but I just can't finish this book. Snarky humor is great, but not when it is every other line. The dialogue is just not believable, and is so unbelievable it pulls me right out of the stork. It's unfortunate, because I like the plot and characters.
After a slow start, due to me probably, this book takes off and really rocks it! New creatures, epic fights, it has it all. It also sinks the hook deeply for the next book. Pre-order here I come.
I did a lot of skipping paragraphs and pages in this one
This book ended interesting, but the vast majority of it was painfully boring. I'm not exactly sure why. Maybe it was the delivery, or maybe just the content. I don't know, but I really REALLY hope the next one is better.
I liked it a lot, seems like every thing is working out for Cheyenne. The last book should be interesting to see if she rules, or if she pawns it off on some other magical.
I have been really enjoying this series. The characters are super fun and the world creation makes it so you want to live there. I recommend this book and series.
Its original, lots of action, but the dialogue lags so much in sections that I not only skipped pages, but chapters. The beginning and the end were pretty good. Overall I gave it three stars out of five.
I'm totally hooked on The Goth Drow and her insane group of friends. The story flies by it is so well written. The characters are so diverse that they leave you wanting more.
What a trip! An emotional ending for me. Not sure where Cheyenne will go from here. This book was a major adventure. Positive things have to be coming or ill be sad. Was a great read.
More great pulp fantasy. This team always delivers entertaining work for the reading pastime. Solidly reliable, rarely life altering reads are their stock in trade.
Man what an ending. I was wondering how it was going to work out. It's pretty cool but there's still a lot of work to be done. I can't wait to read the next one.
