Raven Alby is graduating from her first year at Fowler Academy. There are parties and dates with William and a long summer with friends, just like any other teenager with a large dragon.
Until a letter arrives from her grandfather.
Magic is returning to Brighton. But not everyone is ready to handle it.
It’s a race against the fear spreading through Lomberdoon.
Can Raven and her friends keep their people safe as they wait for help from the capital that just won’t come? Will Raven and Connor find what they need in the Valley of the Keepers before magic tears the kingdom apart?
Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore but I was born under a wandering star and have lived in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.
I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.
There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.
This story starts out more gently than the others, and we see more of their everyday life. There are still hints of what is to come, and things to move the plot along. I enjoyed the time taken to move the story along in different ways.
It’s interesting seeing each of the characters developing and growing, and what a journey for Raven! I’m keen to see what the next book brings.
'Be careful what you wish for', is an old saying, and some of the people of Brighton are seeing the results - not that most of them had wished for Magic to suddenly appear, and start to act crazily!
As it's the end of Raven's first year at the Fowler Academy, along with her best friends, Derks, Murphy, and Bella, they start taking note of what's happening, in the hopes that Raven's Grandfather, Connor Alby, will return to his farm with, hopefully, some answers as to the return of Magic for everyone.
But, when Raven gets a letter from him, asking her to join him, she goes, in order to help in his search for answers.
When she does go, it seems that Magic decides to see just how far it can scare the people around the area, and beyond, so it's now up to Derks, Murphy, and Bella, to jump in and help the Professors of the Academy, in sorting out various ways to get people calmed!
In doing so, they show just how much they have leSrned in their first year at the Academy, and just how much this is changing them.
This book was slightly calmer in tone, and it really set up all the ways that people were reacting to the release of Magic in their lives.
Despite the calmer tone, it was still an equally riveting read, for me, and I'm very keen to go straight onto the next book in the series, which is Book Seven: 'Warmage: Night Riders'.
Once I do, and can finish it all, I'll catch you on the flip side, in order to let you know what I thought about it all!
This series just keeps getting better! With magic coming back for more people, who are scared of what's happening, Raven's friends are helping calm them down and working with Fowler Academy's teachers to help them. Raven and Leander fly with her grandfather outside Lomberdoon looking for answers, and find a lot more than they thought they would. I can't wait for the next book!!
Enjoyed this. Pretty much more of the same, as far as the series goes. This felt more like a transitional book, getting us to where a lot of fun and exciting stuff will happen in the next book. So it has a cliffhanger ending.
That said, there was a good amount of character development here, with severance characters crossing some big relational boundaries (in a good way 😉). Fun read - looking forward to the next!
The first year of school is over and the graduates are looking for a restful summer. But the rebirth of magic for everyone is not easy. People have suddenly become magic users without understanding or control, causing confusion and fear to spread. Raven is thrust into the world at the side of her grandfather, and the others in her group split up to. help ease the crisis. A good read.

I adore this story line! At this point, seeing the kids growing up to become women & men is exciting. The way Martha handles the Courting rituals is fresh!
No spoilers, so read the book/series. You won't be disappointed. (It's like Christmas when the new ones come out!)
This one felt a bit more like a set up story. There was no big climax just some interesting moments scattered through out. I enjoyed seeing what her friends were doing even if I wish raven and Bella would work together on all their adventures I did see some advantage in splitting them up to work on different problems.
Raven and William are a thing. Derks and Murph are a thing. Chase and Larks are kind of a thing. Raven finally gets the letter from her Grandfather that she has been waiting for. Let the next adventure begin!
Get me in, get me excited and bam 'The End'. Now I have to wait for the next book. So much happening in this one in so many different places with everyone involved, love it. A must read!!!!!
All the books in the series are very very good I just read the very last 1 and I hope that sometime in the future Martha Carr will update us on what raven and Leander doing in the future Very excellent read Love all the stories with Raven and Leander And all the mages at the academy
This was a non book for me. There seemed to be no real storyline as there were with the first five books. We did get definitive answers regarding some relationships and some period of magics, but overall this was not a book, it was more "filling time" fluff with no ending.
The Mages are finishing their 1sy year graduating but taking a vacation isn't in the cards. The characters are great and the story is engaging. Always adventure and battle to protect others.
A wonderful story again. Raven may have had to wait to see what she would do over her summer vacation but I bet she never thought it would be like this. Can't wait till the next book.
Excellent continuation of a fabulous series. Sophia continues in her quest for fairness and justice. Hard to put down. Lots of humour, interesting storyline. Waiting for next one.
I have read all 6 of this series and felt as if I were growing with the characters. Martha Carr is a true spell binder and I can't wait for the next book.
