Holy moly

Wow what an absolute belter if a book. This is my first book by this author and it won't be my last.
Joan has just been widowed and found out her dead husband owes a fortunes to a lot of shadey people, one of them being Dex, a local money lender and all round bad guy.
Once Dex meets Joan he decides she is going to pay off her deadbeat husband's debt.
Dex and Joans chemistry is off the charts but Dex has rules and they don't include a relationship.
I loved that this book was so well written and had me gripped from the beginning. Dex and Joan were so believable and all the characters were so likeable.
I would have given this book a hundred stars if that was possible xx

Joan heeft het prima voor elkaar: een man, twee kinderen en een fijn huis. Totdat haar man dood gaat en die eikel haar bedolven in de schulden achterlaat. En niet alleen schulden bij een reguliere bank…

De Weduwe is het eerste deel van de schuld-serie van Sanne van Ooijen. Eerder las ik van haar de keerpunt-serie, waar ik erg enthousiast over was. Positief aan dit boek is zeker het karakter van Joan. Hoewel ze in de jaren ervoor nogal naïef is geweest, profileert zij zich als een enorme sterke vrouw in tijden van crisis. Een vrouw die zich niet op haar kop laat zitten, dat kan ik wel waarderen! De Weduwe is eigenlijk min of meer een Nederlandse versie van series als de Mount-trilogie (Meghan March). Ik ben benieuwd naar deel 2!

Dacht dat dit een thriller was...oké maar dan wel één met vijftig tinten ruwgrijs. Joan haar man sterft. Blijkt dat hij een heleboel schuldeisers had. Dex, eigenaar van een nachtclub, maar eigenlijk gangster pur sang, wil dat Joan die schuld terugbetaalt door voor hem te werken. De aantrekkingskracht komt van beide kanten en wat dan volgt is onverzadigbare seks altijd en overal. Niet mijn ding, ik hou meer van bloederige darmen en seriemoordenaars en toch vond ik het leuk om te lezen. Er zit ook de nodige humor in de dialogen en de personages, hoewel ze duistere kanten hebben, komen eigenlijk sympathiek over.

Widowed, Joan discovers her offer was a lie. A debt collector comes for her but she sasses him and tells him to get in line. Loner Dex has been captivated and so begins a romance different fron any other romance. As these characters develop in the story you will come to love them

wel heel erg 50 tinten grijsachtig en wel heel heel veel veel sexscenes. verder ook heel stigmatiserend over de man en vrouw. en ook hoe 'lief' dat je vriend 20 man voor je van de kaart schiet #bendeoorloginNL en er geen groots politieonderzoek of media aandacht zou zijn... beetje zeer onwaarschijnlijk allemaal, maar wel vermakelijk. blijft het denk ik bij voor mij. geen deel 2

I can’t wait to see what Dex and Joan do next. I hope he doesn’t wait to long. Finn seems tame next to Dex. A very good book. The author did a good job of writing.

I can’t decide if I liked this one or not-
Joan’s husband suddenly dies and leaves her in a bucketload of debt but when one of the debt collectors come knocking what will she do when she’s already hit rock bottom??

I find the sentence building choppy, I’m just getting into a paragraph but then it switches to the next scene. The story was good though, I’m definitely finishing the series
