Dark Enemy Taken
Since the dawn of human civilization, two warring factions of immortals, the descendants of the gods of old, have been secretly shaping its destiny. Amanda's small clan champions progress and peace, while their powerful enemy, the Doomers, propagates ignorance and war. Descending from a single goddess, the only one to survive the ancient cataclysm that wiped out her kind, Amanda's clan members are forbidden to each other. And as the only other known immortals are their hated enemies, they've been long resigned to a lonely existence of fleeting trysts with human partners. That is, until Amanda, the goddess's youngest daughter and a researcher of paranormal abilities, makes a game-changing discovery; two of her test subjects might be dormant carriers of the immortal gene. But before she can prove it, she gets snatched off a Beverly Hills street by a huge Doomer. Dalhu can't believe his luck when he stumbles upon the beautiful immortal professor. Presented with a once in a lifetime opportunity to grab an immortal female for himself, he kidnaps her and runs. If he ever gets caught, either by her people or his, his life is forfeit. But for a chance of a loving mate and a family of his own, Dalhu is prepared to do everything in his power to win Amanda's heart, and that includes leaving the Doom brotherhood and his old life behind. Amanda soon discovers that there is more to the handsome Doomer than his dark past and a hulking, sexy body. But succumbing to her enemy's seduction, or worse, developing feelings for a ruthless killer is out of the question. No man is worth life on the run, not even the one and only immortal male she could claim as her own. Her clan and her research must come first.
Dark Enemy Captive
When the rescue team returns with Amanda and the chained Dalhu to the keep, Amanda is not as thrilled to be back as she thought she'd be. Between Kian's contempt for her and Dalhu's imprisonment, Amanda's budding relationship with Dalhu seems doomed. Things start to look up when Annani offers her help, and together with Syssi they resolve to find a way for Amanda to be with Dalhu. But will she still want him when she realizes that he is responsible for her nephew's murder? Could she? Will she take the easy way out and choose Andrew instead?
Dark Enemy Redeemed
On board the Anna, Amanda suspects that something fishy is going on. But when her investigation of the peculiar all-female Russian crew fails to uncover anything other than more speculation, she decides it's time to stop playing detective and face her real problem—a man she shouldn't want but can't live without. Will Amanda find a way to reconcile her feelings for Dalhu? Will Dalhu find a way to redeem himself in Amanda's eyes? Will Andrew find Bhathian's long-lost lover and child?
These are interesting stories, but the characters got on my nerves.
Amanda freaks out about polyester and *gasp* eating peanut butter. She also refers to herself as a $lut a lot, and for a species that needs $ex at least once a day-- that word should not exist in their vocabulary. Then there are the characters who don't like rap. All but Eminem. Don't get that. Syssi is okay with rap, but doesn't like cuss words.
I'm not sure how I feel about Dalhu. I kind of like him, but he was kidnapping and obsessive at the beginning to the point he was scary. But, he's been alone most of his life and never thought he'd meet another immortal. I can understand where he's coming from. Still, I don't know how well family reunions are gonna go with him being the one to order the strike against Amanda's cousin that kills her cousin. Dalhu gets a punishment, which he gladly does. I do feel there is goodness in him. I loved that his artistic side came out as he got away from the Doomers.
I kept reading because I wanted to know what happened. What Dalhu would have to do to earn redemption and I wanted to see if Amanda ever chilled out on her princessy attitude. She doesn't. She is a princess, though soooo
I am interested in Andrew and how he takes his transition, so I will get the next installment. The story was interesting enough, I like the world and the writing but some of those character elements struck me wrong. Comes down to personal preference, and those might be character flaws within me. I'm more of a Syssi girl than Amanda. The books were worth the read and can't wait to dig into Andrew's story.
Wait, I didn't summarize the story. Amanda is the daughter of Goddess Annani and doesn't think she'll ever find a mate until Dalhu sweeps her off her feet. Literally. Then he smuggles her to a cabin. He's always respectful, but kidnappy... coming from an organization like the Doomers, though, he's a great guy. Amanda's clan finds where Dalhu has taken her and rescues her and takes Dalhu prisoner. Amanda struggles with herself why she has having such strong feelings for Dalhu when he's a murderer, and he kidnapped her. Dalhu never questions it. Amanda's mother does. Do I have a feeling this couple will last? Eh, 50/50 like everyone else.
I'm happy to read about Amanda's story, and of course she had to find her mate in the most unlikely of places. Amanda has so much charm and charisma, just about anyone would fall for her instantly. Her kidnapper is also her mate, and she must stop fighting herself and him to come to terms with her true feelings for their relationship to begin. Of course there are lots of bumps and action in this box set, and well worth the read.
The stories continued to draw me in. This author is amazing that she's keeps each story fresh and engaging. I find myself "seeing" these stories as a movie or me watching in the shadows. Anytime you are able to immerse yourself into a story that tells you (me) its a great story.
I recommend if you haven't yet, to start this series. I honestly don't think you'll regret it.
I’ve enjoyed another set of books by this author focusing on Amanda’s love life and introducing other love tales into the mix. Love the insight into the fates too. These books are worth a read and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
Love these series. Couldn’t put it down. Can’t wait to read the next one. I would recommend reading. Both storylines and characters are strong and grip you, wanting to read the next book as soon as you finish one. You should definitely try them.
Loved how this author was able to draw you into this world of these different characters. I enjoyed the book and look forward to the rest of the series
I read the entire series. It's everything all the reviews promised. I'm reading them again. Awesome! Highly recommended. I can't wait for the next to come out.
I am torn. The sequel to one of the best books I’ve read this year comes out tomorrow. But I need something to read now so I somewhat reluctantly will start book 4. I’m rarely so conflicted.
The cast of characters is the same as the first three books with only one addition so far - Sharim using the alias of Sebastian Shar (high ranking Doomer with reinforcements sent to LA to augment Dalhu and his team)
1. Taken: Dalhu has bitten off far more than he can chew by abducting Amanda. She is no shy, simpering damsel but a hellion bent on getting her own way. You’ve got to give the guy credit for attempting to mollify her by providing essentials but in no way is that good enough for Miss High and Mighty. She will only be satisfied with top shelf food, clothing and beauty products. The poor sap actually does her bidding and sets out with a shopping list to purchase her “necessities.” Dalhu’s groveling works and Amanda softens towards him and ultimately allows her hormones to overcome her common sense.
Meanwhile Kian and Andrew plot their rescue attempt. They succeed but find Amanda and Dalhu in a compromising position. Amanda’s nude body gobsmacks the mortals. Dalhu is taken into custody and put in a cell in the basement of Kian’s building.
2. Captive: Dalhu awakens in his cell. He realizes that the mercenaries he abandoned know about Amanda and will brief the new crew. His infatuation compels him to let his captors know this as he is terrified that Amanda will be captured or harmed. The flip side of the coin is Amanda’s insistence that he be moved to a nicer secure location and that she be allowed to visit him. This is allowed after her mother first meets with Dalhu and takes Amanda’s side against Kian.
Either in this book or the one before Andrew convinces himself that he is the man for Amanda seeing as his only other immortal competition is the scum of the earth Doomer, Dalhu. Amanda may have a contrary opinion.
3. Redeemed: Kian and Andrew debrief Dalhu. Amanda has a major guilt attack after Kian reminds her that Dalhu was responsible for her nephew’s death. She takes a cruise on Alex’s yacht to work out her conflicted feelings about Dalhu. Andrew realizes that he doesn’t feel as strongly about Amanda as Dalhu does so moves on to greener pastures.
Syssi is roped into preparing for a massive wedding in two weeks time. Neither she nor Annani really have a clue how to do this and Amanda is off cruising. Annani prods Kian into buying an engagement ring for Syssi.
Amanda finds a loophole in the security camera requirement for prisoners. The immortals are exempt from being monitored in their living quarters so she declares the room where Dalhu is being held as her new digs. An ancient custom is revisited to give Dalhu a chance to redeem himself in the eyes of the clan.
Amanda shares her suspicions about Alex and his yacht. Sebastian continues to remodel the building he purchased to house the Doomers. He is in the process of procuring women for his men’s needs. The Doomers that remained from Dalhu’s group had their minds tweaked to forget about Amanda and to believe that Dalhu has been killed.
