Wells Landing #11

A New Love for Charlotte

Rate this book
Renewed faith and happiness await three generations of women in this heartwarming series from Amy Lillard, set in the Oklahoma Amish community of Wells Landing . . .

With her daughter newly married, widow Charlotte Burkhart should have been content to find a companion for her later years in Amish widower Glenn Esh. Yet, Charlotte longs for more than life has offered her thus far. When she discovers a baby on her doorstep, the child seems like the miracle Charlotte’s been praying for. Unfortunately, Glenn doesn’t feel the same way. What’s a single woman aching to experience motherhood once more to do?

From the moment Paul Brenneman sees Charlotte Burkhart with a new baby, he senses his lovely neighbor and the sweet child are meant to be. Which is why he offers to marry Charlotte and make her adoption dreams come true. No stranger to heartache himself, the stalwart widower knows second chances don’t happen every day—especially not with a woman like Charlotte, the first woman in a long time who has him taking a leap of faith that happily-ever-after is still possible . . .

I'm a wife, mother, and bona fide Southern belle. Published author, expert corn bread maker, and Squirrel Princess.

I live in Tulsa, though I was born in Mississippi. I moved to the Sooner State when I was seventeen and met my soul mate and best friend not long after. I've retained a little of my Mississippi accent though most people think I'm from Texas. (?) Rob and I have been married for over twenty years and have a son--a mom proclaimed prodigy, of course!

I love homemade tacos, nail polish, and romance novels--not necessarily in that order. I'm a big fan of country music, a staunch proponent of saving the Oxford comma, and I'm shamefully obsessed with all things Harry Potter.

I believe that God is love. I guess that's why I adore romances.

I have always been intrigued with the Amish culture, their gentle ways and slower-paced lifestyle. (And I love, love, love the fact that they stay married for their lifetime.) But until recently I never thought to blend this interest with my penchant for romance. Okay, okay, I'm a bit old-fashioned and even enjoy the gender roles that are present in this culture. I love to cook and take care of my family. Yes, that's me June Cleaver with a laptop.

I dislike people trying to convince me to read the Twlight series (I'll get to it or I won't, either way I'm good with it), gratuitous violence, and strawberry ice cream. (I know I'm alone on this last one, and again, I'm good with it.)

Favorite movies--(besides HP) French Kiss, Maid of Honor, A Lot Like Love, Just Married, and Sweet Home Alabama. Oh, and Miss Congeniality, Sabrina (both versions) and a 1940's movie called Dear Ruth. If you haven't seen it, you should! A-dorable. Anything with Doris Day and most all of Marilyn's and Audrey's.

This is an Amish Fiction, and this is the 11th book in the Wells Landing series. I really did not love the Charlotte character. I also did not love the writing style in this book. I found myself not wanting to keep reading this book, and I really found this book boring most the time while reading this book. I have to say I did love how Charlotte took care of the baby. I love seeing foster care from the eyes of the Amish. There was some really good things in this book, but it was just not the book for me. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Kensington Books) or author (Amy Lillard) via NetGalley, so I can give honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

This story is the third book in the Wells Landing series that revolves around the Burkhart family and eleventh in the series. A year ago, widow Charlotte and her daughter Jenna moved to Wells Landing, Oklahoma to be near Nadine, their widow mother-in-law and grandmother. Jenna is married to Buddy Miller and the two are very happy and love each other dearly. Nadine has a beau in Amos Fisher and they will probably marry soon. Charlotte is feeling the pain of being alone even though Nadine is living with her. She wants to be loved too. She sets her sights on Glenn Esh, a visitor to their church meeting, and the two set out to get to know each other after she invites him to their home for a meal. Her best friend Paul has feelings for Charlotte but is hesitant to say anything. Charlotte would love to have another child and feels that her prayers are being answered when someone leaves a baby on her porch one night. But then things are not fitting together just right. Charlotte is determined that God will answer her prayers but are they her wishes or God's? I felt Charlotte's pain and yet was frustrated with her at times. She is a very stubborn, strong woman. There is a cast of recurring realistic characters with funny, sweet, sad, and happy moments. Nadine and Charlotte have a funny relationship where they argue but also support each other. This is a good addition to the series and I was pleased with the ending.
I received a complimentary ARC from Kensington Books through NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine only.

I was so excited to see another Wells Landing book by Amy Lillard. It's not too often you see an Amish book series continue this long with this many books. You know what though, I am so glad that this one is. I have read every single book in this series and it's such a beautiful thing because I start into a book in this series and I have the assurance of already knowing the characters and their personalities ,just like a few best friends then we get to meet a few new characters in each book and oh look a few new friends for us are popping up.
A widow woman thinks her daughter will be a companion for her in her later years but the daughter shocks everyone by getting married. Feeling out of sorts and lonely Charlotte should be happy the widower,Fancy Amish man Glenn Esch has set his mind to marry her.
She doesn't see this a presenting a happy life for herself but feels she must go along with it.
Glenn has raised his children, they are grown and gone with children of their own now.
When a baby in a basket is mysteriously placed on Charlotte's porch she thanks God and her lucky stars and knows it's just what she needs. Glenn doesn't see it this way.
There is another man in the picture who knows his sweet neighbor Charlotte is just the blessing he needs in his life but he hangs back, after all Glenn has already made his declaration of how to feels about Charlotte but not the baby.
Can he possibly have a chance with this woman who holds the key to his happiness?
Wonderful, wonderful book, so heartwarming. Highly recommended!

A New Love for Charlotte is a good read. especially if you have read the previous books by Amy Lillard. This is a continuation of her other books, but can definitely be a stand alone novel. Charlotte has a great friendship with Paul, her neighbor, which she is very thankful for. Her daughter has married, and her mother in law is getting married, and she is feeling all alone. She meets up with Glenn, from a neighboring district. She feels that she will marry him, and he does eventually ask her. But then a stranger leaves a baby on her front porch one night. She is happy and enthusiastic about her, but Glenn isn't. He feels he has raised all of his kids and doesn't really want to deal with it. They break up, and Charlotte feels like she will lose the baby forever.. Then, her best friend and neighbor, Paul, who has admired her for some time, gets her attention. Great story! Fun and clean!

A New Love for Charlotte by Amy Lillard is the 11th A Wells Landing Romance and the third novel revolving around The Burkhart family (Loving Jenna and Romancing Nadine are the other two). A New Love for Charlotte can be read as a standalone for those new to the series. I thought the book was well-written with complex characters. Charlotte Burkhart is feeling adrift with her daughter married and her mother-in-law to soon be wed. She is also feeling out of sorts and snapping at people for no reason. When Charlotte sees Glenn Esh at church, she feels that God has answered her prayers. Charlotte is a strong, stubborn woman who has a strong faith. She is also a caring woman who thought her daughter would always be with her because of the brain injury she suffered. You can tell how much she loves Jenna (her daughter) and cares for Nadine, her mother-in-law. Nadine and Charlotte have a unique relationship. They are there for each other in times of need and I enjoy their banter. I could feel Charlotte’s emotions (pain, frustration, sadness as well as joy). Paul Brenneman is a kind, thoughtful man. He is patient and is a good friend to Charlotte. There is humor scattered throughout the story that had me grinning and sometimes laughing. I thought it was great that the friends got together each week for puzzle night. They certainly had a unique way of working puzzles. I liked that we got to catch up with the characters from the other books in the series. The ending was warm and a good wrap up. I enjoyed reading this sweet, heartwarming Amish tale. I look forward to Amy Lillard’s next uplifting tale. A New Love for Charlotte is a heartening story with a peppy pooch, a fancy Amish man, an abandoned baby, a selfless friend, perplexing puzzles, and an abundance of baked goods.

Let me start off by saying that cutie pie Amber stole my heart. I love babies. I miss having one around the house since mine flew the chicken coup.
I enjoy this series because of the life lessons that Lillard instills in them. I like knowing that all of her characters aren't perfect by any means and I especially felt their feelings across the pages coming out at me.
Lillard I feel writes all of her stories from her heart and that is what makes her books special to me. I love it when an author writes from the heart.
I know just how Charlotte feels. I'm experiencing it right now myself and I don't like it either. I know children need to grow up and do what we taught them to do but it's oh so hard!!!
However; its as God intended for it to be. He has a plan for all of us.
I love a good and devoted friend through good times and bad. Those are certainly hard to find. When you do, keep them. It's why Paul is my hero. We need more like him in real life.
This is a wonderful read and once again I hated to say goodbye to my friends in Wells Landing but I am hoping to return soon!
I highly recommend it. 5 stars

God's plan. It is a wonderous thing. How complete, how perfect. "Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid; for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.

I have read several books on the Wells Landing Community and I have come to feel that I am part of it. When Charlotte and her daughter and mother-in-law moved into the community, many changes came about in the previous books which left Charlotte feeling alone. In a tight knit community, the aloneness can be overwhelming. Charlotte is overwhelmed by her emotions of being alone as her family moves on. Her daughter with her marriage, and her mother-in-law with her up and coming marriage. When a new fancy Amish man comes visiting, Charlotte takes it as a sign that God wants this man for her. However, this is another man on the side that has become Charlotte's very best friend Paul. Her neighbor Paul who has been coming around for awhile. Helping her out, listening to her, and seeing her for who she really is. With humor, humility, and patience, Paul gives her the space she needs to see love bloom. Love becomes who can I live without.

Charlotte soon learns about waiting for God's timing and what truly is important when a "bundle" is left at her door. A purpose is given to her that has love written all over it.

A special thank you to Kensington Books and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

Charlotte Burkhart is a 43 year old widow searching for a purpose in her life. Her daughter has married, her widowed mother-in-law is engaged, and Charlotte feels so alone. It isn't until an "English" baby is left on her doorstep that Charlotte realizes how badly she needs to feel wanted and needed! Perhaps this baby and marriage to Glenn Esh is what God has planned for her!

A New Love for Charlotte is a thought-provoking story about middle-aged people searching for love and happiness, and as much as I liked Charlotte, I couldn't understand how she could consider marrying Glenn. It was apparent to me that her neighbor Paul Brenneman was her perfect match but their friendship obscured her from seeing what was so obvious to others. It was baby Amber, however, that made this such a special story. Author Amy Lillard captures the absolute joy that comes from nuzzling a baby's neck and smelling its sweetness, and I was totally wrapped up in Charlotte's dilemma. She loved and wanted this baby and she was sure she could be a good mother to Amber, but what chance was there that a middle-aged Amish widow would be allowed to adopt an English baby?

This story made me cry, it made me smile, and it left me feeling warm and fuzzy! If you are looking for a heart-warming romance filled with hope and faith, you will certainly enjoy A New Love for Charlotte.

I received a copy of this book from the author. There was no obligation to write a favorable review.

Charlotte is about to be alone. Her daughter is now married, and her dear frond is about to marry and move out of the home they shared. One night she spies a handsome man named Glenn Esh and makes the proclamation that she has just found her future husband. When she sees the handsome Amish man, she asks her best friend Paul who he is. Paul eagerly introduces them, and this is when his dreams begin to die. His feelings for Charlotte go beyond friendship, but he does not know how to tell her.

Meanwhile, after a medical checkup, Charlotte discovers that her days of motherhood might be over. Shockingly, however, the opportunity is literally dropped in her lap. A baby shows up on her doorstep, and Charlotte just might have the opportunity to mother baby Amber permanently. However, Amber needs two parents, and although Charlotte was concerned that being Amish to an Englisch baby might be problematic for the social worker, it is her unmarried status that might remove the opportunity.

No worries. Charlotte has picked out Glenn Esh. Now, to bring him around. It is also very important for Charlotte to maintain her friendship with best friend Paul.

I loved this story. Charlotte does have a grown daughter who is married and about to have her own baby, but by all rights she is still a young woman in her early forties that deserves a happily ever after of her own. Can she become a wife to Glenn and a mother to Amber? If so, what about Paul and his very strong feelings for Charlotte.

While things seem impossible, Amy Lillard has done a remarkable job with this emotional story that brings two people together for a happy future. It was also nice to see the Amish in the position of adopting and fostering. This is a delightful addition to a series that I only began with book ten, Romancing Nadine. As soon as my schedule lifts a bit I intend on reading the first nine books in the series before book twelve is released.

This is another wonderful read by Amy Lillard. You can't go wrong choosing one of her Amish stories. They are always so good. I have read the other books in this series and I have loved getting to know all the characters that carry through in the various books.
It was a great book, I loved the story and can't say enough good things about it. You will love it! Charlotte has some decisions she needs to make and this book identifies with the fact that God has his own timing for things and often we need to be patient for things to come together for her. This book shows many feelings of love and family.

I have not read any of the other books in this series so I came in to it being thrown a lot of names. Once I understood who was who the story was enjoyable.

Charlotte is a 43 year old widow who lives with her mother in law. Charlotte is friends with two men. Paul is her neighbor and is her best friend. Glenn is the man she meets at church that she wants to marry. Charlotte has one daughter who is married but would still like to have another child.

I felt in the beginning that Charlotte always was complaining. The story also moved a little but slow for me. I did enjoy the aspects of foster care and the puzzle nights that they enjoyed.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own.

Charlotte Burkhart, who is widower. She lives with her mother in law Nadine, who will be married to Amos soon. Charlotte feels like she is just moving through life. Her daughter Jenna, has just gotten married to Buddy. Paul is her neighbor and has feelings for Charlotte but doesn’t want to mess up their friendship. Charlotte meets Glenn and declares to herself that she is going to marry him. One day a baby is left on her doorstep, named Amber. Charlotte has to learn to have faith that everything will work out for the good. This is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone. I really enjoyed this book. Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books-Zebra for the E-ARC. This is my own opinion.

This is the 11th book in the Wells Landing series, but this can be read alone. My opinion of Charlotte was much better with this read, she is impulsive, but caring and has a lot of love to give.
Her daughter Jena is back along with her husband Buddy, and yes they each had their own book, along with her mother-in-law Nadine.
We meet Charlotte new loves, and yes there are more than one, and more than two, but you will have to turn the pages to see them.
I am hoping for more in this series, and I love being updated on past reads with the recurring characters.
Come and join Charlotte as she tries to find a purpose for her life, and ends up with more than she expected!

God is in charge.” “I want a second chance in life.”

It was a joy to be back in Wells Landing with the fabulous tale of Charlotte facing midlife issues along with her family members and other residents of Wells Landing, OK. Charlotte is spontaneous in her words and actions but has a tender and caring heart down deep. Her impulsivity gave way to chuckles and tears at times while reading along with wanting to shake her to open her eyes to what was right before her. I appreciate the puzzle night events and the vast difference in suitors Lillard created for Charlotte. This story is filled with some unexpected and unusual events but when faith, praying for answers and discovering being more open with feelings the unanticipated may be the best blessing in disguise.

A New Love for Charlotte is the 11th book in the Wells Landing series by Lillard but each one can be read as a standalone. The characters are true to life with them facing issues that are relatable.

Great for even a younger reader. A New Love for Charlotte is book 11 in the A Wells Landing Romance series. Wanting love back in her life in a mate but the man she has found Glenn Esh. Isn't wanting the same things she does. Ever wish you could have another chance in life at something? Charlotte has something very special in mind. Get this new release and see what her desires are. Will it work out with Glenn? Or has God got something else in mind? You won't be disappointed in this new release by Amy Lillard.

I love this series. A reader can read each book as a standalone but I am glad I have read them all. This is the 11th book and I literally couldn't stop reading till I got to the end of the book and I wanted more.

This book really had me feeling, sad, happy and yes a little angry at times at a certain character, I mean how can you not be a little upset at someone who doesn't like chocolate and chocolate chips cookies and won't even eat one to please the girl you want to marry.

This book had me guessing as to how it was going to end till the very end. I knew how I wanted it end but I really didn't know until the novel ended.

I don't know exactly what to say about this book. I also don't know why I start a lot of my reviews this way. I got this book when I was in the midst of my Amish Literature Project: what is it and why? that I have since abandoned and it was weird to go back to Amish fiction.
This book in particular was weird in itself. It felt a strange mix of Christian feel-good fiction and something else, trying to discuss difficult topics but without going deep at all. I think it had potential (and I kind of enjoyed the baby plotline) but then it just wandered a bit for too long and I never *got* the main character.
Some of the other books in this series sound intriguing as well but I don't think I'll try them because I don't think the execution will work for me.

Readers who have been following the Wells Landing series will know that the last two books before this one followed the lives of Charlotte’s daughter, Jenna, and Charlotte’s mother-in-law, Nadine. Well, it is Charlotte’s turn to find her happily-ever-after in this novel. However, it was not an easy road at all.

When the book opened, Charlotte was a bit overwhelmed with life. She struggled with sadness about the thought of living alone and never having a chance to have another baby of her own. All of this landed Charlotte in a relationship with a man named Glenn. A man who was clearly not a good match for Charlotte. Glenn and Charlotte simply had nothing in common and the whole relationship felt forced. What didn’t feel forced was Charlotte’s friendship with her neighbor, Paul. I really enjoyed seeing the two of them together.

Charlotte’s attachment to the abandoned baby was very sweet. Her love for the baby was evident in how she cared for her and in how she tried to make decisions that were for the good of the child. I really enjoyed seeing Paul and Charlotte together with the baby. They were both so caring toward her. This book was a sweet addition to the series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

A new love for Charlotte

I got so frustrated with Charlotte. I wanted to yell at her. That shows how good the book was. The characters were so real to me. Charlotte was convinced that she was supposed to marry Glenn. Is he the one meant for her? Or it is someone else? Paul is a good friend but could he be more? Read A new love for Charlotte to find out. I really want to read more about Charlotte and her family.

I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author. This book review is my own opinion.

A New Love For Charlotte is #11 in the series Wells Landing. Wow, I love this story. At times I was laughing and other times I had tears in my eyes. This is Charlotte’s story. Do you believe that love can happen at any age and time? Charlotte is doing what she thinks her heart is telling her to do. Things start to happen for Charlotte and she has some major decisions to make. Will she make the right decisions? What is right for Charlotte?

I am always eager for a return trip to the Amish community of Wells Landing and to catch up on the lives of different characters, old and new! When I first met Charlotte Burkhart in a prior book, I was not a fan. She was overbearing and overprotective of her daughter Jenna. In this book Charlotte morphs into a more likeable character when she starts to realize she cannot continue to do things her way but needs to start depending on her faith in God. Only then will she find true happiness. Even though each book in the series is stand-alone you like me will look forward to a revisit.

I loved the romance, the mystery, the close caring families, and the love of God displayed throughout A New Love for Charlotte. Amy Lillard manages to also weave in loneliness, midlife issues, and mental disabilities into the story.

All the characters bring such life to this book and I can understand how each character feels in this point in their lives. Charlotte, my favorite character, finds out real quickly that not everyone is quite on the same page she is in her life right now. She is a strong but lonely woman who stands up for what she hopes and dreams will happen in her future while trying her best to lean on God's word.

Although I've enjoyed every one of the Wells Landing Romance books, A New Love for Charlotte, to me is the best one yet of this series.

A great relaxing read! I read it all in one night never wanting to put it down.

A New Love for Charlotte by Amy Lillard
(A Wells Landing Romance Book 11)
Renewed faith and happiness await three generations of women in this heartwarming series from Amy Lillard, set in the Oklahoma Amish community of Wells Landing...
With her daughter newly married, widow Charlotte Burkhart should have been content to find a companion for her later years in Amish widower Glenn Esh. Yet, Charlotte longs for more than life has offered her thus far. When she discovers a baby on her doorstep, the child seems like the miracle Charlotte's been praying for. Unfortunately, Glenn doesn't feel the same way. What's a single woman aching to experience motherhood once more to do?
From the moment Paul Brenneman sees Charlotte Burkhart with a new baby, he senses his lovely neighbor and the sweet child are meant to be. Which is why he offers to marry Charlotte and make her adoption dreams come true. No stranger to heartache himself, the stalwart widower knows second chances don't happen every day--especially not with a woman like Charlotte, the first woman in a long time who has him taking a leap of faith that happily-ever-after is still possible...
This is Charlotte Burkhart and Paul Brenneman's story.
“And sometimes I even check things that I haven’t turned on,” Charlotte said as she poured him a cup of the fresh coffee.
Paul Brennaman sat back in his seat at Charlotte’s kitchen table and waited for her to pour her own cup and ease down into her chair. He tested the brew with a small sip. Perfect.
“Do you think . . .” She paused as if reluctant to say the words that followed. “Do you think I’m losing my mind?” She waited patiently, nearly browbeaten, for him to reply.
“Of course not,” he assured her.
Still, she didn’t breathe.
“Really, Charlotte. You’ve been through a lot.” And that was just taking into account everything that had happened to the woman and her family since they had moved to Oklahoma.
Paul had been neighbors with Charlotte Burkhart, her mother-in-law, and her daughter since they had moved to Wells Landing from Yoder, Kansas. That was over a year ago. Now Jenna had moved out and married Buddy Miller. They both lived on the camel farm with Titus and Abbie Lambert and Abbie’s parents, Emmanuel and Priscilla King. It was an interesting setup. Not just because Titus and Buddy milked the camels and sold their product for a small fortune to the English, but Buddy and Jenna had . . . special brains. He supposed that was the best way to put it. Buddy had something that folks called Down syndrome. It wasn’t harmful, just made him process things a little slower than some. And he had a different look to his cheeks and eyes. But you couldn’t ask to meet a nicer young man. Jenna had sustained damage to her brain in a swimming accident when she was a preteen. The
lack of oxygen had left her with the mind of a much younger girl, but as far as Paul could see, she got along just fine. Yet he understood that it was easier for him to acknowledge this, standing on the outside. When Jenna and Buddy had first wanted to date, neither one of their families had seemed keen on the idea. In fact, the Millers—Gertie, Buddy’s mamm in particular—had seemed downright opposed to the idea. Somehow, the young couple had managed to bring their parents around, and now every time Paul saw them, they seemed nothing but happy.
Buddy helped Titus with the camels, and Jenna helped Abbie with her toddler girls, a more identical pair of twins he’d challenge you to find.
Then Charlotte’s mother-in-law, Nadine, had gone and fallen in love with Amos Fisher. Not that it was a bad thing. Amos was a good man. He seemed to be kind enough and Paul suspected he would take good care of Nadine, but between moving to a different state and losing her daughter to marriage and eventually her mother-in-law to the same, Charlotte’s confidence had taken quite a hit.
Finally, she exhaled. “If you think so.”
I highly recommend reading.
A New Love for Charlotte by Amy Lillard is a wonderful well written 5 star book.

Winner, Winner, Winner!!! If you can't tell, I loved this book!! This is the first time, I believe, that I have read a novel, in the Amish genre, that takes on foster care, within the English system. This is the 3rd novel, by Amy Lillard, that is centered around the Burkhart family. Although, not necessary, I would recommend reading these three novels, in sequence, in order to better understand the relationships that have occurred, in the past stories.

Charlotte Burkhart, is one of three woman, in this family. She lost her husband 7 years ago and lives with her husband's mother, Nadine. Charlotte has an adult daughter, Jenna, that had an accident, as a child, that caused her brain to be oxygen deprived resulting in a change her daughter's mental capabilities. Life is ever changing and Jenna has married and left the nest. Now, Nadine is engaged and will be leaving the home. Charlotte becomes anxious about being alone and decides that a man she sees at church, Glenn Esh, will be her next husband and she sets her hat on doing whatever is necessary to have that happen.

BUT, and you know there is always a "but"!!! Life has more changes for Charlotte......some leaves a baby on her front porch!! Little baby Amber seems like the answer to Charlotte's prayers. However, this event comes with it's own set of trials, tribulations, and fears.

Paul Brenneman, who is Charlotte's neighbor, is a frequent visitor and always free to lend a hand. And as Paul soon realizes, his heart has become entwined with Charlotte, but without her knowing of his feelings.

This is a WONDERFUL story of trying to understand and live with God's plans for us. Trying to let His plan work without trying to make it our plan. You will enjoy the twists and turns of all the relationships and seeing which will take and which will go. All the while, with little Amber holding Charlotte's heart, in her little hands.

So, take a warm cover, a nice glass, of your beverage of choice, a quiet corner and enjoy this horse and buggy ride through Wells Landing and Charlotte's journey to find her place, in this world.,

I loved being back in Wells Landing with characters we've grown to love. It's nice to be reunited and see where their paths have taken them. A NEW LOVE FOR CHARLOTTE is Charlotte's story and while thinking how she wants her life to be going forward, since she feels left behind by others, she doesn't always see what's right in front of her. Will she get the life she hopes for or are there surprises in store for her?

This is the eleventh book in the series and it doesn't get old. The characters have a depth to them and live their lives prayerfully with God guiding them. There are a lot of Bible verses and prayers to lead them in the right direction or give them a sign that what they are doing is right. Glen is not from their district and when Charlotte sets her sights on him it seemed to be a disaster in the making. I loved the addition of the baby Amber that Charlotte and Nadine are caring for. Even Goldie, Charlotte's dog, is included in the storyline nicely and plays a major role. Paul, their neighbor, is always there to lend a hand and it doesn't hurt that he lives across the field. The story has multiple storylines that are woven together nicely. There are twists and turns to the story along with neighbors, family, friends, the Amish way of life, prayers, lots of baking, puzzle nights, surprises, caring and love. There was nice closure especially with the ending that takes place two months later but I wish it was a little lengthier. The cover is very serene and whet my appetite to delve right in.

Ms. Lillard is an author whose books I always enjoy. I hope we get to return to Wells Landing since there seems to be more stories to tell. I look forward to reading whatever she pens next.

I rated the book 4.5 stars but rounded to 5 stars here and on other sites.

A New Love For Charlotte is an Amish romance by author Amy Lillard. It is installment 11 of A Wells Landing Romance series. Even though I am reading this series out of order, and I haven’t read them all, I am loving the ones I have read. The books can be read as standalone and I look forward to going back and reading the ones I have missed. I would recommend reading them in order because you’ll see familiar characters from prior books.

I loved A New Love For Charlotte as much as I loved Loving Jenna (the 9th installment). Charlotte, Amber, and Paul all had me rooting for them. They stole my heart. Paul Brennaman and Charlotte Burkhart had been neighbors and good friends for over a year. Buddy Miller was now married to Charlotte’s daughter, Jenna. With Jenna married as well as Charlotte’s MIL this left Charlotte alone and she was becoming forgetful, afraid she was losing her mind. Paul tried to convince her otherwise. Paul had lost his wife to cancer and understood.

I appreciated the sensitive way, Ms. Lillard touched on the different facets of A New Love For Charlotte. I give A New Love For Charlotte 5*/5*. Ms. Lillard is a favorite Amish writer.
